Liberals usually fight for community over the individual.
since when
So rape=good? I...I have to go do some things... Way to go GOP, almost ruining a good thing.
Native tribal courts are stupid, Aboriginals should abide by the same laws and be subject to the same legal system as everyone else.
No they shouldn't. We raped their women and destroyed their villages. They deserve to have their own laws in the remaining sections of land they have left :colbert:
The reason the republicans voted against it is BECAUSE they are conservative. The current state kept government involvement out of the tribal matters. Just another way of saying they were trying uphold the separation of church and state. However I do believe something needed to be done. I am not against prosecuting rapists. I just wanted to point out they are not trying to just vote against the democrats.
there you go again leave it to retards like you to attach a negative connotation to liberal how dare people fight for individual rights and equality. only straight white christians should have rights. praise the lord.
You just called him politically intolerant then launched yet another attack on conservatives. I think something just blew up in my mind.

You see, I love America (even as a Canadian) but people from Canada use this kind of stuff against the USA declaring everyone in it "dumb". This is pretty stupid though.
FUN FACT! Shortly after the Civil war the south began killing the indians in anger. The Republican party voted TO send the U.S. Army The democrats voted against it. Just something i wanted to share. ALSO Everyone in the senate Republican,Democrat,Independent alike is a fucking corrupt fatcat.

You have to stay with in context. You can't compare that to today's parties.

I don't understand why they wouldn't do it.
I don't understand why they wouldn't do it.
Just like every other politic. They're corrupt. They need to be thrown out of senate and on to the street.
November, november
Don't stick up for them. I am Conservative and i hate the republicans in senate. It's just more money for them.
I wasn't sticking up for them. I was merely making a historical correction. If anything, my point would hinder making the Republicans in this situation look better. I lean to more conservative than liberal, and I have no love for Republicans. (Or Democrats, for that matter).

I really hope this is sarcasm or else you have no idea about history nor politics. [editline]07:06PM[/editline] Fun fact: Indians have their share of the blame during westward expansion/colonization. Fun opinion: They shouldn't deserve special treatment.
they share blame? are you fucking retarded?
Fun fact: Indians have their share of the blame during westward expansion/colonization. Fun opinion: They shouldn't deserve special treatment.
Those aren't fun nor are they facts
Fun fact: Indians have their share of the blame during westward expansion/colonization. Fun opinion: They shouldn't deserve special treatment.
Such audacious claims need to have an argument behind them. Since you give none, I'm guessing you're just a troll.
next he's going to say the Mexicans started shit with the south.
and that reagan was the greatest man to ever live
they share blame? are you fucking retarded?
Indians bartered, stole, killed, raped as much as the white people. The second they found out about guns they disgraced their own hunting grounds for fur in order to pay for them. Not to mention how eager the "peaceful" Indians turned to war once offered money (see American Revolution, or French and Indian War. If some one in this thread actually thinks that Indians just sat around as white men killed and plundered their villages I feel sorry for your lack of intelligence. Yes there were some sad events such as the "trail of tears" etc and I'm not justifying them. But to say that Indians didn't commit atrocious crimes themselves is ignorant. Take a look at "The Tuscarora War" or maybe "The Yamasee War". Both of which involve Native Americans slaughtering settlers. This shit wasn't all that uncommon. Take a good look at history and you can see that Indians are just as greedy and bloodthirsty if not more so than the whites [editline]07:58PM[/editline]
next he's going to say the Mexicans started shit with the south.
Ahhh ignorance

Half the battles and savagery the Native Americans did were in reprisal for the loss of their land and territory. Why did the Natives mostly side with the French in the Seven Years War? Because the French wanted to keep their territory just fur trading, with no major colonization. The English, on the other hand, were there to colonize and push their populations further inland. To say they "disgraced their hunting grounds" for the fur trade is an idiotic statement. I'm sure some took up the gun and went into fur trade, but you've made it sound like the entire population of Native Americans dropped what they were doing and went along with it. No.
the conservatives always like to pull the persecution complex card when they don't have a real argument
No the best part is "Democrats are exactly the same they have to work together!"
The White people kinda came to their land and killed them off, so uh, you're surprised they didn't like them? great point, u shure showed me!
Not necessarily, most if not all if I'm not mistake original Us colonies were founded with out much Native American conflict. I don't know what you're going on about. I just called your comment ignorant because it made no sense, and is unneeded. Not sure what else to say to that. Just trying to backup my point of view. Responses like those are uncalled for. Only person here worth talking to is emperor.
The White people kinda came to their land and killed them off, so uh, you're surprised they didn't like them?

Some historians now emphasize that to see the Indian wars as a racial war between Indians and White Americans simplifies the complex historical reality of the struggle. Indians and whites often fought alongside each other; Indians often fought against Indians. For example, although the Battle of Horseshoe Bend is often described as an "American victory" over the Creek Indians, the victors were a combined force of Cherokees, Creeks, and Tennessee militia led by Andrew Jackson. From a broad perspective, the Indian wars were about the conquest of Native American peoples by the United States; up close it was rarely quite as simple as that.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indian_Wars#Historiography
You know, I have to agree with Mr_Razzums on this point. They were no better than stone age savages. Highly xenophobic. Some practiced human sacrifice, tortured captives to death, others slaughtered other native populations for no reason. They killed, raped, slaughtered, had orgies, and on the other hand probablly were also polite, hospitable, kind or cruel, You had a few who might wearily accept you into their tribe, but in all honesty that's about as far as it goes. But then again you could say the same about most, if not almost all populations.

No.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deerskin_trade
So large was the scale that in time deer became nearly extirpated in the southeast. It also radically altered the society of the Cherokee, with men increasingly absent from towns for long periods to hunt deer, and a growing Cherokee dependence on European trade goods (Davis, 2000). By 1750, deer were becoming harder to find in Cherokee territory, while the tribe was simultaneously becoming entirely dependent on European trade goods, which contributed to growing tensions and conflict between the Indians of the southeast and the Europeans (as well as conflict between tribes).
You are indeed right in some aspects. But you too far underestimate the fur trade and how it ruined the Indians as a people. Like it says in that page, Indians did become addicted and dependent on goods from the Europeans. This was the start of the downfall of Indian tribes. [editline]08:57PM[/editline] By the way I'm a fairly liberal independent voter. But on some issues I have to call bullshit.
