Scandinavia is pretty big like 25% of usa like the entire east coast and way less population. But we have always been good with infrastructure but the main reason i think we got good internet is, huge ass taxes and good politics.

The article merely points out that we're getting the speeds our ISPs advertised more often than originally thought.

That doesn't mean the US isn't lagging behind the other technology leaders in terms of raw bandwidth.

There are a lot of hardships in the US for getting a nationwide high bandwidth fiber optic infrastructure, namely the fact that the US is the most populated first world country and also one of the biggest geograpically. You have more users and more distance to cover with networks, as compared to Japan, South Korea, or Scandinavia, where there are fewer people all close together.
