This doesn't seem too bad, you don't actually have to use your real google+, but can use the google+ automatically made for your youtube, essentially changing nothing. Because you are capable of using your actual google+, but modding the privacy of the comments, this has really no problems and seems like a pretty good idea on paper.

I already had a personal Google+ account that I didn't want to link with YouTube, but it automatically linked to that one. I finally found the option to re-link it to the anonymous one, so I'm not as angry now.

Are the "top" comments now only counting Google Plus votes or whatever it is? Top comments from before the change now show up nowhere near, while some Google Plus shares or whatever have 3 upvotes and appear right at the top.

This is such a fucking clusterfuck, and it has been ever since Google came along.
I used to be able to sign in with just a username and password, waaaay back in like 2009, but then they starting forcing you have a google account. Seeing as I was much younger, my profile is linked somewhere between an old, old email that's permanantly tied to it which I can no longer access and an automatically created goggle mail email account that I don't have the password to anymore.

It's all such a mess that I'm tempted to just stop using Youtube as an uploading service. I cannot respond to comments made on my own videos without using the terrible Google+ service and it's all just such a fucking mess.

I had really nice Gmail filters that sorted YouTube notification emails in there

But now I get only half the stuff to my notifications folder... (which is where notifications from all my other services go; tumblr, g+, lastfm whatever you name it)

You know what I don't understand: in Gmail and in YouTube you have the little notification bell at the top right that tells you all about the new notifications you get.

So why emails? What's the point of having them doubled up? It's especially ridiculous since Google+ = Google Account = Gmail...

VIMEO is extremely limited unless you PAY 60 dollars per year or 10 bucks per month. Besides, vimeo is NOT a video sharing site like Youtube, it's more of a showcase site for more serious stuff.

I'd gladly disconnect my Google+ but people have experienced a loss of subscribers when doing so. This one guy on YouTube lost 180k subscribers the moment he untied from G+.
