congratz america
Fucking good morning. WOO HOO!!!!!!!!!
can we have like, just an election with bernie and trump instead that doesn't mean anything, but just so we can run the numbers please
i'm really fucking curious.
You're insane if you think he would have won third party
He probably wouldn't have even gotten as far as he did
I'm talking about running third party after he had built up all that zeal yet lost the Dem nominee. The old guy could've hammered Hillary over the DNC scandals instead of bowing out like a "pragmatist". This entire race was insane. Trump (Pence since Trump's his little puppet) vs Hillary is insane. Neither of those 2 are real choices. Somebody's got to break the conditioning. :(
You ever see that "Describe your student debt in less than 3 emoji's" tweet she put out? That was so awful. As old as Bernie is I agree I think he certainly could have been more "hip" and connected with the youth and gather an internet following much better than Hillary.
That's why the top players in the DNC need to go in the opposite direction in 2020. Tulsi Gabbard. An excellent, semi-experienced, young female veteran. Could easily be the face of the New Democratic Party after this colossal fuckup. There was no passion behind the Hillary campaign and it was motivated by DNC officials who were overconfident with Obama's success and wanted to repeat it with a woman, ignoring the reality of Clinton's many weaknesses as a candidate, her horrible polling history during elections, and so on.
Gabbard. 2020. Easiest shutout against Trump in a long time, and a reinvigoration of the passion behind Bernie's campaign. Trump has energetic and passionate supporters upset with the status quo. The Democrats need to replicate that instead of trying to be the party of the status quo.
I'm convinced that the system just isn't going to change, period. There are too many powerful people who rely on it, and too many ignorant people who won't give change a chance.
WHAT IF
guys what if
trump did this all as an elaborate plan to win, but is actually one of the most forward, left, progressive presidents ever.
i wish
The GOP would stonewall him. I'm hoping that just maybe his plans on healthcare will just rebrand universal healthcare or a public option - Romney supported it in his home state and Trump's spoken positively of it in the past - if he goes in that direction and breaks down state barriers on healthcare, it could be surprisingly progressive for a Republican. But unlikely.
Everything else, no chance. Pence is the new Cheney and the revocation of LGBT rights will be one of his priorities.
But who fucking knows at this point. Trump winning means the alt-right is just the right now. The GOP will fundamentally change direction with his win, and the religious right will start fading into the background as youth supporters accept LGBT rights. Conservatism in America is going to be very different in a decade.
So what was all that talk from Trump about the election being rigged?
Truly this is a sign that the system works perfectly and nothing needs to change.
First big trump then junior trump is gonna come in and follow in his lead
First Trump. 12 years later Trump Jr is elected. A few years later Jeb Trump runs and gets rekt by some megalomaniac crazy person.
[sp]or whatever his name is[/sp]
Will he stick to his first promise by cutting his hair though?
Will he stick to his first promise by cutting his hair though?
but that is the power

Gabbard or Booker is their only hope, most likely Gabbard for the factors you stated.
This is all on the DNC had they nominated someone that the voters could like. Democratic party my ass.
Bernie Sanders has his political revolution going, 4 years from now he may have the power to sway elections. He has the passion and the energized masses and what he has to do is get them to win local and state elections.

People said the same about every major political shift in history, though. If the DNC continues to try to hold the status quo, they'll die. Status quo cannot win elections anymore, evidently.
Most people didn't think an outright civil war would happen. Most people didn't expect a figure like FDR to come in and radically change government's role in the economy. We're at a moment in history similar to those, even though it might not feel like it right now - things can change much more rapidly than you'd think, and power structures in government and society are enormously temporary. I doubt Trump will be the one to shift them around, but I hope he motivates a progressive movement for social democracy from the DNC in the coming years.
I thought that the disorganization and disunity of the GOP meant it'd be replaced soon. Instead Trump is now the de facto head of the party and he pulled off what Bernie couldn't. The DNC needs to adapt in 2018 and 2020 if it wants any chance at surviving without similar unexpected shutdowns in the future. The complacency and overconfidence will kill the party without immediate and major reform deep within the party. We need new blood and new ideas - the party elite fucked it up and it's clear that Bernie's social democratic ideas are wildly popular. Adopt them. Promise too much. Promise radical change - even if you can't get it all done, the promise alone inspires and motivates voters - as seen with Trump.
Tulsi motherfucking Gabbard 2020. Progressives need to make sure not to get disillusioned and to analyze what made Trump succeed and replicate it in 4 years. Saying "voters are idiots I give up" is being an idiot - Trump appealed to the dissatisfaction with the status quo and it won everything for him. The DNC must do the same, quickly.
Just listened to the victory speech Donald Trump gave. I grinned ear to ear through the while thing. This is great.
The plan is working. We're going to impeach trump immediately, right?....RIGHT?

Im certain we will unite against Trumpster. At least I will be working against him while I still can :)

Well calling everyone who doesnt share the same exact views as a "shitlord" isnt a profitable method to proceed with. Build bridges. Not burn them.

How come nobody from the Trump camp talks about this? Anybody? Whenever I bring this up on this forum, in person, on Facebook etc. I can get no replies or information on why this is okay.

You do not want Pence as president.
The only thing worse than electing Trump is impeaching him. Genuinely. He's a nutso wildcard, but he's an independent enough figure to not obey everything the GOP wants him to. We saw that throughout his campaign.
You do not want to impeach Trump. That would be even worse than coasting through these four years and letting him run for re-election. Pence is despicable.

Most just say "he can't actually do that," ignoring that he's pledged to nominate a SC justice who will overturn Obergefell and that Pence will act as the new Cheney in defining Trump's political stances.
Hopeful that Trump hangs on to his conscience and tells the GOP and Pence to fuck off. He's never personally been outspoken against LGBT rights, and actually used to be supportive, but with the GOP in full control with the ability to stack the Supreme Court... might not matter at all. It's concerning and the fact that people take those literally brand-new rights for granted is naive as all hell.
This is like the Waldo episode from Black Mirror.

probably because their reason it's okay is 'lgbt rights aren't important to me' and they'd rather not say that

ahahaha see, you guys are overreacting. they are not going to be sending people to death camps, they are just going to make LGBT people be lesser citizens.
seriously fuck everyone who said people are overreacting when they are legitimately scared for their rights.
