I think the reason people get so pissed about it is because Valve is acting really greedy.
Having a store for micro transactions is about the farthest thing from fucking greedy. Greedy is forcing you to buy a large piece of DLC for money in order to play a game you already own. Valve is doing no such thing and to compare them to the likes of activision with their behaviour is just wrong.
It does ruin the feel a bit. Not 5.1 much, but enough that it's not an obvious 10
Well that's an opinion thing isn't it. I disagree, but of course, you've also got the right to think so. I suppose that's pretty much the end of the debate. I give Portal a 6/10 It's short, it's a console port and it's got dlc from the start. It's a game you should play, but only when you have nothing else to play and it's going cheap. £10 pounds isle cheap. Vote me dumb if your a valve dicksucker and have no morals.

But hell, what do I care?

While you might think buying this game will encourage valve to make more dlc that costs money (which might be true) it will also encourage story and innovation. Something the gaming industry has forgotten about recently. edit though I think its weird that they put a movie trailer into portal.
Guys I hate going to the cinema. You know all those micro transactions before you go to the movie. Popcorn etc. I know I don't have to buy them all, but if I don't I just feel like I'm missing something and I'm not getting the whole experience. That's why I give Inception a 4/10.
I think the reason people get so pissed about it is because Valve is acting really greedy.
when they start charging for weapons and maps I'll give a shit, but this is cosmetic hats, and since I never gave a shit about hats in the first place this doesn't bother me in the slightest
Bad analogy.
Actually good analogy.
Bad analogy.
Actually, it fits quite fine.
Let us not forget about Nintendo. Their games have kept us amused for generations.
Again, matter of opinion. I grew tired of Mario really quickly.
Vote me dumb if your a valve dicksucker and have no morals.
Sorry, the martyr act "I know ill get called dumb for my beliefs" isn't going to work. It just proves you can't come up with a decent argument so you have to resort to saying childish baby shit to make it sound like you have a point. (you don't)

Also, the store is not technically DLC, and it doesn't even add anything to the gameplay that would make it a "must-buy". It's just for fun.
I thought Portal 2 was a pretty awesome game. I was excited for it, but I wasn't really thinking it would be amazing. After playing through the campaign, which took roughly 8 hours, and after playing some of the coop missions, I can say that this was a really amazing game. It just goes to show how much fun you can have in a game that focuses around the use of one single gun.
I like the idea of hats, but I think they should either be Achievements only or the store that sells them sells everything at 50 cents, which is a proper price for cosmetic items in games, if you ask me. At most 99 cents. [editline]24th April 2011[/editline]
Yeah well, wouldn't you cash off on idiots?
... I bet I would.
Its not a port you idiot
I don't think he was being serious, because no human being could be that stupid. You have to have even worse brain damage than Chell to give Portal 2 that much hate. Anyways, it's User Review has climbed up to 8.0. Sadly, this is still an under-rating and should rise to at least >9.
Anyways, it's User Review has climbed up to 8.0. Sadly, this is still an under-rating and should rise to at least >9.
I doubt anyone cares about the users score, they are never like the reviewers score and most the the reviewers either give something a 10 or a 0.
I doubt anyone cares about the users score, they are never like the reviewers score and most the the reviewers either give something a 10 or a 0.
Call of duty games gets a 9 or at 10 with Reviewers score.
Call of duty games gets a 9 or at 10 with Reviewers score.
Well 4 was considered great by everyone at the time because it was before they started just shelling out call of duty games (or clones of it). If you look at all the other ones after there on average a 3 while the reviewers are around a 9.
I don't see why people are so fucking anal when they review things. As if every aspect of the game has to be created to their standards.
Why is it that the 0-point reviews always claim the game is 4 hours long (i.e. completely ignoring the co-op), but then complain about the DLC (something that can only possibly affect you if you play the co-op)? you cant have it both ways dweebs
I honestly cannot believe that people are actually upset about the online store. You should be grateful for such an enjoyable game. [editline]24th April 2011[/editline]
An article from 2007 about Valve refusing to charge for extra downloadable content. http://www.monstersandcritics.com/gaming/pc/news/article_1309466.php/Valve_won_t_charge_for_downloadable_content For all of the people out there who are arguing that this isn't a big deal, this is proof that Valve is in fact actively changing the very same policies that made it the company it is. I'm all for the complaints people are voicing. Valve needs to hear them, and I think they have.
Oh my god. They are 2-second animations, not map packs and game modes. You all need to stop bitching jesus christ.

If anything, the angsty teens should be grateful for it.
I love reading the metacritic reviews, and how most of them are about COSMETIC DLC THAT DOES NOTHING BUT CHANGE HOW YOU LOOK IN GAME.
STOP. CALLING. IT. DLC. You don't download anything
Actually you do download it, but it downloads for everyone, it's just unlocked for those who buy it :v:
