I think it's pretty much confirmed...The morse code is 12.11.13 which in the source it specifies a Europe and America time date format as MM.DD.YY. Middle of december, around the Spike VGAs, same place Skyrim was first announced officially.
West Tek also built the T-51b power armor, so maybe we'll get to see some more power armor diversity. That'd be pretty cool.
I liked skyrim's skill system, it was very progressive. After investing 60+ Hours into a playthrough you cant help but look at your completed quests, skills and ectra and feel proud.
The core skill system wasn't the problem per say (it was actually very good), it was more how they handled overarching ideas like classes and attributes (and how those concepts tied into the skill system), which is to say; they didn't handle them at all. There was absolutely no reason to remove custom class creation (pre-made classes are stupid, but making a class is useful and balanced) there's also a great deal of issues with how they dealt with player fame and NPC disposition and the like, all totally superficial and useless. Your presence as a player has absolutely no consequence on the game world in skyrim, NPCs don't change their behavior relative to your fame or infamy, nor do the outcomes of quests have any serious change on the game world (juxatposed to New Vegas where they can have huge ramifications) it's barely possible to fail quests, for that matter. As for character creation, the last thing I want is to get out of vault #26879, and then have to spend levels 10-15 being a useless idiot of a character who isn't specialized in anything, and having to basically grind my skills up to snuff. That was one of the issues with skyrims skill system, you started at 15-20 in everything (very generalized, as apposed to mw/oblivion which is 5-10 for minor skills) and had to level up a bunch of times doing mundane boring crap before you actually excelled at anything and could play the game as a specialization. Another sort of issue that skyrim had: Would be nice if they brought back the level 1-300 range for fallout skills (they had diminishing returns in cost/effect) I think most people can agree 1-100 just doesn't cut it for RPGs, TES-style "hard skill caps" are extremely annoying, there's nothing worse than the feeling that you're at the absolute apex of what your character will ever be able to be, or worse yet, having to start using other totally unrelated skills to progress further. You should be able to stick with your specialization and not feel the need to switch while you're playing. This was one of skyrims overarching problems with it's character building doctrine: [t]http://0.media.dorkly.cvcdn.com/65/99/eab5983e1220676f9f73052c40869cb3.jpg[/t] I know fallout =/= tes and tes =/= fallout, but lets face it, fallout 3 was a fair bit like oblivion, and skyrim was a fair bit like fallout 3. Bethesda is going to take a lot TES mechanics on board for their fallout development, be they good, or pervasive elements.
That Tumblr is pumping out tons of good shit. This is for sure not a hoax, and if it is then its a damn good one.

Just updated page, new shit coming up. I just now realized Ella Duex actually meant Entry two.

