I mean I haven't seen it yet, but someone told me it was bad.
also its short as fuck when any other dev sells a 5 hour game for 50 dollars ur all threatening to firebomb their houses but when valve does it youll miracle up some excuse to make it ok
This. The amount of Valve fanboyism in this thread is bewildering.
Lol Valve fanboys are the worst.

I can't say anything about it because I still haven't played it but...
Its the same shit over and over again, and this will keep on happening.
People will continue to whine over nonsense like the DLC which you don't even need in this case, and they'll destroy the game's metascore because of a few loose bolts.
So what do you do? Don't give a crap about reviews. Watch a gameplay video instead!

Amazing, and all this rage because of cosmetic items you don't get forced to buy.
Portal 2 is far superior than Portal 1 in terms of gameplay, writing, graphics and music. Are people really that dumb?

No, we're just smarter than you lame-heads and can see bullshat from a final product.
i gave up on valve when l4d2 was announced

They are so dumb, they are really dumb...for real.
Fuck, these arguments against the game have been going in circles for 17 pages, almost all of what I've seen is freaking blanket insults towards anyone defending the game even slightly.
So can we get this thread closed due to lack of progress?
Can't they temporarily lock the game and work on it?
Oh wait, its valve. They don't DO any work.
Yeah, nevermind the constant updates of still-played games.
I for one WISH they'd update Team Fortress 2 for once. That game is soooo stale now.

I played through and beat the game in one sitting, damn-near killing myself because I played all night and had to work.
I loved the whole game. Story, puzzles, extended length, multiplayer. Everything. This game is a vast improvement on the original. If people are going to throw blanket insults because of a tiny button that leads to paid DLC on a screen that they don't even have to go to to play the game anyway, well that's their prerogative. I don't think they should drag everyone down with them, just because they can't let go of a small, optional feature and just enjoy the damn game.

Exactly. Me and my brother have been taking turns on the singleplayer, and it's been 5 hours. We're still not done, and my brother was RUSHING it.

Honestly I think the bad reviews are unwarranted. The console message was an issue due to the PS3/PC compatibility which is beyond what valve has ever done before so errors are bound to happen. Plus it's simply visual DLC and not shit like CoD and Crysis 2 map packs.
Speaking of Console message, if you dick around with console commands in Episode 1, you'll find various commanded tagged with 'xbox' and what not for the HL2 Xbox port
Good god this is the dumbest thread I've ever read.
Honestly it's just a bunch of whiny kids, Portal 2 is built on the source engine so it is obviously not a console port, the saving message is just something they forgot to take off. In addition to that, the game took me 8 hours to beat + 4 hours coop because I wasn't rushing, I was having fun. The endings weren't spoiled for me because I just avoided any threads about Portal 2 since the game was "pirated early" for consoles and I didn't bother buying the potato sack because I already had 90% of the games for it.
As for the cosmetic items that don't affect gameplay, it's just plain childish to complain about that.
An article from 2007 about Valve refusing to charge for extra downloadable content.
http://www.monstersandcritics.com/gaming/pc/news/article_1309466.php/Valve_won_t_charge_for_downloadable_content
Designer Robin Walker explains their logic saying: "You buy the product, you get the content ... We make more money because more people buy it, not because we try and nickel-and-dime the same customers."
For all of the people out there who are arguing that this isn't a big deal, this is proof that Valve is in fact actively changing the very same policies that made it the company it is. I'm all for the complaints people are voicing. Valve needs to hear them, and I think they have.

You aren't reading the right posts.
Those complaints are stupid
Lousy Day 1 DLC! 1) Optional, 2) Cosmetic only 3) Don't affect your game or who you can and can't play with
Lousy Console port! What the fuck does this mean? It couldn't work any better,Gameplay and Graphics wise on Source Engine, on a PC if it was made exclusively for PC, and it ran great all maxed out
The length of the campaign too short? How long did people expect it to be? It's similar to the first, and filled with laughs and story, instead of the same Point A to Point B clickclickclick gameplay everything else has. Also: SDK. We'll have more hours worth of gameplay out of this game than some RPGs, if you like Portal gameplay that much
And I don't know what anyone's arguing about the Potato Sack pack... You didn't have to buy it or any of the games, nor play any of them. Portal 2 unlocked when it unlocked, if you played or didn't play the games, you still had it unlocked, if NO ONE had played ANY of them, we'd all have it a whopping 10 hours later, And not only that, Valve and Indie Devs got some well earned cash for it
Stupid reasons to rate something a 5 out of 100 for. The game is deserving of its Metacritic 95 score

That's probably counting PS3 too.
The whole concept of "Day 1 DLC" is kind of stupid. I thought DLC was supposed to be content that developers release separately from the main videogame, like map packs, in order to increase the lifespan of a game.

It's not worth complaining about in Portal, it's barely noticeable.
TF2 on the other hand...
All of those complaints in OP might or might not be true but they pale in comparison to the main problem, the sequel of Portal costs $50. There has not been a single Valve game worth $50 since Half Life 2, and that came bundled with CSS.
He could have watched one of the many different livestreams that have occurred by now for both console and pc versions.
and how do you know that the person in the livestream knows or doesnt know how to do the puzzles?
4 hours, Single player lasted 6 hours, and i was rushing it.
Good god this is the dumbest thread I've ever read.
This Day 1 DLC argument is stupid. It isn't a whole chapter of puzzles, extra quests, more achievements or anything like that... It's a stupid Flag, a Hat, and a couple re-skins of a robot One person at a time can even see
Day 1 DLC worth arguing about is actual content... This 'DLC' is just Last second woopties
4 hours, Single player lasted 6 hours, and i was rushing it.
Same here. Took me about 7 hours (got stuck a few times). Even if I really rushed it and knew the puzzles, I still don't think I could beat the game in under 2-3 hours.
Compared to Portal 1, which I could beat with a consistent time of 40-45 minutes.
People bitch and moan about gameplay times, when the focus should be about what happens in that time (It's the journey, not the destination, blahblahblah). I honestly don't think the story would have been nearly as good if they'd dragged it out to let's say... 12 hours. It's the perfect amount of time for the kind of game that it is. Not every game can be Oblivion and last you 200 hours.
