Just spoke to my family in Scotland and they've said I can move in with them if Scotland votes to leave the UK and remain within the EU. Neat.
Plus the British economy is going to be shrink, our currency volatile, and we're tied to an increasingly irrelevant country? Why bother staying? Let's leave the sinking ship
I'd tell them to fuck off if someone told me two years ago Sobotnik would turn pro-independence for Scotland :v: [editline]25th June 2016[/editline] I guess this is the true end for the British Empire :class:

That's pretty depressing.
For the first point, leaving the UK would have meant immediate exit from the EU - so they were correct in what they were saying. As for the second point, I think you need to further read up on how nations and referendums work. Good, so you will easily be able to find a source to quote then?
Hi, official Better Together Twitter account [t]http://ichef-1.bbci.co.uk/news/624/cpsprodpb/608E/production/_90081742_indy7.png[/t]
As for the second point, I think you need to further read up on how nations and referendums work.

How about the hypocrisy of the UK which rejects the EU for "sovereignty" and "democratic representation" yet does so against the will of the majority of the Scottish and wants them to stay in the UK. Where exactly is that fair representation they're babbling about once it comes to Scotland?
??? What the fuck does that have to do with nations or referendums? If Scotland were independent they would have remained in the EU even if a referendum about leaving was held, according to the results. The UK decided to leave because they felt the EU was undemocratic, and wanted more sovereignty, yet by leaving they go against the will of the majority of Scotland, which wants to remain in the EU, effectively denying Scotland its sovereignty. If Scotland were to become independent, it would be able to rejoin the EU, which would be in accordance with the will of its majority, thus more democratic. Don't you see the hypocrisy in wanting Scotland to stay in the UK while wanting the UK to leave the EU for sovereignty reasons?
I seriously start having problems following the mind bending jumps of the leavers in the face of reality happening so they don't have to admit that literally every single argument they have is bullshit at best or downright bigotry at worst.
Nearly 60 percent of Scots now support Scottish independence after Britain voted to leave the European Union this week, according to an opinion poll reported by a newspaper on Saturday.
source Please stick around long enough to give us a chance to vote in a remain government; selfishly a Britain without Scotland is Tory and I don't want to live under BJ.
So if that happens we get a new kingdom of England (wales + england) and possibly ireland reuniting?

(wales + england)

kingdom of England
Over my dead body.
Quote of proof? Bearing in mind the Scottish referendum took place after an EU referendum was promised...
Do you mean this?
I have a good feeling that the results will be different with the current situation in the EU. Many people were depending on that promise in the first referendum. Now they have a taste of how Britain treats them, many people will be moving from no to yes rather than yes to no.
If I was Scottish I'd be jumping to leave the UK. As an Englishman I hope the Scots DO leave the UK, just so it's an easy escape route from the rapidly sinking ship. More for them. The way they voted Remain by a huge margin and are still leaving the EU is a fucking democratic travesty.
I'm curious, if Scotland gains independence, would the Queen still be their monarch or would they be a republic? Or is there some Scottish dude to restart the Scottish monarchy? (Don't worry England, you'll always have Wales)
I'm curious, if Scotland gains independence, would the Queen still be their monarch or would they be a republic? Or is there some Scottish dude to restart the Scottish monarchy? (Don't worry England, you'll always have Wales)
fuck the monarchy
fuck the monarchy
But my liege, you are a monarch!
But my liege, you are a monarch!
But I'm not a puny king. I'm a regal Emperor. (also I'm reminded of the irony between my extreme anti-monarchy beliefs and my username every day :v:)
I think we're gonna have a kind of Scottish bloodbowl to decide who the new monarch is. I've been waiting 22 long years for this, I am prepared.
I think we're gonna have a kind of Scottish bloodbowl to decide who the new monarch is. I've been waiting 22 long years for this, I am prepared.
You need to name it "Claymores & Kilts"
You need to name it "Claymores & Kilts"
It's a good name but personally I'm opting for the flanged greatmace strategy.
Question. What would Scotland Joining back to EU do to the Global Economy, because Brexit, Caused a massive dump in a bunch of stock markets.
Question. What would Scotland Joining back to EU do to the Global Economy, because Brexit, Caused a massive dump in a bunch of stock markets.
It would take years. And there's no proof a good EU deal is even waiting for them. If Scotland left then there would be some real economic trouble.
It would take years. And there's no proof a good EU deal is even waiting for them. If Scotland left then there would be some real economic trouble.
it's funny because you could replace "Scotland" with "UK" in this post and it would be completely true
it's funny because you could replace "Scotland" with "UK" in this post and it would be completely true
Yep. But if Scotland does this, then we are in real trouble because it will just stack on top of the UK one.
Yep. But if Scotland does this, then we are in real trouble because it will just stack on top of the UK one.
I don't think it'll cause world wide repercussions like the UK leave, and while it'll probably hurt England if Scotland left, they're the ones who voted remain and should deal with the consequences as they come.
I'd not be surprised if Scotland were put on a fast track in to the EU simply to spite the UK.
I don't think it'll cause world wide repercussions like the UK leave, and while it'll probably hurt England if Scotland left, they're the ones who voted remain and should deal with the consequences as they come.
It will just create more market speculation and could be the thing to bring this whole thing down.
It will just create more market speculation and could be the thing to bring this whole thing down.
No offense to Scots, but I don't have that much faith in their economic involvement with the rest of the world.
I'm curious, if Scotland gains independence, would the Queen still be their monarch or would they be a republic? Or is there some Scottish dude to restart the Scottish monarchy? (Don't worry England, you'll always have Wales)
That's actually something that hasn't been decided yet. It's possible for an independent Scotland to hold the Queen as a monarch in the same way that other Commonwealth realm countries do since there isn't really any bad blood between Scotland and the monarchy, at least not like it is with Ireland.
