Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
NOPE
As a kid I always wanted a VR pokemon game. I still think it would be incredible.
With all due respect... I don't see how running Telenguard, Jumpman, or anything from the era you're most familiar with through a set of these would increase the experience... But being beat to the finishline sucks regardless.
-snap- I was going to challenge your post but while doing so I discovered that it doesn't matter anyways. Someone else had been working on the same project as I had but stopped years ago. When I went to get something to back me up, I found he's finished his prototype and had a fully working system for well over a year now.
Imagine something like Mirror's Edge with this. Vomit everywhere.
an Assassins creed / Mirrors edge hybrid projectile vomit everywhere
Correct me if I am wrong but isn't it a high resolution tiny monitor in front of the eye and a head tracker with a PS Move controller?
Yes, that's what makes it so awesome. They didn't even have to mod the software. Everything was already there. PS: I doubt that when Valve made HL2 in 2004 they thought it would be the first practical Virtual Reality game eight years later.
They should focus on directly interfacing with the human brain and sending signals directly in which can influence the brain's perception, rather than making shitty psuedo-VR devices.
That's tens of years away This is months away
No no. Nononononononononononononono... FUCK! Well, there goes all the design work I spent the last five years on. I got beaten to the development.
http://facepunch.com/threads/1169691?highlight= I don't think you're in the position to start a VR company.
http://facepunch.com/threads/1169691?highlight= I don't think you're in the position to start a VR company.
There is untold amounts of wealth still waiting to be unlocked in consumer VR. All that needs to be done is someone has to pitch a product that will be a hit. In over 20 years of existance nobody has managed to make that hit product. I merely attempted to tap into that market by reutilizing existing and still fairly advanced technology.
http://facepunch.com/threads/1169691?highlight= I don't think you're in the position to start a VR company.
Don't be a cunt. Kicking someone while they are down is not appreciated.
Don't be a cunt. Kicking someone while they are down is not appreciated.
But that is the best time to kick someone.
But that is the best time to kick someone.
You must be boss with the girls.
They should focus on directly interfacing with the human brain and sending signals directly in which can influence the brain's perception, rather than making shitty psuedo-VR devices.
Something I've never understood is how they'd go about simulating movement in VR devices. The only plausible solution I can think of is intercepting nerve impulses or some shit but that technology is probably quite expensive, without being invasive
Don't be a cunt. Kicking someone while they are down is not appreciated.
I'm just being realistic. I like MIPS, he's a good poster, makes a lot of quality threads, but his post that they stole his idea/business was not very plausible.
Getting Red Dwarf vibes from this. Ah, the novels only made the Better Than Life VR game all the more chilling.
surely they could have chosen a better game
dead space with vr
Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
No. Never. Fuck you.
I'm just being realistic. If you don't like Half Life2 What do you like? Half Life 2 is just about the greatest game ever, it revolutionised the industry when it was released. It's graphics are the standards of CoD games today and it was released in 2004. So no. HL2 probably the best possible choice, considering it doesn't require much to run and still looks and feels superb to play.
surely they could have chosen a better game
So this is what valve is doing, when they could be making HL3. I can't decide which one is better.
Instead of using it to simulate Amnesia the Dark Descent (Don't even joke about that), why don't we all mutually agree that the Porn Potential would be great? Us Amnesia players can all share haunted looks together.
dead space with vr
I would actually quite like this. Everything would make sense, you'd be tense as fuck the whole time, and best of all, it would appeal to the shooter market as well as the survival-horror market. If someone actually did this, the profit margin would be pretty big. I have to wonder if they'd have to change it to first-person for it not to freak out the person controlling though.

Portal 2 with this would be awesome!
I've always wanted something like this were I can exeperience the Lord of the Rings series or something.
This would be amazing for flight simulators.
dead space with vr
It would actually be scary then, Dead Space on normal consoles is just tense at most. But if it was more realistically played, as in VR. Then it would be pretty horrifying.
Imagine a world where you play battlefield games by actually running, jumping, and ducking. Nerds would be the fittest people around.
That's actually the first game on my computer that I thought about doing this on. I'm brave enough to.
Add in a mic, so if you scream the monster gets alerted. :v:

New Vegas would be a bettere general game choice and concept games like Mirrors Edge or Amnesia objectively would be better suited for it, what with constrained controls that only allow forward march and no strafing. Perfect for free-running and horror games where control restrictions often enforce the feeling of "OH FUCKOHFUCKOHFUCKOHCUFK IMGONDIE!!!" Now if we just say screw realistic gore and went for a more "rambolike" universe when it comes to just eating handgrenades by the bucket and we've got a fun omaha beach. Imagine Normandy with paintballs!!!
