I mean is anyone complaining about the mechanics of the game? About the quality of the co-op campaign? About the writing or the graphics? About the attention to detail or the level design? I guess you could count "it's too short" as a complaint, but even that seems to depend solely on how good you are and if you care about co-op.
i thought this was /v/ being a bunch of derps
I've put 12.1 Hours into Portal 2, that includes finishing the singleplayer and Co-op, with a little running around exploring time after. Not bad considering every minute not spent solving a puzzle had Dialogue, story and humor. Not to mention when the SDK is released we'll be seeing campaigns out the ass offering bigger challenges and many times more hours than the game offers now. The game itself is essentially perfect and extremely polished. The low scores are just grudge scores about something they don't like not even having to do with the game itself
Really? Your decision to buy/play Portal 2 is not based by the games story and atmosphere, but by something that you don't even have to care about? I respect your decision as I too find the store necessary, but you are also missing out a great single player and co-op experience by Valve due to that.
4h gameplay.. that put me off. The original game was short too but at least it was bundled with two other great games. In the Orange Box, that is.
steam timer is borked there's no way you can finish portal two in under 5 hours
Look at all those hornes asses complaining about optional shit
don't understand why people are complaining played the sp, honestly thought at the end that it was the best game I'd played since half life 2.
What the hell? Why is the DLC even an issue? Nobody is forcing them to buy it.
steam timer is borked there's no way you can finish portal two in under 5 hours
Hmm ok.. I'm just basing what I said on stuff I've heard.
I also find it really stupid how people are complaining about the Potato Sack. "How dare Valve try and throw a bone to indie developers while marketing their own product!" "How dare Valve, a company who's primary source of revenue is sales of games through an online store, try to market said games to us, the consumer!" You are basically bitching about a company trying to make money. I hate to sound like a fanboy, but grow up. All your complaints are nitpicking. The campaign is perfectly long if you flesh it out and include co-op. The DLC is completely non-essential, and it's not as if Valve are cramming it down your throat with advertising. And I'm willing to bet that the best argument someone can give for me saying this is "ur a stupid valve fanboy" /rant
Just finished co-op and have yet to finish the SP and I've clocked about 10 hours so far. Worth. Every. Penny.
Incredible how people bitch about the "DLC". It doesn't even affect gameplay. Are people just butthurt since they can't afford it or what? I don't want to buy hats so I don't. Is it that hard? Portal 2 is an amazing game and even though I completed the singleplayer there is still a ton of coop and the sdk is coming soon.
Took me 9 hours to complete campaign. :frown: I'm slow, got stuck some parts, and explored as much as I could. Why would you RUSH through Portal games? Lol. Good purchase imo.
Source: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-04-19-portal-2-metacritic-user-score-pounded Honestly I think the bad reviews are unwarranted. The console message was an issue due to the PS3/PC compatibility which is beyond what valve has ever done before so errors are bound to happen. Plus it's simply visual DLC and not shit like CoD and Crysis 2 map packs.
I stopped at the monumentally retarded "Hurr durr PC gaemingg es dieing ;downs;'':;;".
Who cares? It's a good message for valve to stop making shit.
Fuck the user score. If people can just hop on and 0/10 the game with *fantastic* comments such as these, (trolling or not) it's not worth paying attention:
The co-op robots clearly rip off of Mario and Luigi. When will PC gamers stop ripping off of the purity of console games? Since this game isn't coming out for Wii there's no way I'm playing it.

valve are you even trying? 0/10 valve are you even trying? 0/10 valve are you even trying? 0/10 valve are you even trying? 0/10 valve are you even trying? 0/10 valve are you even trying? 0/10 valve are you even trying? 0/10 valve are you even trying? valve are you even trying? 0/10 valve are you even trying? 0/10

it is a sin and an obviously cash grab to have day 1 DLC that should have been included in the game to begin with. shame on you valve. you should have treated your loyal fans better than this.

this game is unplayable unless you have 90 dollars, Gaben must have been too fat to think of releasing a game in it's pre-alpha phase and throw 90 dollars of content into a virtual store final boss (spoilers removed)This is the worst game I have ever played

Fuck the user score. If people can just hop on and 0/10 the game with *fantastic* comments such as these, (trolling or not) it's not worth paying attention:
The first comment is a troll comment. I laughed pretty damn hard.
How the fuck are people saying it's 4 hours long? Yeah, if you just rushed trough the whole game and knew exactly how to complete all of the puzzles then yeah, you might finish it in 4 hours, but why would you do that on your first playtrough? I was playing it without rushing, without taking too long to complete most puzzles and it took me about 6 hours.
You say that like 6 hours is a long time. Valve advertised this game like if it was going to be a full version of Portal. So for this to be only 6-8 hours is a stab in the back from Valve. And then they have the audacity to charge us full price for this game? They did. I won't be buying this just like I never bough L4D2. Not because of all the negativity against it, but because Valve has betrayed me once again.
Honestly, I love this game, and I couldn't give less of a fuck what these people think of it or me for liking it. The gameplay is some of the best in any game, and I've gotten way more enjoyment out of it than CoD could possibly have given me. I say let these people bash it for being unique instead of being CoD; at least we won't have to worry about them playing co-op with us.
TO ALL THE PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT COSMETIC DLC , I PRESENT TO YOU : [img_thumb]http://pcmedia.ign.com/pc/image/article/103/1036795/killing-floor-update-hands-on-20091020000533192.jpg[/img_thumb] Don't see anyone complaining to tripwire , do you? Does it affect the game? no.
I can't see why anyone's complaining about this, it took me two solid days to beat Portal 2, and I put down World of Tanks to do it. On a side note, the ending is nothing short of Lunatic-scale spectacular, but anymore than that and I'd spoil it for those who've yet to play it. :v:

And would you really want to play a 20 hour puzzle game? No. It'd get boring as hell. The game lasts exactly as long as it should, just like the first game.
I'd like a long puzzle game, but they have to be damn good puzzles
ITT gamers remind the world once again that they are entitled babies
This is quite true sadly.
It just got kinda boring really, I can't get myself to play it 2 straight hours to finish it.
steam timer is borked there's no way you can finish portal two in under 5 hours
Yeah, it told me that I finished Home front in 3.5 hours.
An article from 2007 about Valve refusing to charge for extra downloadable content. http://www.monstersandcritics.com/gaming/pc/news/article_1309466.php/Valve_won_t_charge_for_downloadable_content For all of the people out there who are arguing that this isn't a big deal, this is proof that Valve is in fact actively changing the very same policies that made it the company it is. I'm all for the complaints people are voicing. Valve needs to hear them, and I think they have.
Hmm, I wouldn't call hats the have no effect DLC. Also, everything that you can buy in the Mann Co. store that is able to be used ingame can be found without purchase.
