So you're annoyed because there's a 15*15 pixel button at the bottom of the screen that doesn't even say store?
No, I'm annoyed that a store exists.
Microtransactions have no place in a game like Portal 2. All cosmetic content should already be available for free. There's no reason that you should have to pay that much money for a virtual item.
Cosmetics mean a lot to you, don't they?
I'm OK with this too! It's optional, you can play and enjoy Portal 2 with default animations (Ba, I can survive with rocket paper scissors and taking my coop-friend's head off). 1,99 euros for an animation? If that price makes you mad, then you should notice that it's a luxury product, and it's actually <``cheap``>
Or you know, we could have it for free? I think its pretty fucking low that we should be charged for extra animations
This comparison is horrible.
How is it horrible?
Or you know, we could have it for free? I think its pretty fucking low that we should be charged for extra animations
You don't have to buy them though. It's like you go into a cafe, buy some Peri Peri Chicken with Rice, and then complain about the price of Chips even though you're not buying them.
Cosmetics mean a lot to you, don't they?
Cosmetics, no. The existence of microtransactions, yes.
Well this is a shame.. certainly has put me off buying Portal 2 any time soon. Will wait for a price drop tbh.
No, I'm annoyed that a store exists.
So you're annoyed by the very concept of it's existence, even though it does not factor into gameplay in any way whatsoever, and hardly anyone will use it.
How is it horrible?
You just said that link that goes to an online store full of optional virtual stuff is the equivalent to a link that brings people to a very unpleasant image of a man stretching his asshole to the camera.
So far, I'm enjoying Portal 2 way more than the first one. Honestly, I'm glad I got the first one for free. Pretty clever/fun game, but absolutely zero replay value. However, this one should prove to last long with the addition of co-op. I just wish Valve would have spent the time they used making cosmetic items to make a few more test chambers and whatnot.
Valve obviously has all of you faggots in their pockets, I mean look - 13 pages already, well done. (User was banned for this post ("Flaming" - Autumn))
You don't have to buy them though. It's like you go into a cafe, buy some Peri Peri Chicken with Rice, and then complain about the price of Chips even though you're not buying them.
that sounds reasonable?
You just said that link that goes to an online store full of optional virtual stuff is the equivalent to a link that brings people to a very unpleasant image of a man stretching his asshole to the camera.
I didn't say the online store was equivalent to anything. Replace "Goatse" in my post with anything unpleasant.
Or you know, we could have it for free? I think its pretty fucking low that we should be charged for extra animations
4 years of updating best class-based multiplayer FPS, free patches for every game, ability download your video games from any computer and lots of other stuff but still, people whine about HATS that they DON'T NEED for 1,99 euros you do realize that you are playing with one person max that one person is (probably) your friend if your friend really cares about you not having a hat, then something is really wrong with you I mean, it really makes sense in TF2 - 32 players server, everything is based on hats. But in Portal 2? It's just a very small addition. Very small addition. Nobody would care about it if it was free, and if you want to support Valve - just buy one hat, a gesture and show how better at Portal 2 you are than your co-op friend. eh
that sounds reasonable?
Nobody's forcing you to buy them, they don't affect gameplay in any way, it's just an optional extra for those with money who would like to purchase some additional things because they think it will look cool.
Is buying Portal 2 in the first place not supporting them?
It is, but buying additional things is showing additional support.
It is, but buying additional things is showing additional support.
I don't think the majority of people who purchase virtual items in Valve games care about supporting them as much as they care about having a bigger e-peen.
...Okay fuck users :v: Just fuck them up the ass.
User!
that sounds reasonable?
I think it's more along the lines of: giving a hotel a low rating because the soda there is expensive, even though the only reason your there is for a place to stay and not the soda.
Nobody's forcing you to buy them, they don't affect gameplay in any way, it's just an optional extra for those with money who would like to purchase some additional things because they think it will look cool.
yeah, but complaining about the prices of chips that you're not buying sounds completely reasonable :|
Valve? A business company? Trying to make money? Unthinkable!
You don't have to buy them though. It's like you go into a cafe, buy some Peri Peri Chicken with Rice, and then complain about the price of Chips even though you're not buying them.
Its more like ordering a £30 meal then asking for some salt but being told the salt is an extra £2. Something I would have expected to come free with the meal. But the salt's optional right so who cares, I do cause I want that shit included in my meal for free. Even that analogy does not really work and its stupid to try and put this situation into an analogy. I just think this is was a silly move on Valves part.
Valve? A business company? Trying to make money? Unthinkable!
you would think that selling games and being an owner of an extremely popular game distribution service would bring in enough money v:v:v
Valve? A business company? Trying to make money? Unthinkable!
So you wouldn't be surprised if they started selling bags of dog shit? They're a business company, right? I mean, who cares if they're trying to make money. It's not like you have to buy the bags anyway.
analogies for this situation don't work stop trying the point is hats suck because of $$$
you would think that selling games and being an owner of an extremely popular game distribution service would bring in enough money v:v:v
The goal of any company is to make money, and as much money as possible. Please learn economics. [editline]19th April 2011[/editline]
So you wouldn't be surprised if they started selling bags of dog shit? They're a business company, right?
analogies for this situation don't work stop trying the point is hats suck because of $$$
But nobody's forcing anyone to buy them.
Well this is a shame.. certainly has put me off buying Portal 2 any time soon. Will wait for a price drop tbh.
Really? Your decision to buy/play Portal 2 is not based by the games story and atmosphere, but by something that you don't even have to care about? I respect your decision as I too find the store necessary, but you are also missing out a great single player and co-op experience by Valve due to that.
Its more like ordering a £30 meal then asking for some salt but being told the salt is an extra £2. Something I would have expected to come free with the meal. If anything I didn't go into portal expecting any accessories at all, so it would be more like, I duno, asking for some chicken on your salad or something. I do think the store is silly, but I don't understand how it can totally ruin the game for some people.
