• More teens smoke pot than cigarettes, says CDC survey

If I had to choose one, I'd choose weed over cigarettes. Both are harmful, but in the end - weed is the one that actually makes you feel good while also doing less damage. Cigarettes are merely for the addiction and nothing else.
your opinion is stupid
most of yours aren't stupid at all, are they? [editline]9th June 2012[/editline]
Why you are still posting?
fp is full of 12 years old atheist liberals anti capitalism valve fanboys, so this kind of thing is bound to happen. Also, your opinion may be stupid
I'd rather smoke cigarettes (Like I do) than smoke weed. I tried weed, it was horrible and it's also illegal. It's my opinion, I don't give a damn what other people think.
Have fun with running 1/4 a mile then gasping for air, and maybe getting lung cancer or emphysema.
Ok, so I'm pretty clueless about weed/pot etc, and I'm just wondering; By smoking it, do you get pretty "out there", as in you're not really aware of what going on around you? Is it like being drunk (apart from the hangover)? Wouldn't this be harmful in the way that you might do something idiotic while not being aware of it? Again, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Depends entirely on the circumstances, the individual's ability to cope with an altered state of mind, and the genetics of the plant the person is consuming.

Again, please correct me if I'm wrong.
It isn't really anything like being drunk. You might do something idiotic while under the influence or you might do something really smart - people do stupid things with and without drugs as well as smart things. Just because someone might do something idiotic or risky doesn't justify excluding everyone else from the activity. In my experience I tend to remain far more aware of my actions while high/stoned than while wankered/drunk. If I get really high I tend to just stay in the same place i.e. couchlock and explore my thoughts rather than try to do anything. The mind state differs depending on what strain you consume and the situation you consume it in (i.e. your mood, your surroundings, your companions or lack thereof, etc.). Much like different alcoholic beverages in differing situations can cause different kinds of drunkenness.
It all depends on how much you do, if you get really "out there" you will feel less aware about things that you aren't focusing on or you could be focusing on everything and just need silence to be happy, but it's all down to the plant, Person and mindset of said person. Of course if you can't cope with it you'll throw up sometimes, others just feel really shit and light headed instead.
I'd rather risk Mental health and risk getting schizophrenia than smoke cigarettes. There fucking disgusting.
I'd rather risk Mental health and risk getting schizophrenia than smoke cigarettes. And aside from psychological addiction there aren't any mental health risks.
Why would I smoke weed which is illegal? I'd rather damage my health slightly with cigarettes than go to jail because of smoking weed. This is just my personal opinion, you cannot say that my opinion is stupid.
everyone who has smoked weed ever has gone to prison this is a fact i know it 100%
uhhh what? are you one of those morons who thinks that smoking weed isn't harmful to you whatsoever
Of course I am not, smoking anything can and will have negative effects to your health. However, cannabis has many pro health benefits. My point is it's fucking stupid to believe you are "80% more likely to get lung cancer from smoking weed, than cigarettes. This doesn't surprise me at all. The girl I like ridicules me for not wanting to try weed. :v:

How stupid do you have to be to think otherwise?
This just in, inhaling smoke of any kind is bad for your lungs. How stupid do you have to be to think otherwise?
Never said it wasn't. But you have to be outright delusional to say smoking weed is better than smoking cigarettes.
Never said it wasn't. But you have to be outright delusional to say smoking weed is better than smoking cigarettes.
It is when cigs contain nitroglycerin, arsenic, and other deadly chemicals to boot.
like what people always say this but never back it up
I tried to find you a legitimate and trustworthy source for this. All I managed to find that was trustworthy was that apparently anyone who manufactures or imports cigarettes in the United States has to report the entirety of the ingredients to the CDC and the US Department of Health and Human Services - including ingredients considered "trade secrets." You can read about the reporting procedures on the CDC's website here. However, these departments also treat the entire list of reported ingredients as trade secrets, meaning they can't be released to the public. It is because of this that I am doubting the legitimacy of this list of "599 of the 4000 additives added to cigarettes, including 69 known carcinogens". For a subject as touchy as this, I don't consider any source that isn't the HHS, CDC, or some other government department to be legitimate. It's easy for the companies to obfuscate and leave out ingredients, since they don't have to publicly report them by law, and then anyone else can just be blowing smoke unless they themselves provide a legitimate source that can be checked.
Never said it wasn't. But you have to be outright delusional to say smoking weed is better than smoking cigarettes.
Weed contains no extremely harmful chemicals (assuming it isn't laced obviously) aside from the smoke itself, meanwhile cigarettes do. For example, tar, and arsenic. Not to mention, if you want to do weed without smoke, you can go right ahead and do that. Cigarettes only come in cigarette form. Then there's chewing tobacco which is even more harmful and is disgusting to boot
Never said it wasn't. But you have to be outright delusional to say smoking weed is better than smoking cigarettes.
No, you have to be outright delusional to say smoking weed and smoker cigarettes are equally as harmful. Do the fucking research! 90% of that moronic article you linked was all bullshit!
Nope.
This article specifically states many times that these effects come from weed cigarettes. Not just from weed itself.
Weed contains no extremely harmful chemicals aside from the smoke itself, menawhile cigarettes do. For example, tar, and arsenic. Thread goes to show how well the education systems work toward these subjects.
Another thing I would like to add is there are safer ways use cannabis, without negative effect of actually smoking it. Like a vaporizer for example. No combustion occurs, so no smoke or taste of smoke is present.
