Original Banjo team forming to create a Spiritual Successor to Banjo-Tooie

Oh god! there are no words for what I would do for this game. NO WORDS!
It's a shame the 3D platformer genre has pretty much died this generation and any attempt doesn't sell well. It's so badly selling that it seems that even Nintendo doesn't want to make one.
I think it won't sell well, not because it's bad but because people don't buy 3D platformers.

Didn't the Super Mario Galaxy games sell fairly well?
Didn't the Super Mario Galaxy games sell fairly well?
They did sell well but it seems odd that Nintendo was repeatedly played it safe and only gone with 2D Mario games, and aside from this and the Ratchet and Clank's 3D platformers have died right out.
New from Bare: Ukelele-Vuvuzela!
Really? There are people who didn't like Nuts & Bolts? I thought that game was a blast. I wish we could get another one like it, even if it isn't Banjo-Kazooie.
The problem, as has been said, is that it was a completely different genre of game. It wasn't even a spin-off, but a "sequel".
It would be like if Halo 3 were suddenly a hack-n-slash.
Or if Valve made Half-life 3 an open world mmo-style rpg.
Or if Gears of War 3 were a visual novel.
Sure, they may be perfectly good versions of those genre of games, but why is it a sequel to a franchise that's a completely different genre?
Oh god oh man oh god oh man
The best news of the year
Don't be surprised if either Nintendo or Microsoft Game Studios fuck this up thanks to all the licencing issues that have plagued Rare and the series

How would Nintendo fuck it up?
Besides like, force it to be a 2D platformer. Even then I wouldn't mind, as long as it plays different than fucking New SMB.

That would be fucking amazing.
If they make a kickstarter jontron will be poor
I just want Rare to work for Nintendo again. So much potential.
All of the original guys jumped ship for other companies over the years of being assigned to nothing but kiddy games. The closest we have to Rare is Retro.
Holy fucking shit.

And the other employees who developed Goldeneye and Perfect Dark slid away into Crytek UK didn't they?

You're missing something.

In all honesty Nuts & Bolts would've been a wonderful game if they had stuck to what made Banjo Kazooie wonderful, instead of making fun of the past games and sticking cars in it. Besides the entire open world was empty with hardly any side quests and goofy shit to do.

Uncharted was extremely fun, but it lacked the open worlds that other great platformers had. With Banjo-Kazooie, you had so many different interesting places to explore, you didn't even have to find everything to beat the game, it was there for you to get rewarded. Uncharted is pretty much on rails with no choice in what you do. The on rails style isn't bad, it just doesn't have an end game, like stop and swop (unfortunately it was dropped in the next game) on Banjo-Kazooie.

Huh, interesting mindset.
The game was about the cars from the start. Banjo Kazooie were effectively irrelevant past the setting and overall art style. It was a game about making vehicles. All of the mechanics fundamentally tied back into vehicle creation.
It is a spinoff no different than Banjo Pilot. Games get them all the time and it is ridiculously rare to get a spinoff that is actually excellent in its own right like this one. It surprises me how much people are displeased by its existence.
Banjo-Threeie or whatever isn't a lie?
The gaming gods have not abandoned us!
I want a remake of Donkey Kong 64 or Super Mario 64, those were some of the best games I ever played.
Please do Jet Force Gemini 2/A spiritual successor to JFG too. I would love them forever.

Think of it this way, Nuts n Bolts wasn't a bad game. But it wasn't a Banjo Kazooie game.

Probably because it was originally marketed and hyped as a straight sequel to the original games.
I'd prefer a straight up sequel but obviously since they don't own the rights there's no way of that. Still, core members of the banjo team making a game in the same vein, I hope there's a kickstarter so I can throw my money at them.
Nuts and bolts was a pretty fun game, but there was no reason it should have been a Banjo Kazooie game.
By putting Banjo Kazooie on there it was pretty much just a slap to the face to people who wished for banjo threeie.
The bit where they actively mocked the audience who enjoyed the first two games really didn't help with the slap-to-the-face aspect.
Really? There are people who didn't like Nuts & Bolts? I thought that game was a blast. I wish we could get another one like it, even if it isn't Banjo-Kazooie.
Grant Kirkhope and Chris Seavor both hate Nuts and Bolts along with Microsoft and said Banjo 3 was a completely different game before they decided on the car concept.
So it says a lot when your composer tells you the game is garbage.
At this point JonTron is right about one thing, Nuts and Bolts didnt have to be a Banjo Kazooie game.
GOD FUCKING DAMNIT NO BANJO THREEIE?
Please let this be true.
Banjo-Kazooie & Tooie were amazing, arguably up there with best 3D-platformers of all time.
gah, why do people always say this?
I guess Dark Souls is shitty, Skyrim is shitty, Tribes is shitty, Assassin's Creed is shitty, Deus Ex HR is shitty, Dead Space is shitty, GTA IV/V is shitty, RDR is shitty, Max Payne 3 is shitty, Far Cry is shitty, CS: GO is shitty, Halo 4 is shitty, Uncharted is shitty, Borderlands is shitty, Mass Effect is shitty, Arma is shitty, Super Smash Bros, etc.
There are still very many good games. AVGN exists solely on the reason there are tons of shitty old games.
Most of those games you listed are actually pretty shitty IMO.
Mother of god.
In the darkness of shitty games, there is a light.
Good games if you aren't a hipster, just an age of bad business practices.
I didn't mind Nuts and Bolts but I could never play in the Banjoland level without missing the older games.

Just remembered I made a Banjo thread ages back.

It offers an alternative to chest high walls and super serious space operas.
