Wrong, there is 6 times more violent assaults per capita in the UK than in the USA. Remember that Britain is a far more urbanised, and slightly poorer country where a lot of arguments are solved with fists.
Yet 3 times as many murders per capita in the USA. Mostly attributing to the availability of deadly weapons.
Source? Anyone can make up percentages, and most do.
They could of course teach gun safety in schools to prevent this.
shit, they used to teach gun safety in schools around here, back in the day.

Where'd CBS news get their statistics? News agencies have been known to make shit up... They don't cite anything.
America at its finest! :patriot:
And still.. people cling onto their guns like little children.
good luck defending your self when someone with an illegally obtained firearm wants to kill you and your family in your driveway broski

Home Office figures showed the murder rate in the US in 1998 was 6.3 per 100,000 people compared with 1.4 per 100,000 in England and Wales.
The murder rate in London is 2.9 per 100,000 compared with 8.6 per 100,000 in New York and 49.15 per 100,000 in Washington DC.
A report produced by the US Department of Justice in 1998 would appear to support the Home Office's claims.
It shows the murder rate was 5.7 times higher in the US than England and Wales and the rape rate was about three times higher.
The report also showed firearms were used in 68% of murders in the US compared with 7% in England and Wales, and in 41% of robberies in America against 5% in England and Wales.
But the rates for assault, burglary and motor vehicle theft were all lower in America than in England and Wales.

Yup, just curl into a fetal position and cry like all the rest of the anti-gun pussies do.

Doing quite fine so far.

What if something did happen? You'd be awfully sorry that you aren't prepared to defend yourself.

I'm just happy to live in a country where I don't need to buy guns to protect my self from guns :downs:
you sound pretty paranoid faze

No, I just enjoy having peace of mind. Look up Baltimore crime statistics, and that will explain why I enjoy having a readily available firearm.
you sound pretty paranoid faze
almost too jumpy to trust with a gun
a group of 3 carjackers ditched their stolen car and hid in my yard one night a few months back, lucky for them they didnt try and seek refuge inside my house
and i live less than a mile from a high crime area, like faze said, peace of mind

Shit like that happens here...where do you live?
stupid kid for trying to show off, stupid parents for not keeping the gun hidden.
I've only once had to use my firearm in self-defense. I was walking back to my apartment when I saw a man kicking a woman that was lying on the ground.
I told him to back away, he pulled out a knife and started walking towards me, I pulled out my Glock 23. He dropped the knife and took off running.
Paramedics came and took the woman to the hospital.

Didn't think it was bad out there...huh, learn something new every day...
Haha, i said 'only in America' and you guys rated me dumb. Show one other country where kids as little as 6 bring guns to school.

but our media isnt suppressed by our government so we actually report it
Sweet. Good job.
So what did you think to the comparative statistics?
Also ironic considering your cries for citation after I refuted your rather asinine assumption about the relative crime statistics between our two countries.

rated funny
read this dipshits: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worldwide_Press_Freedom_Index
The USA only ranks 20th. With less press freedoms than Britain.
I have guns but not to defend myself. I like to go target shooting and I like hunting. I've got two handguns but those are both inherited, not something I went out and got so I could shoot people with them.
The rest of my guns are shotguns (one .410 single-shot break action for squirrel hunting, one 12 gauge Mossberg 500 with a 36 inch barrel for turkey hunting, and one 12 gauge Winchester Model 1912 that I inherited from my grandfather) or rifles (A .30-30 Winchester 1894 for deer hunting, a .270 Remington 700 for long-range target shooting, and a .22LR Mossberg 702 for plinking).
I don't have those assault rifles and submachine guns everyone seems to think is so common in the states.

Not suppressed for long... Give it time.

I'm not saying they're expensive, I'm saying very few people actually own them

I know tons that own AK's and AR's.
I know tons that own AK's and AR's.
I know people that own them too but I know a ton more who don't
[editline]20th April 2011[/editline]
oh and by the way most ARs and AKs in the united states are semi-auto, but can be easily converted with the right tools

Yep, file off the catch right above the trigger (in an AK) and there's nothing to stop the bolt, then go to prison for 10 years and lose your right to own firearms.
