So what happens if Trump gets found guilty in the fraud trial in a few weeks?
Every time someone explains why they support republican they say "Donald trump is a brave man" or "because hilary is a criminal/racist/etc" or say something about socialism being bad
they don't actually explain anything. they just say that its bad. They don't even provide a point that I can agree with or an argument, they just expect it to be universally agree'd that "This country is going to hell because of socialist obama" with a hatred in their voice. They just listen to alt-right propaganda and completely pretend everyone who disagrees with them doesn't exist.
and then there are people on this forum who actually do provide arguments against specific topics like homosexuality, transexuality, abortion, or for torture, authoritarianism, etc but they end up making themselves sound very extreme. I mean if you are against homosexuality I can respect that, but provide real reasons to it, don't just parrot "its bad" (then again how can you provide an actual anti-gay argument that ISN'T hateful as fuck)
Several people I've specifically asked in person who support Trump or his ideas has replied "Yes" to the question "Would you prefer to benefit the US to the detriment of every other country?" Yet another supporter seemed surprised when I said that Trump wants our allies to pay us like a protection racket. Others have expressed that they like isolationism but think Trump is an idiot/too inflammatory. I'm willing to bet that Bernie would have won them all over.
TBH I'm actually surprised at how reasonable a lot of the conservatives around here were about their choice for either Trump, a third party candidate, or no vote. It's the same issue as many on the Democrat side - they hate their representative in the election.
So what happens if Trump gets found guilty in the fraud trial in a few weeks?
I'd say they'd impeach him but that would make Mike Pence president, which I don't even think Republicans want to happen.
would mike pence then choose another vp?
Man maybe if you don't want your children to worry about being "illegal" then you shouldn't have fucked them over by illegally crossing the border.
The issue is that he wants to deport every single illegal immigrant right the now, not that he wants illegal immigrants gone.
If you notice, "illegal" is quoted on the sign, and the fine print specifies that the proper term is undocumented immigrant. I've said before on this forum that the term "illegal" is a stigmatized word which is intentionally used to dehumanize people.
I believe this protester is trying to convey how frustrating it must be for people growing up in the US who, through no fault of their own, lack citizenship here, but are being constantly devalued as persons because their parents broke the law. Among many people in this country there's a total lack of sympathy- it doesn't matter if this is the only home you've ever known, if you were brought here as a toddler and spent the early years of your life thinking you were an American citizen. It doesn't matter how much you achieve, what you believe, or whether your conduct is upstanding. Your parents broke the law, so you're an "illegal," just like the drug dealers and the welfare fraudsters. You're out to steal jobs and flood American towns with Mexican culture. Even if you've never done anything wrong by your own volition, you're a criminal person at the conceptual level, and the only thing people talk about is whether or not you're going to be deported back to a country you didn't grow up in.
And I don't think it's right to take the whole "blame the parents for their suffering" angle. While it's true that entering the country illegally caused their children to be undocumented, it's our policies and prejudices which make undocumented status among children to be suffering by default. Punish the parents, of course, put them in prison for violating the laws. But to punish the children by uprooting them and sending them abroad- it's a decision on our part to apply the law strictly and harshly to the fullest extent available, to choose to be completely insensitive.
Blaming the parents for the manner in which we apply the laws against minors seems like a shortcut to avoid the moral burden of our judgement.
would mike pence then choose another vp?
Yes, I believe so. I don't think the Speak of the House automatically becomes VP, for example.

I have seen many friends and family parrot the retort "we're all illegals except Native Americans" to the mentality mentioned here.

Have you told then to pack their bags for Europe, Asia or Africa then, and "go back to their own country?"

In your attempt to rush to a zinger, you have misunderstood me. They are against those who cry foul against "illegals."

Oh I wasn't attacking you, but yes I did misunderstand what you meant. Sorry. I do believe that someone CAN use those words as an argument supporting kicking out illegals.
Or perhaps I'm just too tired.
EDIT: yes, I missed the word "mentality". Sorry man.

For fuck's sake.
I have relatives in America and am pretty scared that they are gonna be attacked due to being muslims. I cannot call them either cause I am a poor fuck.
Thanks, Trump.
Boy, and you wonder why Democrats lost!
because racist white people can't take being criticised?
because racist white people can't take being criticised?
So every voter who voted for Trump is not only Racist, but also white?
Did I miss something?

can we just have a period of emotional recovery to be a tad bit intellectually dishonest about those who voted a bigot into office
Not everyone who voted for Trump is a bigot (nor were they all white, though they were overwhelmingly so), but they did vote for a man with bigoted views and policies.

You're right, some of them are just incredibly stupid.
Really disappointed with where I live and seeing these destructive protests. I seriously fear for my fucking life. These people are so violent for the wrong reasons, it's crazy.
Seems real ironic to me that Hillary supporters thought the country was going to go to hell just because Trump won, as where it seems to be going to hell right now because the Hillary supporters can't handle losing.
Considering Trump has shown he's going to fuck up LGBT rights, the handling of climate change and several other harmful things, it's not really surprising they're pissed off. It's not that they lost, it's what Trump's plans are.
Guessing their looks and skin color based on Turkish average, without ornaments signalling their religion Id say its not very probable theyll be attacked.
If they dont have "friends" that know they are muslims and would attack them at least. But even if Trump supporters are terrible, I doubt this possibility.

I love how Tom Scott put it:
Not everyone who voted Trump is a bigot, but all the bigots voted for Trump.
Yeah, I agree that there is a high possibility that no harm will come to them, it's the fact that there is a possibility of it happening that's scary, What the Fuck America?
I wonder if all the trump supporters will explode when he fails to MAGA because either:
a: he doesn't follow through on his ridiculous proposals
b: he does and they all realise climate change is real as Floridians drown
c: they get yoked even harder by the big throbbing cock of deregulated big business
hmm

Why did Trump pick a guy who bankrupted Kansas as secretary of agriculture?
Why did he suggest Ben "pyramids were actually grain silos" Carson as secretary of education?
Why did he choose a climate change denier as secretary of energy?
So he was just pretending to be retarded all along when he actually was stupid enough to make the worst possible choices when it came to the majority of his cabinet?

I dont like the majority of Trump supporters any more than you do man but you know as well as I do this isnt true - he did corner the vote in terms of blue collar american workers but he also cornered the vote of the disaffected who felt there was no upward mobility for them, but stagnation and downward mobility, he cornered the vote of people who were sick of the system and wanted something to change, forgetting that change happens incrementally and not all at once, he cornered the vote also of people who were so angry with everything they forced a rage quit on the system, but its disingenuous to say that all his voters are poorly educated rednecks. It's easy to fall into stereotypes and it doesn't help one's argument.

But with all of the above, the people will just blame Obama for their issues, not Trump.

Not really. If you come here through illegal means, then why should you be allowed to stay?
Immigration should be much easier but living in the US isn't a right and we have valid channels for entry that should be taken.

Anybody who voted for Donald 'let's build a 25 billion dollar wall, kick out the muslims, turn back into a mercantilist society, encroach on human rights, and claim that global warming was invented by the chinese' Trump is a fucking retard, there is absolutely no denying this.
Either that or they didn't know about his policies when they voted for him, which also makes them idiots.
