Facepunch is surprisingly swift in changing it's view on the value of human life.
It's like hearing that members of a drug cartel were murdered by police in a shootout. It's hard to feel sympathy for someone who would just as quickly kill you.
Facepunch is surprisingly swift in changing it's view on the value of human life.
facepunch flip-flops on every topic but gun control and there are always tards on both sides of every argument
the only catch here is that it was 99% likely that the rangers were firing back in self-defence, nobody should be condemning the rangers but I'm not sure why they're lauding them
Ohhhh, they were fucking shot? Ah, good to know.
Facepunch is surprisingly swift in changing it's view on the value of human life.
It's not like Facepunch is made up of almost 3000 people posting at any given time who have differing opinions.
Poaching is a serious crime. I don't care if they're just providing, you do the crime, you get what's coming to you. If you bring a gun you risk getting shot. Their fault. If I remember correctly a species of Rhino recently went extinct because of assholes like these. I doubt they're poor either. About as poor as a drug smuggler. Poaching is even a problem in the States. Hunting out of season is poaching, and it ruins the balance for honest law-abiding hunters. The whole world needs to take a stronger stance on these careless assholes.
AK-47s are cheap in those parts.
You mean AK-74s
They had a 5+ casualty gun battle over ivory poaching? Really?
Now they should spike confiscated Rhino horns with cyanide and send em on their merry way. That will put an end to the demand real quick.
Facepunch is surprisingly swift in changing it's view on the value of human life.
The value of someone's life drops to zero pretty damn fast when they drive an entire species to extinction.

So i guess facepunch is only flip-floppy when people aren't on your side of the argument

If they iced 5 men firing on them in retaliation then they are pretty fucking good. I'm just saying chances are high they would have had to fire on them first.
You mean AK-74s
Fine. Various AK variants and AK styled items.
You mean AK-74s
Regardless of models (there's probably plenty of AKMs and QBZ-56s in there as well) Kalashnikov rifles are extremely common in that region.
Kill people just trying to provide for their families or something (maybe) over some animals
yes.
I know, right? I don't get it either. I was just trying to provide for my family too when I robbed and killed that family down the road but the police HAD to come arrest me for no good reason at all.
I wish they were arrested but I'm not going to fault the rangers for killing them
It shouldn't be an argument of violence or gun use or whatever has been discussed. This event shouldn't be taken as some victory because it's simply not. Until the economic and cultural problems that cause poaching and traditional medicine to prevail for centuries is fixed, this shit keeps going.
Don't celebrate the deaths of five people because firstly that's sick and secondly the problem is still there.
I really hate all of these moronic, self-titled philosophers on the internet that feel the need to share the ass backwards way that they view life, and believe that they have any idea of what their talking about.
Don't debate for what you know nothing about.
Well think of it this way: 5 less people have a miserable life now
Yeah fuck, let's just burn down all the slums too.
Even if that was sarcastic it got too many agrees.

I don't really know how exactly you'd get rid of hundreds of years of superstition in a whole lot of different countries, but yeah this is pretty much an entirely meaningless "victory" aside from five dudes now dead
it isn't even like this is news to poachers in the area, "oh shit the rangers have guns now! Jimmy told me they just threw rocks!"

Poachers like the ones in the article are driving those animals to extinction, and they're doing a good job of it too. Elephants and Rhinos are among the last of our planet's terrestrial megafauna and they come from a rather extensive family tree, once they're gone that's it. If Humans become the cause of their extinction that would be the greatest tragedy in Human history, nothing else would compare until the next branch of life is annihilated as well.
The animals aren't even being killed for the meat, just the horns and tusks and I can't even put into words how disgusting that is.
The horns go off so some bastard can finally get over his erectile dysfunction and the tusks go off to rich collectors who want to impress their dinner guests.

I know this, but you didn't get the point.
Now where the fuck am I supposed to get my horn fix?
I like to smoke powdered rhino horn out of my ivory crack pipe.
How? they are hunting down endangered animals for their parts for stupid Chinese medicines that actually do nothing, they are aware that it's illegal. The park ranger isn't just going to walk up do them and be like "Sir, could you not do that please". Because he is going to get shot at, so naturally the rangers are going to shoot back. Also with the death policy for poachers in a wildlife park its pretty much a no boner.
Not heard that phrase before...
Ivory poachers are fucking terrible, but their deaths are sad regardless. Wish they'd been arrested instead. Glad the authorities are taking the problem seriously though.
The amount of disagree ratings on this post suggests that people think there are actually some people who deserve to die.
If the rangers recovered AK-47 rifles from the poachers, I doubt that they're skimping on meals.
What?
Dude in some parts of the world you can buy an AK-47 and some ammunition for like 20 quid.
Take that ya shithead cunts.
You mean AK-74s
doesn't matter what you call them, they're all based on the AK-47
With a slight bit of research, a elephant tusk generally cost around $142 per kg in an auction house and it could weight up to 90+ kg for an African Elephant.
If you kill a bunch of elephants, it could add up more than most people could make.
The amount of disagree ratings on this post suggests that people think there are actually some people who deserve to die.
It's not that they deserve to die, it's just not really sad. I value people based on their personality and the substance of that, not just because they are biologically human. I disagree with the death penalty because of the potential that the person may actually redeem themselves or be innocent, but these guys shot at the rangers so really they got what they asked for.
Didn't deserve to die, you can't lower yourself to the level of criminals when trying to establish justice, not in a country like this. They probably would not have been able to support their families had they not turned to poaching anyway.
