SPOILER ALERT
[sp]Dumbledore dies[/sp]
Stopped being funny after the first 1000 times it was posted.
:what:
Or are you one of the people who complain about hats or weapons which are still incredibly balanced :v:
Nobody here defended the length. How about you exit the thread to your right because you obviously aren't reading.
how about u exit life because u obviously arent worth feeding
I feel that no matter what sort of chargeable DLC it is, I think DLC is still DLC, it is still additional content that customers have to pay for to 'upgrade' the core game they have already paid for. That is why many people are unhappy about Valve.
That must be why they quit the game because of hats.
Because TF2 was meant to be a serious, hardcore game for serious people.
TF2 wasn't just casual either.

OSHIT man that was so clever.
I've bad mouthed Valve for ages about how they ruined Team Fortress, how they crapped out L4D2 and for how Half-Life 2 is horrendously over-rated.
But I still loved Portal. Sure it was hella short but it was also cheap as dirt.
I just knew they'd ruin the sequel.
How can they ruin Portal with Portal 2? The first game is still unchanged.

i've been playing a lot of bc2 lately
How can they ruin Portal with Portal 2? The first game is still unchanged.
when did he say it ruined the original
I don't see why people get so mad at the ingame store, it's not like the items change any gameplay at all.
It's more the fact that the content was obviously left out to gather even more money.
How can they ruin Portal with Portal 2? The first game is still unchanged.
He never said they ruined portal. "They'd ruin the sequel" not "They'd ruin it with the sequel".
Wasn't the first Portal even shorter? 4 hours sounds like a big improvement over a game that was possibly as short as 2 hours.
4 hours for a game that is supposed to be singleplayer-orientated is pretty pathetic. I've seen films that are nearly 4 hours long and it only cost me £7, not £30.
I feel that no matter what sort of chargeable DLC it is, I think DLC is still DLC, it is still additional content that customers have to pay for to 'upgrade' the core game they have already paid for. That is why many people are unhappy about Valve.
I disagree, it's completely optional and does not affect your game in any way it all except for a few pixels on your head. It's not an upgrade you have to pay for.
Shit, the store could have only had one piece of DLC, a cosmetic one at that and people still would have shit themselves. "AAAARGH OPTIONAL, COSMETIC DLC?! VALVE IS A BUNCH OF GREEDY ASSHOLES!"
technically, every DLC in history has been optional
(okay yes, I know that there's a difference between major and minor DLC. Point taken.)
4 hour game for $50 and valve try to milk it with release day dlc
looks like a damn good 4 hours but thats still a fucking rip
when did he say it ruined the original
i misread

How exactly did they ruin the sequel? The single player is 7 hours of blissful gameplay, humour, and story, and I have yet to play the co-op.
"AAAARGH OPTIONAL, COSMETIC DLC?! ACTIVISION IS A BUNCH OF GREEDY ASSHOLES!"
see where im goin with this??

it's not like you have to buy it to play at all
How exactly did they ruin the sequel? The single player is 7 hours of blissful gameplay, humour, and story, and I have yet to play the co-op.
No it really isn't. Anyone who was able to do the advanced chambers in the first game can finish this one is 4hrs or under.
4 hour game for $50 and valve try to milk it with release day dlc

Good luck completing it first time 4 hours.
Or are you one of the people who complain about hats or weapons which are still incredibly balanced :v:
Hahah what?
I don't care how balanced is. I paid for my game, I don't want to pay for additional shit later, especially if it changes gameplay in a way that puts me at a disadvantage if I don't buy it.
When you get a film on DVD they don't release an optional extra scene on release day that fills in an extra part of the storyline that you have to pay for do they? No.
I don't understand why people think it's okay for the video game artform to be slowly more and more horribly commercialised to the point where even previously 'white knight'-esque developers/publishers like Valve, who are incredible rich as it is, feel they can't release a game without lazy, over-priced DLC.
technically, every DLC in history has been optional
There's a distinct difference between DLC which merely changes the look of characters, and one which either a) adds new levels/zones with story, quests, etc or b)adds character improvements, such as better guns/armour, or new weapons.
Good luck completing it first time 4 hours.
I watched a 3hr 38 minute livestream of the entire game.
Those Metacritic reviews are just people bitching for the sake of bitching. "bawww $80 for DLC baby want bottle" goddamn its not like they're getting you to purchase levels or things needed in order to play the game. I've been having a blast so far and I can't wait to see what kind of maps the community comes up with. My only complaint is the level size, the loading every 2-3 minutes kinda breaks the flow a little.
if this were any other dev u guys wouldnt be defendin it so fervently grow up
I disagree, it's completely optional and does not affect your game in any way it all except for a few pixels on your head. It's not an upgrade you have to pay for.
Yes, it's only a few pixels, but its about the mentality behind the implementation. Yes it's only a few pixels, but it's still the same, "HEy let's charge for DLC" mentality that other game developers and publishers have and consequently been hated for.
I think that's why so much people dislike Valve now, because they have the cheek to do it, even on a minor scale.
If they start charging for minor DLC like this, what's stopping them from moving on eventually to content packs.
But hey, it's their game and their marketing plans, they can do whatever they want.
I never thought I'd see this kind of thing happen to Valve.

Well the maps are bigger than the original so you could argue the loading times are spaced farther apart.
vote with ur money people