Tying that in with the name... the Survivor? god i went to reddit because i am this hype. [editline]15th November 2013[/editline]
Just updated page, new shit coming up. I don't give a shit about what anyone says about Bethesda or their games. They all have good and bad parts to them. I'am fucking hype as all hell.
There's currently two audio files on the tumblr, one titled "The Survivor", the other is "Ella Deux" There's not much to hear in The Survivor, but you do hear a man breathing, after a moment he seems to load a revolver. The song "To Each His Own" by The Ink Spots plays. Ella Deux seems, to me, to be a continuation of The Survivor, with the unknown man speaking in what sounds like French, before shooting himself. I have no idea what he says, or what the song that plays at the end of the clip is called, anyone know? EDIT: The Ella Deux sound file seems to have been removed. Can now be found at https://soundcloud.com/biscuitskill3t/fallout-4-ella-deux-soundbyte
It's someone wishing good will to someone else in French. Before executing them.
Could somebody get me up to speed on the happenings? :d
French... Quebec?
Hmmm, the french speaking soundfile seems to be removed.
[editline]15th November 2013[/editline] in what language? Deux is two, but Ella is just a name. [editline]15th November 2013[/editline] "TARGET/// JOHNNY CAVALDEZ ||"
I know in Catalan (Spainish), Ella means She, but to me for some reason it makes sense to me that Ella Deux means entry two. Also the next entry (Soundfile) will but up in about 6 hours from now.
After reading the thread, here's what I think. Fallout 4 should definitely be on a new engine. I've modded Bethesda games since Morrowind, I'm helping a friend with a mod for Skyrim that should be released soon enough, (if he finally puts down his crackpipe or whatever he's constantly doing) and I'm going to flat-out say that a new engine is in order. Hopefully, and I'm just channeling all the rainbows ever for this one, Bethesda will actually bugtest for more than a day so people like me aren't forced to make extremely minor, easily noticed and easily fixed corrections to a few thousand quests. I'd also like if Bethesda let Obsidian take the lead on this one and let them take all the time they need to finish and fill the game. Skyrim was fun, Skyrim was cool, but having played Elder Scrolls games since Arena (still have those floppies, by the way) I know they can do better. When you're actually in the editor, you can see resources for things that would have been in (even nearly complete questlines and cells) but it seems they just went "ehh... naaahh" and tossed it all out at the last minute. Sometimes there's some really cool shit in there, but other times it's boring stuff that's missing textures or something. I hope they stop assuming we'll be content with what they give us, because releasing an open-world game kinda means once we reach the limits we want more. However! I'm glad they've given the modding community such a warm welcome, because every time the modding community gets more tools to fuck around with we squeal with joy. Fallout could easily take place in Europe, but with a few caveats. First off, you can't just go "FALLOUT IS NOW IN SPAIN, HAVE FUN," and then just make it exactly like Fallout <whatever> but with bullfighting and Catholics. (though those could play a part, post-apocalyptic inquisitors would be fun) You'd probably need to really get in touch with Spanish culture, and try to develop an alternate history Spain that's still got that whole retro-futuristic thing going on. Two, make it lore friendly. This would mean that the vaults as we know them wouldn't exist in Europe, but since Europe was a part of the Great War (and Resource Wars that they basically kicked off) they had as much time as the United States to develop something. An interesting turn of events would be the Swiss morphing into some kind of Enclave-like entity, since the Swiss would have more than likely gone with their real-world fallout shelter program and probably gone waaay over the top with it. Out of all of Europe, Switzerland would probably be the one nation to survive intact which would be pretty fun. (everyone knows that "oh we're peaceful and love neutrality" thing is just an act, every Swiss person craves our blood) Three, Europe felt resource shortages before anyone else and didn't exactly come out on top compared to the other global players, so the actual in-game environment should reflect this. Europe may be theoretically a cool place for a Fallout game, but I'd really, really like to see Detroit. Retro-futuristic Motor City in a post-apocalyptic world? Fuck yes. Microfusion cells could be used to power the car in Fallout 2, so Detroit may very well functioning vehicles in the 2200's which would be awesome. Take some notes from GTA V, Bethesda, and give me the ability to run over ghoul whores while firing small tactical nukes at everything. Regarding bows, I don't know why Fallout doesn't have more of them. They're piss-easy to make, relatively easy to learn how to use, and the ammunition can usually be reused without hassle. Being big on the whole survivalism, prepared-for-everything thing, a bow would by my weapon of choice in a post-apocalyptic world. I love firearms, I know just about everything there is to know about them, but I also know their limitations and requirements. All of that aside, who doesn't love grenade arrows?
Now the Johnny Cavaldez post on the tumblr has been removed.
Have you SEEN the trees in fallout? They're dead. I mean, *maybe* you could get some wood off them but they've been dead for like, several centuries. Any wood you got off them would be so brittle they'd be unable to take much stress before breaking. As for metal, it's not exactly the most tensile material in the world. Modern bows are made with composites.
They just removed the whole Target Johnny Caladeva thing. God I'm speaking as if there were a they now.
The one on Tumblr was removed so here is the Ella Deux sound clip: https://soundcloud.com/biscuitskill3t/fallout-4-ella-deux-soundbyte

At least in the Capital Wasteland, the only place still with live trees is Oasis. Even in the first two games, everything is dead. Lore says that the entirety of America was nuked to shit.
I'd like think the lack of trees in F3 was just a stylistic choice to make it more wastlandy, and that places not still heavily irradiated would still be densely forested.
It also makes sense because the DC area was nuked to shit with 300+ nukes. Not many trees are going to survive 300 NUKES.
PVC, fiberglass, epoxy. There's your bow.
i'm sorry, are you expecting a fucking nuclear wasteland to have the facilities and processed material to produce plastics? There's a reason all they have is metal.
Has it been figured out that this is fake and a godaddy.com domain yet?
IIRC the warlords of draenor domain was registered at godaddy too.
