Some of your points here are valid, but you need to consider who's playing it. There are some people who just can't grasp the concept of portals, and will just throw portals around wherever to solve the test. Limiting it at least makes it easier for them to grasp what they should do.
I have not played Portal 2, there are other things I would rather purchase that I feel would occupy me for longer, but this seems like a poor counter-argument. Making the game piss-easy for the sake of people who don't want puzzles in their puzzle games makes the game worse for people who would truly enjoy the Portal kind of game. Sort of like those mixed ability classes in school, they were always an extremely poor idea, as it just drags down those who truly want to put effort into the subject and learn about it.
Diversity vents weren't fun. "oh boy, it sucks." Not much you can do in the way of puzzles with that.
Is this explained in the commentary? I haven't gotten around to it yet. If so I'll concede that point.
As I'm typing this I have 2 songs from the game that weren't from the ending or The National in my head right now. Both of them are really good.
linky?
People who claim to beat it in 4 hours are using guides and running through the entire game not listening to anything at all, it's a horseshit lie.

bull fucking shit
Half-Life 2 had larger levels and more physics props than Portal 2, and it came out in fucking 2004.
nope
nope
It did though I'm not going to get into whether that was a good decision or not, but the fact of the matter is that Half-Life 2 did have more physics props than Portal 2 did, since a lot of Portal 2's 'physics' were pre-calculated
it's called an entity limit. they had to have those loading screens whether you like it or not
why are you talking about loading screens also i'm talking purely of physics props, and a lot of things in-game other than props can be entities so I don't know what you're getting at about that either
why are you talking about loading screens also i'm talking purely of physics props, and a lot of things in-game other than props can be entities so I don't know what you're getting at about that either
I was talking to brain damage
Except when it's a fucking puzzle game. You're playing the wrong genre, seriously.
I like Portal though.
He never said that. Hes scared of that this trend will lead to more paid dlc. Its not activision but hes scared that it might be slipping towards it. I dont think anyone really cares that much about the hats its what it might mean thats people hate.
GAAAAAAAAAH! SLIPPERY SLOPE IS A FALLACY!
IT GETS WORSE, GUYS! http://store.valvesoftware.com/index.php?t=1&g=9 DAY 1 DLC COMES TO REAL WORLD!! AHHHHH!!!

I'll admit I haven't read through the whole thread, I just felt like I needed to say this: The game does NOT take fucking 4 hours to complete, unless you are rushing and basically don't give a shit about the game. As I heard someone say a few days ago, why the fuck would you buy a movie and fast forward it, and then continue to brag about how you finished it in 30 minutes? It took me about 7-8 hours, making sure I was seeing everything, and actually enjoying the game. The people who finish it in 4 hours might aswell get something else to play around with, 'cause this is clearly not their cup of tea. And the load times doesn't cut the pace at all, they're what, 10-20 seconds long? The game was amazing, stop pretending like it wasn't.

I think its an amazing game sure, just wish it had less loading screens especially in coop.
