You're missing something.
Uncharted isn't really a good example. It's not really a pure platformer and has a lot of entirely assumed tradeoffs. It's more of a shooter with platformer elements than a full-on platformer.
Good games if you aren't a hipster, just an age of bad business practices.
Someone likes different video games to me, they must be a hipster.
Banjo Kazooie and Tooie were video game masterpieces, brilliant levels, characters, and some of the best, catchiest music ever put into any game. Best platformer games I've ever played. Microsoft went and ruined their future when they bought rare, so I never thought another sequel would ever be made. This is truly fantastic news, I can't wait.
All of my jizz.
I hope its not exclusive to any one console. And there's a PC version (although that's being REALLY optimistic).
People seem to be overlooking the spiritual part of sucessor. Its not a banjo game, just something that has similar elements. Also am I the only one who loved the Banjo Twooie FPS multiplayer? I played that for hours. Probably more than Goldeneye.

Also, it's incredibly unlikely, but possible that they could get the rights from Rare, at least partially. Kickstarter is a powerful thing.

Hopefully it features more voice acting by Grant Kirkhope. He will always be the true Donkey Kong voice to me.

I know that might sound stupid but god fucking damn it a new banjo game in the style of the old ones is all i want, i don't care if it's the last game anybody ever makes just SOMEBODY DO IT. Ugh...i'm sure it'll still be an amazing game though, i guess.
I'm sad because something like this will never happen to the Crash Bandicoot -series. A Rare opportunity indeed, no pun intended, to reboot a series. This better be so damn good that I'm the only one left dissapointed.
It's not going to be a reboot, it will be a spiritual successor. Bit of a difference.
Nuts and Bolts was a really fun game in my opinion, but it just shouldn't have been a Banjo game in the first place.
Someone likes different video games to me, they must be a hipster.
You cannot honestly say that not a single game that has released in the last two years has been good.
New from Bare: Ukelele-Vuvuzela! The problem, as has been said, is that it was a completely different genre of game. It wasn't even a spin-off, but a "sequel". It would be like if Halo 3 were suddenly a hack-n-slash. Or if Valve made Half-life 3 an open world mmo-style rpg. Or if Gears of War 3 were a visual novel. Sure, they may be perfectly good versions of those genre of games, but why is it a sequel to a franchise that's a completely different genre?
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
If they make a kickstarter jontron will be poor

-snip-
Uncharted was extremely fun, but it lacked the open worlds that other great platformers had. With Banjo-Kazooie, you had so many different interesting places to explore, you didn't even have to find everything to beat the game, it was there for you to get rewarded. Uncharted is pretty much on rails with no choice in what you do. The on rails style isn't bad, it just doesn't have an end game, like stop and swop (unfortunately it was dropped in the next game) on Banjo-Kazooie.
Well what about assassin's creed games ? They had quite big open worlds and the parkour aspects made it pretty fun to jump around on roof tops n shit :v: Besides the later games actually have some parts where platforming is necessary.
sweet shit BK and BT are still my favorite games. my life has meaning again
Really? There are people who didn't like Nuts & Bolts? I thought that game was a blast. I wish we could get another one like it, even if it isn't Banjo-Kazooie.
Nut & Bolts was an awful awful game. But I loved it. It had a great art style and maps. The gameplay wasn't Banjo but it was fun. Such is the world of video game franchising that I could accept the fact at some point we'll get another Banjo game that probably will be a platformer. But for now I'll enjoy the cars in this one-off game. [editline]27th September 2012[/editline] Also people getting excited and not understanding it. It's not a sequel to Banjo Kazooie, it's a spiritual successor. Like Bioshock to System Shock. Age of Mythology to Age of Empires. Sure it's kinda the same but it's not at all related. It'll just be a 3d collector-platformer with humour and shit.
Nuts and bolts was a pretty fun game, but there was no reason it should have been a Banjo Kazooie game. By putting Banjo Kazooie on there it was pretty much just a slap to the face to people who wished for banjo threeie.
Well, here's a fun bit of information: Microsoft fully intended to let them make a more direct sequel if nuts and bolts sold well. Basically, I'm saying it's all your fault, folks.
Well, here's a fun bit of information: Microsoft fully intended to let them make a more direct sequel if nuts and bolts sold well. Basically, I'm saying it's all your fault.
yeah but that's a pretty awful plan lmao. Give the fan base a sequel in a form they never wanted and if it somehow does well with them then you can give them what they actually wanted.
You cannot honestly say that not a single game that has released in the last two years has been good.
I never said that. Though the AAA market is full of terrible games.
Name them and why they are so terrible. Name 10 - since you said "full" - that have come out in the last 4 years. CoD only counts as one, but even then I can't say it's a "terrible" game, as it's not. Just not revolutionary
Well, using only that list the guy gave of apparently good games I can give you a few. Assassins Creed, Dead Space, GTAIV, Far Cry 2, Uncharted, Borderlands, Mass Effect. Edit: Oh that guy was you
I hope you're just making a joke here.
He was agreeing with you.
What are you talking about? I am asking YOU to name 10 AAA games that are "terrible" and have come out in the last 4 years, and why Why is Assassin's Creed terrible? Why is Dead Space terrible? GTA IV is terrible!? Even if it's subjective, you didn't name why and you couldn't name 10, so I still win
You honestly sound like a 12 year old. Assassins Creed is repetetive, with boring and unskillful combat. While the platforming has a very nice flow to it, it is never challenging or different. Dead Space is one of my least favourite games to be honest. Cheap jump scares, boring levels and unoriginal combat. There is nothing I can find redeemable in this game. GTAIV isn't as bad as the others in the list because the multiplayer can be pretty entertaining when playing with a bunch of friends. The single player was pretty bad though.
So, just because I am trying to get you to rethink your stance I "sound like a 12 year old". Yeah, you ooze of maturity. I don't like Assassin's Creed, I'm not defending it in a "12-year old's" fandom defense mentality. I am instead attacking the mentality that AAA games for some reason are so terrible, when you can't even describe many flaws in the games you dislike.
You don't sound like a 12 year old because you're defending assassins creed. You sound like a 12 year old because of: "you couldn't name 10, so I still win"
You probably didn't see my last edit: "What I am getting at is what makes them of low quality, not whether you like them or not. I dislike the brand Gibson for guitars, but I know they are high quality instruments for the most part (well used to be anyways)"
What? Just because a game has heaps of effort put into it, and it is technically and artistically sound, that doesn't mean it is a good game. I appreciate gameplay moreso than everything else.
You have still so far failed to identify what makes these games of terrible quality, and instead you've only said why they aren't your most appreciated games.
I did mention why they are terrible. Because the gameplay sucks.
And let's get this straight: Terrible: Extremely and shockingly or distressingly bad or serious: "a terrible crime" Again, which game you like or dislike is subjective, but even if you dislike something you should still be able to judge the quality of it for those who do enjoy it.
I never said they were low quality.
Stop making "no ur a 12 year old" arguments and get back to what's expected of you Gushing over the news and saying that Nuts & Bolts was a bad game because it's a spin-off
