im probably late but aren't they forgetting the PC version will be able to make custom maps when thats released?
what i want to know is, whats gonna come after metacritic bombing? first it was "x game" boycott groups, now metacritic bombing, what next? something that will make a difference?
If Valve ever decides to implement day 1 DLC that actually alters gameplay, I will happily sabotage Gabe's refrigerator. Until then, I don't really care.
On the other hand, the single-player is truly amazing. As said before, I'd rather have 4 hours of super awesome singleplayer, than 9 hours of repetetive shit that gives you a headache (Looking at you Assassin's Creed 1) Portal 2 is also really well optimized, I thought it'd fry my PC up, but it runs really smoothly.
Seems like all people do on FP now is bitch about how bad games are. If Portal 2 is a bad game then I don't know what a good one is.
of course you dont, thats the problem with gaming these days, the developers have realised how fucking STUPID the customers are
Portal 2 is a good game but yea valve is starting to get some of there ideas from microsoft.
of course you dont, thats the problem with gaming these days, the developers have realised how fucking STUPID the customers are
i'm ok with this
Portal 2 is a good game but yea valve is starting to get some of there ideas from microsoft.
Microsoft requires you to spend the money, valve just puts it out there.
I dident read your post because I like good spelling and grammar and what you get for your time is to little. [editline]19th April 2011[/editline] Then don't spend money on the stuff. If they don't make money on that stuff then maybe it'll go away.
Obviously you did read it if you pointed out my spelling errors.
To the people who are defending Valve on this one, stop being a fanboy for just a minute. I've supported most of what Valve do and generally see them as one of the last hopes in the PC Gaming industry, but releasing DLC on the first day and the whole potato sack advertising campaign is just a dick move. I just hope that they learn from the mistakes they made on this to prevent it happening again in the future.

Are you thinking that maybe because they made a quality 5-10 hour puzzle game with some day one DLC, aesthetic only, completely optional and pointless that's striking your incredibly misplaced ire?

It's fear mongering, its like the republicans screaming, "THEY'LL TAKE YOUR RIGHTS AWAY!" but in this case its, "THEY'LL TAKE YOUR CASH BECAUSE YOU MUST HAVE THAT HAT!"
Portal 2 is also really well optimized, I thought it'd fry my PC up, but it runs really smoothly.
Yeah it really is. I have one of those hybrid power laptops that switch between Intel's HD graphics and the GPU. So I was disappointed that at max settings the game was a bit laggy, so I just played on default and finished it. Just a few hours ago I noticed I wasn't playing on the GPU :rolleye:
My theory. People who complain OBVIOUSLY haven't bought the game.
My theory. People who complain OBVIOUSLY haven't bought the game.
your theory sucks then
Same thing with DA2 really.

If I were a betting man I'd put money on when Episode 3 or TF3 or whatever is being released they'll see that people are willing to put money down to try and unlock something early and do the same.
Just give this post boxes.
and the whole potato sack advertising campaign is just a dick move.
Okay, please explain how that was a dick move. Bunch of indie games at a low price and Portal 2 got released in the morning (for me) rather than 7 pm so I could play it earlier. Oh wait, I know. It's because people thought they could actually get it sometime during the weekend and now they're whining because they can't play it as much as they want because of school.

Look, Day 1 DLC Sucks dick, cock, balls, and donkey assholes, But not this kind of DLC. Releasing the game and right beside it releasing 3 extra hours of gameplay with more quests in new areas you otherwise wouldn't have in your game unless you paid $10 is bullshit. A Stupid hat and skin for your robot that you can't even see except when you use a gesture is not the kind of Day 1 DLC you should be upset about, and if you are, really need to step back and look at the bigger picture. You aren't complaining about the game's story, graphics, gameplay, features, voice acting, humor, uniqueness... you like those things, but the game gets poor user ratings because of these $1.99 hats? That's like getting Windows 7 with Photoshop and Vegas Pro but getting angry over Microsoft asking you to pay an extra $5 for MS Paint and Movie Maker Secondly, this Potato Pack. It's marketing. Valve is marketing for the small time indie developers who have really high piracy rates in comparison to big time games, and have smaller incomes anyway. That's nice, what Valve did for the small guys. Some of those games are good fun, and they were on sale individually anyway. If you wanted one, you got to get it cheaper. If you didn't want one, you didn't have to buy any of them. If NO ONE Bought ANY of them, Portal 2 would be delayed, for TEN WHOLE HOURS Which would mean that it would release on the date scheduled weeks ago, as planned Fucking Hell

Just a few hours ago I noticed I wasn't playing on the GPU :rolleye:
It really seems to use available hardware efficiently, my GTX260 gets to 70 degrees with the fan reaching 93% while playing it (completely maxed), no other game has managed to work it that hard.
If there's one thing you can count on it's human stupidity when faced with something as golden as Portal 2. Probably all the fat jokes.
people are complaining about portal 2 only being 4 hours long? isn't that pretty good since portal 1 was like, what, 30 minutes to 1 hour if you rushed?
people are complaining about portal 2 only being 4 hours long? isn't that pretty good since portal 1 was like, what, 30 minutes to 1 hour if you rushed?
Apparently playing a 12 hour puzzle game sounds fun to them.
as much as i hate valve's item stores portal 2 was excellent
people are complaining about portal 2 only being 4 hours long? isn't that pretty good since portal 1 was like, what, 30 minutes to 1 hour if you rushed?
It took me 7 hours to finish Portal 2. Never heard of anyone doing it in 4 hours.
it took me 10 hours to finish it
Took me 8.2 iirc, 12 hours when combined with co-op. Some extra hours doing achievement bullshit (still not finished, fucking fever) It really isn't that bad length-wise, i don't like the marketplace either but unless they start handing out co-op missions like candy it's irrelevant, since i see no reason to play it again (except for achievements)
Same thing with DA2 really.
Completely different. DA2 suffered from many, very easily defined game design and writing problems. Portal 2's arrival just has a lot of bits that the community doesn't seem to agree with the spirit of. None of which actually have anything to do with the game itself, just the way it's packaged. [editline]20th April 2011[/editline]
as much as i hate valve's item stores portal 2 was excellent
I think so long as they draw the line right fucking there, it's okay if some poor boobs want to shovel out cash to fund Gabe Newell's pizza fund, it's alright with me. If you're thick enough to buy that shit I say you deserve it. Think of it as redistribution of wealth, to each according to how not fucking stupid they are.
