The Slovenian PM skated an hour for every goal that Slovenia has scored in Sochi

I love how half of this thread is just about debating how to write 16 thousand :v:
So does using , for Europeans. It's ambiguous either way except it's easy to use context to figure it out like I think most people in Europe are used to. Who the hell would write "1.000" anyway? Whichever symbol is used there, it's got to be a thousandth separator because otherwise they'd just have written 1.
Lots of reasons to in programming, it lets you show the decimal accuracy of the value easily, when I see 1.000 I think either floating point but with an accuracy of 3, like in gmod, or fixed point.
its also the reason I only use thousands separators when dealing with money, 1000.501 is far less ambiguous than 1.000.501.
I've also seen programs just not work when you're computer is set to a language that uses comma's as the thousands separator.
I think the system we use is the best because you can't confuse 1 000 000 for anything so everyone knows it's a million.
Jesus christ you people.
This is even worse than when someone writes their date in MM.DD.YYYY
Yeah. The proper way to do it is MM,DD,YYYY.
Good for him
Not a big fan of this guy

He's a nice guy, but ech
How is using a decimal point the same as using a comma
Context... No one is going to write more than two 0s in money, also the currency. Only Americans seem to have a problem with this, everyone else on the planet gets on fine interchanging between the two.

that 1/1000th of a euro is really important it could change everything
will you all just shut up. People do things different ways
Do you all yell at someone for using a different language?
This is pretty much the same thing, but a different way of writing a number.
It is like getting mad at someone for writing in Cyrillic, they were taught to do that so it is what they will do.
Lets not use digit separators at all and use scientific notation to make everything easy to read and nice.
It's 16*10^3 Euros or, in other words, 16kiloEuros
1.6*10^4 you scrub

This is completely different. Roman and Cyrillic are two completely different things

Smaller, Bigger, Biggest. Months only go up to 12 while days can go up to 31. 12/31/2014 see smaller bigger biggest :P
But seriously skating for 10 hours straight would not only be exhausting but boring as all hell. Willing to bet next time he promises to drink a beer for each goal scored.

YYYY/MM/DD of course.

What the hell? It's not 'periods for decimals and commas as a separator' vs 'periods for everything'.
You use periods as decimal notation and a comma for separating.
We use commas as decimal notation and a period for separating.
Nobody would write 1.000.501 (as in, one thousand and slightly more than one half), it's either 1,000.501 or 1.000,501. (Unless you're thinking of one million five hundred and one, in which case it would be either 1.000.501 or 1,000,501.)

posting this stupid triangle image gets old anyway I think I pop a blood vessel every time see it from how weak of an argument it really is while being touted as the savior of all mankind

we say 11ti november, 2014
the american system is a case of "write how you speak it", which is perfectly legit and many languages work on that principle, in slovenian it just so happens to be ordered by scale. People need to stop being so pedantic regarding that. If anything, it's not as good simply because it is inconsistent with the majority of the world, making it impractical. But then again so are many things.

Scientific notation is all about digit separators so you can quickly determine the order of magnitude.
In the Danish language, the decimal point is called 'comma' exactly like the grammatical sign. So we use the comma for our commas. 18.742.163,62. Simple as that. You gotta be really fuckin' stupid to be confused by that, even if you were brought up on the opposite system.

There is no real standard, and bringing in any sort of standard for it would be more confusing than just using common sense to figure it out.
I know it was said as a joke and all but look at what you did.
What's next, arguing about the metric system and the imperial system?
This thread is very analogous to my country's politicians; it isn't achieving anything
