Not a rumor. Nintendo said it themselves.
Well I said rumored because all I saw was a screencap of their supposed E3 schedule on my Tumblr feed and those aren't exactly 100% reliable. But if that's the case then I really don't know what Nintendo is thinking in doing this.

To clear up some confusion: Zelda will be the only playable game from Nintendo at E3. It's not like they won't show any games during their Direct other than Zelda.
Wii U confirmed deprecated and abandoned
For how long has Nintendo been publicly acknowledging NX like this? I thought it was all leaks and rumours
As far as I know this is the first time. I was reading articles about it this morning and I was like eh whatever it's rumors but now it's not!!!
I love my Wii U and I've gotten a lot of fun out of it, but still was not so prepared for this. Guess I'll have to scoop up the remaining Nintendo exclusives I haven't purchased before they shoot up in collector value...
I will not be buying any new Nintendo console until there is a positively reviewed Zelda game on it. Also, the console shouldn't completely suck either. I have not been convinced at all to buy the Wii-U.
What do we know about the console?
Nothing apart from rumors regarding it "most likely" containing an x86-64 AMD APU like the XB1 and PS4
Hopefully they ditch the gimmicks, and just give us another gamecube controller.

So I was chilling out at my desk playing Shantae on my WiiU with my pro controller, it gets to about 1030 and I'm like "hey, I'd rather lay in bed and play this" so I whip out the gamepad and lay in bed playing the game. Am I the only one that loves that functionality? Like it's cool to be able to choose and really gets a lot of use out of that functionality?

Speak for yourself, I love the gamepad.
can we talk about how splatoon somehow managed to acquire a 40% attach rate
I can't wait to see what awful name they give it that confuses customers.

WiiUs
Wii U confirmed deprecated and abandoned
It'll be the game cube of this generation. Some particularly good exclusive titles, an interesting controller(more in concept since I see it as a home console variation of the DS design), and will be easy to emulate not long after its release.
I think we all know it's going to be some weird ass console Question is will it be good. I actually like the WiiU but a lot of the popular games for it didn't come out till later in its life. Also it apparently supports 2 tablet controllers but they limited it to 1. :(
I mean I really like playing Xenoblade on my tablet controller when I'm not in front of my TV.

Yeah it's great. I use the TV when I'm playing a big retail game (Bayonetta, Monster Hunter, Splatoon, etc) and I use Off-TV Play when I'm playing a small indie game or a Virtual Console game or something.
