Well, looks like they're going to have to be added to this list:

Things have certainly been hard for the high street these past years.

Oh wait, they already have.
Oh well.
The HMV's near me have always been far too overpriced to bother with, pre-owned games for the price I could pay for them new.
The worst I ever saw was Rage (I think it was rage, the Bethesda one that completely flopped) for £40.00 pre-owned months after release.
Well, GAME survived.. and I assume HMV will being a popular choice for music buyers.

This might be wrong, but I think I remember reading that GAME was bought by the company that owns PC World and Currys
The HMV's near where I live were always good for games, always about a tenner cheaper than Gamestop and Game. My local shopping centre HMV and Game, and I'd always buy from HMV.
If I want to buy an album on CD, I'm not paying $25+ for the fucking thing.
If you're ever picking up a new console game you should check out HMV too, sometimes they have new games for cheaper than other retailers.
this shouldn't surprise anyone. i went in to do some christmas shopping and the game section was a single shelf of the top 5 games, each with about 4 copies each, and the rest of the floor was a pre-owned section where you could get whopping deals like £2 off a 6 month old title
i haven't bought music on physical media since i was like 8 years old because the services that are offered to me online are more convenient, cheaper, and offer the music in higher qualities
if places like hmv and game wanted to avoid this fall then they should have actually observed what was going on in the world and done something drastic a decade ago. now i'm just waiting for whsmiths to go under
