Rather than hide the gun away, you should teach the kid how to use it with proper firearm instruction. And tell him of the consequences of gun use.

In Sweden that number was 0.514 (48/9340682) and that's for murder, manslaughter and assault with a deadly outcome. I do not know if the source for the states includes them aswell. So the states has AT LEAST 5.8 times more murders with firearms per capita. I'm not basing what I said off personal beliefs, but actual fact. I could have worded it better I'm sure, I don't claim to be the most articulate man out there. I've got nothing against black people but you can't deny that the races are raised in different environments. It's likely that they're raised differently due to racism (directly or indirectly I couldn't accurately tell you), but not by any means my own.

Even with that, it wouldn't rule out socioeconomic factors which are much more likely to be the major players.

I'm kinda confused. I obviously understand hiding and securing your home defence weapon from children... but surely if it is hidden and secured [i]so[/i] well it ceases to be a home defence weapon? If someone bursts into your home and you are aware of this, the minute or two it takes to get to the closet, get your top-shelf box down, unlock the box, unlock the trigger lock, load the weapon etc... I dunno this kinda seems to defeat the purpose of having a weapon for home defence to me. Surely it'd be more efficient to just really send home the message of "hey, son - don't fucking mess about with the gun" and socialise your kids better? Forgive me if I'm being ignorant, not being a gun-owner or living in a country where mass firearm ownership is not legal, but that's just how it seems to me.
