World’s top economies in 2050 will be... China, US, India

Okay the third world countries are developing and in that process have an industry boom, nothing really new here

ITT: Kid thinks trained economists can predict the top economies of the year 2050.
Just like they predicted the last financial crisis.. oh wait.
I always knew India would become one of the big boys, it just needs time.

Well done in predicting something that has been pretty obvious all your life.
I'm surprised to see Poland on that list.
It's out of condolences, I'm sure.
hopefully Canada will get better if NDP take power
I'm surprised Australia is in the top 20 currently, and still will be in 2050 according to this.
itt: Kids think they know better than trained economists :v:
Shit I was saying comes from actual, trained economists. So no, I'm thinking that my far larger group of trained economists know better than this far smaller group of trained economists.
Actually, pretty much all serious predictions expect China to flat-out never overtake the U.S.
Someone above mentioned the fact that they are about to have an incredibly old work force. Right now, China is doing well because they had a population boom, which means they have a lot of working age individuals with few children and elderly, which is great for their dependency ratio. But the problem is that in the next 20 years, an absolutely massive number of people will be outside the working age, and there is not an equal number of people to fill in for them. Their dependency ratio is going to turn to shit. Also take in to consideration budding industries in countries like Taiwan and Vietnam, which are seeing an incredible growth in industry. There is a growing shift away from China to safer countries like those two, and these nations will quite happily welcome the chance to take business away from China.
You make a good point I think and I have a feeling people are thinking you mean they'll collapse. I have a feeling personally that China may not over take the US by then, but it'll be very close. Though the chinese population will be going through severe fluctuations at the time and competition from their neighbors will be higher, they still have a strong enough economy to stay in top few dogs quite easily I'm sure.
Chuckled heartily at Scandinavia

What a brilliant mind!

A trained economist would tell you that predicting anything more than two years ahead is impossible. There are so many variables it's pretty much impossible to even imagine, let one make a list. They didn't say how this list was made. Extrapolation of current economical growth and future resources? Just some random data they whipped up because why the fuck not?
Really. Predicting something so far ahead is absolute insanity at best. There are no words to describe how stupid this list is.
They can make predictions like this since nobody will remember this specific list on 2050.
I hate lists like this. Look at the history of the 20th century and then try to make lists predicting economic trends. Do you think someone in 1912 could possibly predict what the world looked like in 1950?
Or that someone in 1962 could have predicted things like the internet, or the rise of China?
Don't worry so much about these lists.
Who cares. Half of China's industry is outsourced work exporting to countries like the United States, the other half is constructing empty ghost cities
* The big loser in the next 40 years will be advanced economies in Europe, HSBC predicts, who will see their place in the economic pecking order erode as working population dwindles and developing economies climb. Only five European nations will be in the top 20, compared to eight today. Biggest drop will be felt northern Europe: Denmark to 56th ( -29), Norway to 48th ( -22), Sweden to 38th (-20) and Finland to 57th (-19).
I guess that means Estonia too.
well shit, i should either move to China or push Estonia somewhere else
like next to china
that would be good
I won't really be surprised if this is true. But, then again, its predicting which 3 countries will be having the highest GDP. I mean, for all we know, the Philippines, or Zimbabwe, or even Russia could be in the top 5(or even first, okay, maybe not Zimbabwe).
But the U.S will still be first for a while, hell, she might not even lose her first place yet. But, we don't know what will happen.
How much does it mean, though? In the end of the day, India has a lot more poverty than America and Europe, even if it might surpass them in economy. For the everyday person, what would be a better standard of living and quality of life?

So your counter argument was a obvious scaremongering video about two ghost cities making the most powerful economic superpower in the world, collapse?
Finish your course of basic economy in your preschool (if you even have one), maybe you'd realize a thing or two.
The Scandinavian countries should just team up and form an own union or even a COUNTRY. Would probably dominate Earth after a few months.
After a few years the Scandinavian country rename Earth to Ásgarðr and rediscovers magic lost in time. Heretics will be thrown to Jǫtunheimr, while weaker and less intelligent beings of Ásgarðr gets thrown into a newly colonized planet called Earth.
Ásgarðr? Dude no, it will be called Kalevala, or Kekkosmaa.

It's not so easy to see in times of a recession when job prospects are scarce, but it's sort of like this.
The stronger an economy is, the more likely investors are to put money into it. The more money there is to go around, the more people need to be employed to provide services for people to spend that money on.
The US is always a good example of this. After World War II, it was the only major economy in the world that hadn't been racked by war. Everyone who had money wanted to invest in US infrastructure and businesses because it was so stable, and as a result, the economy boomed (among other reasons).
So if you see GDP continually rising, it means two things. The first, that people are already investing their capital, which means employment is rising, and the second, that the economy is rising, so it is safe to invest capital. It's a repeating cycle.
At least until it is overvalued and crashes, anyway
Then it's part of a greater cycle

Yeah, but the longer we don't talk or worry about that, the more likely it is that it will be our children's problem.
Netherland is going down, no fucking suprise.
We are overrun with Islam cunts who don't work and get freeloaded of our goverment.

It's the truth though, look up some charts.
The Netherlands dropping 9 spots? I don't buy it. Especially seeing how high Italy, spain and most other south European countries are on this list.
Besides how do you even predict what something will look like in 40 years? I remember when I saw back to the future they said we'd have flying cars by now.
