Two entire language teams have been shut out of the Steam Translation Servers, one for almost half a

This pretty much explains why the Lunar New Year Steam Sale is all on english, and why translations around Steam and some games have been so shitty lately.
It draws my attention that Valve said no to have Georgian language on Steam, despite having 300 volunteers according to one reddit user. I wonder how many languages have been rejected too.
In the end, is always the same problem with Valve: lack of communication. You would think they have enough money to create a huge PR team after all these years...

As a native speaker of the English language I want you to know that you're being completely pants-on-head ridiculous. There is nothing wrong with learning a new language and in an ideal world we would all know one core language as a society and I think we are slowly moving that way. But there is absolutely nothing wrong with having translations of material into different languages.
There's more people that speak Chinese than English, and seeing as your country's got more debt to China than anyone else in the world, how about you go about and learn Chinese.
I mean after all, like you said, we're all moving towards one language, and judging America's financial situation then it's not gonna be English.

A world that speaks one uniform language in its entirety is faaaaar from ideal, in my view.
Mandarin Chinese and Spanish are both more widely spoken than English but I get your point and since Spain is a part of Europe maybe the government should try harder to teach everyone English. I don't think translations are just there to cater to lazy people though.
Can we dispel with this; Mandarin and Spanish are both spoken by more people than English as a first language. However, when considering additional spoken languages English is in second and far closer to Mandarin, though apparently such data isn't as reliable.
English is also the official language in the most countries by far (followed by Arabic, French, and Spanish) and is the top language on the Internet (with Mandarin being the only other anywhere close).
It really depends on how one defines widely; Mandarin is concentrated by a few countries with huge populations, English permeates large portions of the world.

Maybe they dont want to spend money to create a huge PR team.
Well would you look at that.... Looks like Valve's flat structure is finally bursting at the seams.
Huh, what a suprise I guess. I rarely do stuff in the STS anymore, but if this is what's been happening while I was gone... wow. :v:

Too lazy to learn english? What made english earth's native language?
He made a bad post, sure, but your post isn't any better.
No one just "makes" a language the native language. Obviously English has evolved into or as close to humanity's first official language, for so many reasons.
No matter where you go in the world, you can expect someone to speak English to. Except for tribes shut off from the world.
Why?
Diversity is a necessity.
When all other languages die, so do many cultural differences, and while some of them are bad, many of them aren't negative at all.
To be honest what even is the point of having such translations, besides of for catering to people who are too ignorant or lazy to learn english?.
Pretty difficult and time consuming to learn a language when you're older.
