That's what my dad did, what his dad did for him, and so on. Nobody in my line of family ever brought a gun to school so I'd say that worked out pretty well.

Of course a gun should be secured one way or another and not sitting loaded with one in the chamber. This incident could have been A LOT worse, at least no one got hurt. Hopefully the parent will reevaluate his situation and start using more adequate storage.

This is part of the reason knowing a little bit of self-defense (Hand-to-hand kind of stuff) can be much better in the long run-kids can't steal your fighting skills and take them to school, and they can't be used against you, not directly, anyway. Also probably a nice fast way to keep a gun in a safe while making it easy to access would be if you could get a thumbprint lock on it or something, i dunno how much those cost though, but if you're gonna get a firearm you might as well shell out a little extra for safety.

1st. By outlawing guns, you take guns from the citizens, not the criminals. Criminals don't get guns legally. 2nd. Race has nothing to do with it, environment does. A white kid growing up in a ghetto can grow up to be a gang banger but a black kid growing up in the suburbs can grow up to be a minecraft playing autist. And for poor Americans, gangs are really the only way to get ahead. That and dealing drugs.

From this, I never had the urge to kill anyone except in self defense.
