Gamebryo is aging as it is right now, but it could be so much more!
The news of this "heavily modded engine" actually gives me much more hope than about IDtech, in the way that Gamebryo; if improved in just a few key areas could rival what you could put out on IDtech. Maybe they are going to use components from IDtech to improve GB in graphics, Core management, and memory capabilities, that right there would solve a shit-ton of problems just by itself, better AI, Larger more detailed textures, better looking people, and more "liveliness" in NPCs and cities would follow suit.
They've shown some improvements already in voice acting in the transition from Oblivion to Fallout 3, and the stiff animations and such that people seem to love to bang on about are not a by-product of the engine itself, but rather Beth's design philosophy: quantity > quality, Lots of not so great animations made quickly so they can move on to the side quests and area creation as fast as possible.
IDtech I just can't imagine as being an RPG type engine, maybe I'm being close minded but that just doesn't sit well with me.
I really do think that this is going to be something amazing, I can't wait to run around as a khajiit hitting innocent civilians in the face with a sledgehammer. Fetcher!
I would like legs.
I would love to see intertwining guild storylines like in Morrowind.
You wanna be in the Thieve's Guild and the Fighter's Guild? Tough shit, asshole. Also, they should bring back real guild requirements.
Yeah, yeah, you did good on that last mission unfortunately we wouldn't feel right promoting you just yet with your current skill set. Why don't you take the evening to train some more?
They should also bump up the number of guilds. Oblivion had what, like four? Five if you count KotN. Morrowind had six that I can recall from the top of my head, nine if you count the vampire clans, and twelve if you count the Great Houses which were essentially guilds in of themselves, and again they all had intertwining stories that prevented you from progressing through every single one because they actually worked against each other.
I loved the entire political/espionage feel most of the guilds.

I liked how most quests from the mages guild was about blackmailing or assassinating someone. You don't mess with guilds in Morrowind.
Do take not it's not Gamebryo itself that's the problem, it's just the heavily modified version of it that Bethesda use is a piece of shit.
If they started from scratch on IDtech5 they could do so much better.

A meme? Not funny.
No one excepts the meme inquistion. Oh well, no need to be butthurt.
DISMEMBERMENT.....:black101:
I want a combat system similar to Dark Messiah's. Something a little more engaging instead of the constant slash slash slash slash block slash slash (occasional spell) slash
They should implement some of the stuff that Deadly Reflex mod did. Namely the dismemberment (which should be easy now that the code is already in there thanks to FO3), and more complex combat in general.
Or like fallout 3, where you choose which body part to hit, but they properly won't reuse the system with fallout for the new elder scrolls.
A longer main quest and lots of side quests would be nice
How about they make an INTERESTING main quest before we start asking for longer ones. And I can't imagine a direct sequel Elder Scrolls honestly. The world at least has to be completely different because otherwise all these ancient dungeons everywhere have to be repeats.
I love gore and I loved it in Fallout, but I don't want it in TES. Am I alone in feeling this way?

How about this, A much longer much more interesting main quest, with many potential paths or branches based on the decisions one makes or how he/she plays, and once finished allow, free expanded story and quest packs that enables even more choices that effect the world and economy around you including NPC chars traits and reactions allowing for diverse array of possible playthroughs...
Also, TITS...
I just only began playing Morrowind after taking a break from Oblivion. I like Oblivion's graphics more, but Morrowind has a much better landscape. This new one is going to be amazing, no doubt about that, but It's also not gonna be around for a while. I honestly hope this will have some great mod potential, and fix the combat system so it's not the same each time.
pauldrons, skirts (over greaves),spears, tattoos, gore, open ended quests (instead of traveling to the other side of the world to get a pen that i can trade for a sword- i just want to kill the guy and steal his sword)lots of voice acting, and i realy wanted to feel the lore of the game mix with realism (glass swords should be awsome, glass war-hammers should fail)
i want the engine to be so modifiable that someone could make a completely unrelated game on it (like a top down shooter/rts or making the game another call of duty clone)
perhaps a much larger land could be used if the game's terrain was made of larger polygons than tes4 but could tesselate? that way the game could encompass skyrim, cyrodil, morrowind and black marsh at once (i already have ideas for the plot) later expansions (not dlc packs) could add new countries (or possibly akavari)
perhaps the game could also use custom shaders to free up space- or maybe a microsoft sam way of making dialouge (refined though)

How the hell do you make Microsoft sam refined?
Add "Sir" or "Mam" to every other sentence?
I want to see proper rain and dynamic shadows. It's really immersion breaking to take shelter from the rain only to find out that the water droplets are apparently armor-piercing.
Shadows are a standard in games nowadays and while I love Gamebryo for it's moddability and decent graphics it really sucks graphically compared to most if not all engines today.

Gamebryo would've been fine for me graphically if it didn't had it's 100 flaws. It made us shit bricks back then.

Man are you trying to be fun or something because seriously all comments of yours I see are so dumb.
The one thing i want from Oblivion is a faster levelling system. I can remember completing a lot of quests before i reached level 6, and i was still using steel after 2 days. It got boring and sometimes there is a lack of reply value in the quests.

I agree, the leveling (especially on marksmen, mercantile, and speechcraft) was slow as shit.

I agree, cause you see I indeed try to make dumb sounding comments.
But, have you ever thought that maybe this is my actual opinion on the matter?
That maybe I have a view of the world different and in some aspects "dumb".
I say to you, have you?
[sp]Obviously its not my opinions, i just say it to be stupid and funny. That's just the way I am, either way i get attention and that's all that I want. That's the only reason I made an alt after 4 years, so that I can continue getting a little attention on a forum where i know nobody, as opposed to lets say, A family gathering.[/sp]

If i had a say i would say don't use steamworks just use a basic drm It would be a lot easier
The way Bethesda seem to be going it would.

I'd say make Steam an optional thing for it. So you can buy a retail copy of the game, and either activate it on Steam, or activate like games used to/just play it like normal.
