Trump putting global markets at risk is the most frightening thing, but you shouldn't discount the other things - particularly LGBT rights.
The 2008 recession, literally the worst since the Great Depression, was almost entirely a result of the US subprime mortgage crisis. And it had global effects. If Trump actually implements his trade policies, 2018 could easily crash entire global markets and absolutely devastate global trade. I don't want to sound hyperbolic when I say it could be worse than the Great Depression, but it could be worse than the Great Depression. Trump's proposals are unprecedented and the effect they'd have on global markets aren't exactly clear, but they'd have wide-ranging effects without a doubt. If a housing crisis in the US can trigger a global recession, protectionist tariffs for all imports could do the same, and more.
The GD was in part due to the Gold Standard, which replicated and made the effects of the crisis in the USA appear in other parts of the world. Plus it delayed the recover of some countries like France (Fun fact: Japan had more industrial output than the US in the 20's and 30's).
Trump policies are actually just populist. They appeal to the short run in favour of political capital without any consideration whatsoever for real growth -read: progress- or innovation.
You guys are going to experience the Argentine model from the moment the guy steps into office. It might be nice for the first years, some wages going up, consumption going up....and then...inflation runs rampant, companies start having a shit load of problems, most people end up being employed by the state.
Crap, I almost forgot to end my argument: Now, there's no way the world economy can escape from anything that happens in the US. Before you just dropped the gold standard, manipulated the currency circulation and voila, recovery. Now you're done for good.

But at least we have this fucking wall am i right guys?
Last Thursday, likely in the context of the then-upcoming election, my geology professor gave a personal anecdote on his experiences of climate change first hand and how genuinely serious it is and how it is absolutely the biggest issue facing us as a species today. You could tell he really cared and was seriously passionate about our future and put his faith in us to make the right choice.
He's going to be devastated.

The wall isn't real.
It's a metaphorical wall.
It's an ideology for Americans to get behind: a strong anti-immigration stance with elements of protectionism and stuff.
It's just rhetoric.
People dont care about problems that only affect other people. That above all other things is the biggest threat to our species. Apathy kills.
Please someone explain why you support trump that isn't 'it's new politics' and 'fuck the system'.
What about trade?
NATO?
Global fucking warming?
Regulations?

I quite clearly know that. It bares no relevance to my post in any meaningful way.
Huh.
...So you paranoid guys wanna immigrate to Russia?
All three branches of the US government are set to be red. The republican stance is anti-lgbt. Put two and two together and formulate an argument with actual substance. Stop being childish.
Yeah because the republicans are going to use the next four years to rip apart LGBT rights? Please, they actually want to be re-elected.
I thought he only had a 10% chance?
What the fuck
I'd suggest moving to Ireland if you can, we'll welcome ya with open arms.
Was about time we became a place that people migrated to, and not place people migrated out of.
Yeah because the republicans are going to use the next four years to rip apart LGBT rights? Please, they actually want to be re-elected.
we don't know what they'll do yet . Don't call the idea out just yet
LGBT individuals are right that they should at the very least be WORRIED
Yeah because the republicans are going to use the next four years to rip apart LGBT rights? Please, they actually want to be re-elected.
evidently Trump doesn't need to give a shit about about LGBT rights, seeing as he won anyway
we don't know what they'll do yet . Don't call the idea out just yet
Fair point, I really do find it hard to believe they'd really want to do that considering the backlash and the fact it was HUGE in terms of social progress.
Yeah because the republicans are going to use the next four years to rip apart LGBT rights? Please, they actually want to be re-elected.
The republican party got elected on their current platform.
You know the anti-lgbt one. Clearly them being anti-lgbt does nothjng to negatively affect their electability. I'm still waiting for that substantial argument.

to a lot of people gay progress is a regression in progress
fucking ironic too
I thought he only had a 10% chance?

you're not getting probability and stats my friend
10% chance doesn't mean it wont happen....

People don't realize that 1 in a trillion chance is still a chance in the end
so how can people not realize that a 1 in 10 chance is the same way
Fair point, I really do find it hard to believe they'd really want to do that considering the backlash and the fact it was HUGE in terms of social progress.
If theres anything Ive learned from today its that the policies and actions of a party or its candidate literally dont matter
Yeah because the republicans are going to use the next four years to rip apart LGBT rights? Please, they actually want to be re-elected.
29% of self-identifying conservatives support gay marriage compared to 78% of liberals, according to Pew as of 2016.
71% of their voter base doesn't want it. They'll be re-elected. It's a critical part of the party platform. It's written into their 2016 party platform. Here's a direct quote from the 2016 platform:
"In Obergefell, five unelected lawyers robbed 330 million Americans of their legitimate constitutional authority to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman."
Pardon me for thinking that a fully GOP government isn't going to paint the White House rainbow and throw a drag ball on the steps of Congress.
What if
What if it was the other way around
What if Hillary was actually a Donald Trump plant in the DNC? :ohno:

Donald used his 8D Parcheesi to use reverse psychology on Clinton, to trick her into using him as a "Pied Piper" candidate. Little did Clinton know, her plan would backfire as Trump was already one step ahead of her! I sure am glad we have a president as clever and smart as Trump!

The news polls seem like bullshit in hindsight. They need to fix how they guage them because they were way off.
But wow holy shit Clinton didnt even have a defeat speech ready she was that cocky. Never underestimate a threat.
With Brexit and now this i'm sure historians are going to have to come up with a word for these total unexpected results and rejection of the media.

"Underestimating the opponent" and "a victory for liars and idiots" covers it pretty well. If not that, "this is why direct democracy is bad" also covers it (at least for Brexit).
I hereby plead my allegiance to Vladimir Putin.

I'm going to play the first Fallout for the first time in celebration. What's everyone else doing?
I'm optimistic that Trump will be caught doing some watergate style scandal within the next 2 years.

But then we get Pence as president, a man who believes the world is less than 6,000 years old and who believes that his personal god will save him and the members of his sect of Christianity before damning the rest of humanity to eternal suffering within his lifetime.
Doesn't that make you the slightest bit uncomfortable?
