This guy sounds creepy but he's not out of line. Even where I work, we have monitors that can remotely view our computer screens. Everything we see is what they see. Thats the limit of what these guys were doing. They own the computers, they're allowing public access to it, and are not out of their rights to see what people are doing on them.

I'm interested to know more if they TELL the kids what they're doing.

I guess checking to make sure the webcams aren't being abused, like kids hogging computers to take pictures for facebook isn't bad but the scary part is that he takes pictures of them! WHO THE FUCK DOES THAT?

They can see when a picture is about to be taken, and it lets them know that they were caught goofing off when they should have been working. I guess it's sorta like when a teacher smacks your desk with a ruler when you fall asleep.

I saw that on Frontline. It didn't look like the same thing. The actual program he was using on the PBS show was Apple Remote Desktop, and he was just making ARD connections to various computers. If the student happens to have a program like Photo Booth open, the teacher can see them. They don't have a program installed that interfaces with the camera over TCP/IP. When I heard about the school spying scandal for the first time, I thought it was the same school who were on Frontline. :v:
"A lot of kids are just on it to check their hair, check their make-up: the girls... They don't even realize that we are watching. I always like to mess with them and take a picture."
Someone failed to explain to this man as a child the boundary between messing with someone and being a complete weirdo fuck
Did you read the OP? :v:
shittt
What the fuck.
what what what what the fuck is this shit
Why is there no "People for the Ethical Treatment of Children" to be unnecessarily outrage by this?
Wrong in so many ways, i can see checking the history and bandwidth uses, but spying though a webcam. What the fuck.
good god. this is wrong, he should learn the meaning of "privacy"
What the fuck. Just... what the fuck.
We watched this the other day in Tech, it's kind of weird [editline]03:43PM[/editline] The girl freaked out when she saw it was taking a picture
Sounds like standard network admin stuff? You can't expect your activity on school grounds to go unmonitored, this was all done on school grounds as you can see so I don't see the problem. He didn't unwittingly activate webcams or anything, he's just viewing people's screens which I expect is pretty standard practice in schools, to stop people pissing about and stuff.
He fucking said that he likes to mess with them and take a picture. What the fuck. That's like cutting off people's heads. I don't fucking care if it was on people-head-cutting-property, you're still cutting off their fucking heads.
I was like "What the fuck" and then I read that it was NOT the case in Philadelphia, and suddenly, I didn't give a shit. It's in the school. Nobody has their laptop open as they're changing clothes in a school.

I mean doing random shit to their computers, not cut off heads.
Why are the bronx kids getting laptops when no regular school here does?
Why are the bronx kids getting laptops when no regular school here does?
Because kids that have little tend to get a lot from the government.
My school just gave all year 9s and 10s laptops that have webcams... :tinfoil:
Ok that is fucked up.....
It's all happening in school during school hours. What's so bad about this?
