By "work for less money" does that mean the minimum wage was above 7 dollars in the 80s? Also, it is Bush's fault we are in debt today, Clinton created a surplus. Reaganomics were an experiment but his 2nd term was much more liberal than his 1st. Not only did he open talks with the Soviet Union in his 2nd term, we practically became best friends until they collapsed.

He made up phony programs like the StarWars missile defense program and generally built up the military, forcing the soviet union to match the spending, and therefore started its collapse. He only benefited the economy. You may see an increase in government spending and deficit but the economy was the best since WW2. Not to mention a lot of the problems from Jimmy Carter's mistakes and the recession from the Carter administration spilled over into his first term.
