No they aren't. There are public decency laws.
of course there are (and rules of dress in private settings like banks etc. are different). like you can't walk around naked and you can't go around shouting curses so which public decency laws are the fellows in the OP violating?
grow up. if it's not hurting anybody who cares? it takes pretty minimal effort to either a. look away or b. move away if it really bothers you that much
Just because they're gay doesn't mean no one is allowed to complain if they're in public wearing something that's near-pornographic, and it doesn't mean everyone who complains is a bigot. People would complain if non-homosexuals went in public wearing something that obscene.
Im not talking about me, im talking about people in general. If you do that kind of shit in public you make yourself look bad.
the people that have a problem with that are morons and noone should change nothing for their benefit.

However those that do perform these actions give a bad image to the rest of them.

Do you even listen to yourself?
That's pretty sad. You would give up eating a delicious cookie because you're against something you don't agree with. Lot's of stupid comments on that page too.
yeah thats usually how being against something works
The parades may not always help abolish the stereotypes. The parades were set in place to show support, right? Isn't that the main message of the parades? Support for others like them? I know some behavior is a bit... odd, but many people are weird. I see nothing wrong with it, people will be people. Weird or not. Yay, Rainbow Oreos. I would eat the entire package, if they were sold.
Yay, Rainbow Oreos. I would eat the entire package, if they were sold.
I probably wouldn't because I tend to get sick from colored foods that aren't usually colored (rainbow bread, colored (not flavored) milk) I guess that means I'm a homophobe :C
I honestly don't see anything wrong with it. If you don't find it to be your liking, don't participate. End of story.
That's not the point he's making. Parades like this are kind of a double edged sword... I can imagine to a repressed gay youth, it can give them reassurance that they're not the only one out there. I can't really say. But should we present muscular men in tight boxers and fairy wings as the face of homosexuality? I don't think so. It's contrary to the idea that gay people are completely normal human beings, the only difference being what gender they're interested in.
This is still discrimination, you're against something just because you don't like it It's not like all gays act like this either, minority does if anything
Nor is he implying parades like this need to be banned. Simply that they can be counterproductive.
yeah people like louis ck look at that obscene motherfucker
2,079 × 3,602 image, now that's obscene, I tell you what.

This saddens me
the facebook comments are so depressing. it's awful that some people are still like that
who is taking these people as the "face of homosexuality"? you shouldn't base your opinion of a group of people on any single person or minority because if you do you're ignorant straight people can do flamboyant, stupid, or offensive things too (like be homophobic!). do you judge all straight people by the actions of minorities? [editline]29th June 2012[/editline] s'why I quoted it
He's not saying that's his personal view of it, he's presenting how a lot of people can view this. Many people in this country just see what they perceive as obscene from these parades and they tune out. They're not interested in hearing the message of the movement anymore. Their only understanding of gay people at that point is what they saw in the parades. They're often against obscenity, they make the link from the limited amount of information that they have that Gay=HORRIFIC SEX-CRAZED DEPRAVED MALES, and you have another misinformed homophobe. You can see this mentality in a lot of hate speech against homosexuality. Yeah, that's not how a smart person would approach it, but let's face it, we don't exactly have a lot of those here.
might be fake, dunno, it looks so exaggerated though if it's real then please kill me
'Muricah
No no no, thats not what I meant at all! I'm just saying that them doing stuff like this at parades is bad for their image. [editline]29th June 2012[/editline]
If a bunch of black people went outside in obscenely tight fitting swimsuits and started shaking their junk at people I wouldn't call someone racist for having a problem with it
No but if a bunch of black guys went out protesting against racial discrimination I would call someone racist for having a problem with it. You see how that analogy makes a WHOLE lot more sense?
adam and EVE not adam and STEVE
Whats wrong with Steve? He's a Nice guy, I'm sure Eve can see the good in him!

Apparently some believers don't take "Love thy neighbor" very literally. edit: Apparently 3 pages later than I thought I was, whoops.
