Just happened a few hours ago: As of posting the live feed on CNN is still on. Video The 787 is the world's first composite airliner, made of 40% composite. This makes it lighter and more fuel efficient. Also has amazing interiors. The wings curve when it flys, it looks amazing. Pics Interior features humidity, mood lighting, and smart window technology. Flight deck has a HUD, much like military fighters Fucking beautiful plane. Considered the world's most advanced airliner. Hah clocks? I watched this live then literally posted it right after it landed. Guess I'm not fast enough.
Jesus christ people! It's just an aeroplane.
Jesus christ people! It's just an aeroplane.
It's not JUST an aeroplane. It's a totally fucking rad winplane.
I don't think you understand the logistics in making an airliner. The last new plane from Boeing was the 777 and that was 15 years ago.
Soon we're just going to have flying cruise ship cities.
Whoever had the balls to fly that Lear right on TOP of the Dreamliner was fucking balls out insane.
That's a pretty sweet plane.
Cool
I heard they had a pool, a climbing wall, and an all purpose gym.
I'm shocked you guys are so amazed by a fucking plane even though we are in 2009, almost 2010.
Looks fancy.
I'm shocked you guys are so amazed by a fucking plane even though we are in 2009, almost 2010.
I can't believe people actually have an interest in something! God damn guys this is 2009 you can't have an interest in planes right now!
Economy seating looks like absolute shite
Economy seating looks like absolute shite
That's an example though. The actual cabin layout will totally differ from airline to airline.
Wow. Look at the design of the wings. So much less surface area. I didn't even stop to think how the absence of weight would affect their design.
I just watched it land on TV Live looks awesome
Looks pretty cool. But if I ever fly in one I want to ride in the best seating. For such an awesome plane, I'd want to make the best experience out of it.
God, I'm all choked up.. It looks very .. beautiful .. I waited a long time for this bird to fly..
I'm shocked you guys are so amazed by a fucking plane even though we are in 2009, almost 2010.
I actually work in the aviation industry so it's really appealing to me, I mean this is the pinnacle of 10+ years of development by Boeing! Airplanes aren't just pooped out.
I don't care what kind of future plane it is, if the wings are curving when it flies, I'd be scared shitless and paranoid that it'd break. Despite that, the interiors are nice-looking.
The airbus can suck the 787's dick.
Soon we're just going to have flying cruise ship cities.
A380 is pretty much a cruise ship with wings, depending on what airline has it. Quantas and Emirates airlines for the most part have A380s set up like flying cruise ships if you look at it.
About time they got this thing flying. Quiet a lot of airlines already backed out on it because of the long delay Also for the people saying "Hurf durf it just an aerplen!11" Its could be a major milestone in air travel with the new type of setup it has. One day all airplanes may look like this on as most look today that where based off of the Dash 80
Fucking FINALLY, do you have any idea how many times the plane has been delayed? And for you naysayers, the plane is almost entirely carbon-fiber, the first airliner to use it almost exclusively; so yes, it is a big deal. :keke: Edit: The Carbon-fiber would also explain the curving of the wings. It's not dangerous, its intended.

The 787 took goddamn near forever... good to see that they've managed to get it to fly now. Awaiting the day when I fly in one :buddy:
I'm glad to see it fly, but trust me there is going to be a few years before it's in service I think....
Yea, probably. But now that the kinks are all worked out with assembly, it should be way faster than it has been. And, there were a strikes that lasted well over a month, now that its been solved I can't foresee another for quite a while. Edit: I'd give it a year, maybe less.
Simply amazing...
Makes me even prouder that it is European :') EDIT: downie moment, Airbus is European. I'm no longer proud to be European... to be honest i never was...
Everything inside is very round. [editline]04:04PM[/editline] So very round.
