Shit man, where have you been?
That's basically all I can say about this. People haven't just been giving a fair score of the game and saying "and I thought the store was kind of lame." Nope. An optional feature means all of Valve's hard work is shit.

shit like this makes my blood boil.
Dull level design makes the user wonder what the developers were thinking when making this game. The levels are broken and the art design makes me dizzy. Absolutely god awful, I can't believe Valve would treat it's loyal users like this. Potato sack gimmick also made them millions, TO RELEASE A GAME EARLY THAT THEY COULD'VE ANYWAYS? What a crock! The cash shop is the final straw, I will never buy another Valve game
yeah they made millions selling other peoples games and then giving away the Valve complete pack for free, good assumption jackass
I give the new Portal a 2/10.

These are done in segments and probably took months and months to perfect, segmented speedruns are an illusion
I don't believe anyone else in their right mind would try to do what I have done in this video. I completed the first segment on September 13, 2008, 06:12 AM and the last segment on July 03, 2010, 08:32 PM. Almost 2 years of working on this.
Still awesome regardless.
Here's two things that I, someone who has no intention on purchasing Portal 2 (long story), has gathered from reading this thread:
1) The individuals who "pounded" Portal 2's Metacritic scoring system were uninformed teenagers and people who have nothing else better to do than harm a company's public image because a product they made doesn't meet their specific, elitist criteria (even though I think it did, just people being uninformed though, eg "LOL THE PC GAME TOLD ME NOT TO TURN OFF MY CONSOLE!!!!111 SHITTY PORT DETECTED!)
2) 889 replies in under a day? Really, Facepunch? If you sort the threads in the In The News forum by the most replies, this thread is right up there with the threads about the North Korean mortar strike, the Georgian-Russian war, and the Gaza-Israeli war.
What the fuck happened to gamers? It's the only market in the entertainment industry that reacts so hostilely and destructively to new releases (supposedly) failing to please them. When a film that was supposed to be the BEST MOVIE EVER flops, people still pay full price to see it and laugh it off. Reviewers and critics write up constructive criticism. People don't threaten to BOYCOTT THE DIRECTOR!!!!!!!!!1

I cut myself off from gaming until I have a life (as in healthy, preferably outdoors hobbies, and friends, because currently I have no friends and sit in my room literally all day, never leave except to go to classes then come home). For now that means I'm not buying or playing any new PC games, and if I don't have any friends by the end of the semester I'm deleting my Steam account (spent about $400 on it...) so I can't spend the entire summer shuttered in my room staring at a goddamn computer screen.
if episode 3 comes out tomorrow, i won't buy it.
as i said, long story

If movies are doughnuts, then video games are day-old doughnuts that someone stepped on but not deliberately.

short question:
why the hell are you on facepunch arguing about videogames then
You know something's wrong when the in-game store of portal 2's items averages up to the game's price and over
All I'm saying is that the internal market of Portal 2 represents have low Valve has sunken and how much they want money, ok?
All I'm saying is that the internal market of Portal 2 represents have low Valve has sunken and how much they want money, ok?
not very low :v:
For fuck sake guys, the items are unlockable through playing the game!
This just goes to show how great Portal 2 actually is: people can't find anything else to moan about, so they just bash some non-essential (AND unlockable) cosmetic item shop. And that whole thing about play time? Yeah, I just finished the singel-player campaign. Took me five hours to complete, and on Friday, me and my bro are going to play the coop campaing which should be just as long as the main campaign.
This whole thing shows that, when it comes down to it, some PC-fanboys are whining assholes who are never grateful when a company, like Valve, takes extra time to make sure the PC-version of a game gets the best treatment.
TL;DR to all the haters, just play the damn game.

If that's all you're saying, why did you say various other things against the game and Valve as well?
Valve released Portal and Episode 2 in 2007, they have lost a shit ton of money in development. The Optional DLC is just to help them fix their funds. Steam's profits mostly go to developers.

kay now that's fucking stupid
valve has announced that, in terms of profit vs. expenditure, they make more money than fucking Apple.
Which, most importantly, means they aren't fucking strapped for cash and you're a fucking idiot if you think they are.
Valve is the developer.
For a collective of young, liberal and intelligent people...You all come off as angsty atheists, fanboys and radicals who are completely in-tolerant of someone else's thoughts or beliefs.

Haha, oh wow. Opinion =/= Fact
Take a crappy game, and crappy game in this case is defined by a very large consensus that the game is bad(In this case it is somewhat the opposite). Someone may still like it, and therefore to them, it is not a bad game. Really, it doesn't matter as long as you have fun. If a cosmetic feature that you don't need and doesn't change the game frustrates you, or makes you despise the game, you probably should not be playing in the first place.

I find it hilarious how ironic and hypocritical this post is.
in-tolerant of someone else's thoughts or beliefs.
Nobody on the like-side of Portal 2 is this (as far as I've seen), the fact is that if you had said that it's a bad game in your opinion, we would have accepted that, but here you go and say that it IS a bad game and if we say anything else, we're supposedly stupid.
Now who's in-tolerant of someone else's thoughts or beliefs?

If you feel that the silly hats and skins are a crucial part of Portal 2, sure.
Weren't they giving everyone who accessed the store on release day all of the stuff for free anyway?
TO EVERYONE PULLING THE "Amount of time i spent in portal 2" NUMBER OUT OF THE STEAM TIMER:
