To be honest, the extremism in the MLK days was mostly justified, and a lot of it was kind of true.
BLM is founded on cynical ideals and paranoia, rather than genuine issues like racial segregation. They were apparently founded based on the Trayvon Martin case, which didn't actually have any proof that it was racially motivated aside from speculation.
I don't see how you can look at half the videos tied to BLM and say it's "paranoia and cynicism."
There's an issue with a lack of police accountability in this country. That is a genuine issue. You cannot deny that - police are able to shoot and choke unarmed, non-threatening people without even getting indicted. That's what BLM protests - how is that not a "genuine issue?"

That's absolutely a problem, if I tried to argue it wasn't, I'd probably end up just getting banned. But the way they word it on their own website makes it seem far different than what it actually is
When we say Black Lives Matter, we are broadening the conversation around state violence to include all of the ways in which Black people are intentionally left powerless at the hands of the state. We are talking about the ways in which Black lives are deprived of our basic human rights and dignity.
"How Black poverty and genocide is state violence."
How 500,000 Black people in the US are undocumented immigrants and relegated to the shadows.
they website makes it sound like they think it's only an issue black people face, and all they say is cynical shit on it
I'm not saying that BLM's topics are 100% wrong but being founded because of a case that happened that was "MAYBE RACIST" isn't a good sign
They asked him if he believed in BLM, there's nothing to support they were apart of the organisation
still sucks tho
Generally someone asking that is part of the movement.
They are probably just thugs who wanted to rob someone, who also support BLM and didn't want to mug someone who holds the same beliefs. Him refusing to outright support BLM was most likely an excuse or justification for mugging him rather than the reason.
In using BLM as a cover, they get people outraged about the group rather than the people that committed the act.
people will pick and choose what they want to see in a movement
blm could have a peaceful protest about a clear case of police brutality with video evidence straight up showing a cop killing an unarmed surrendered man and most of fp will still try to support the cop
Fortunately, that scenario only exists in your head.
No True Scotsman would ever do such a terrible thing.
The crazy (or sad) part is that they probably thought they were doing good work for the movement by showing those racists who's really boss.
fighting racism by beating people up and stealing their wallets.
For someone who isn't in the US, What is this black matters lives thing?
fucking stupid people. don't they realise that he's going to assume that either answer could be risky for him? stupid fucking people
I think if Martin Luther King were alive today and saw the things "BLM" did most of the time the man would probably clutch his chest as his body shakes around then die horribly
that's not saying these teens are associated with BLM, http://blacklivesmatter.com/about/ but just look at this
What is this even talking about:
What Does #BlackLivesMatter Mean: How Black girls are used as negotiating chips during times of conflict and war.

Wow
I like how they act like they support the movement and then do the exact thing people stereotype blacks for.
BlackLivesMatter seems to have gone the same way as Occupy.
Started out as a serious movement with knowledgeable people leading the pack. Then it got taken over by funducation students with neon disco hair, free spirit artistes and other extreme left freaks who believe that the louder you scream, the more convincing your arguments get.
Having no organization means you will end up represented by the people who yell the loudest, and these people are rarely if ever a good representation.

This. I believe the first thing a movement should do nowadays is establish clear goals and create an official membership system.
It's a movement, so they are as much "BLM" as anybody else that calls support for it.
The crucial part is whether the mainstream of the movement will glorify or reprimand this event.
Any open movement like this is going to have a minority of crazies, and false-flaggers, so the movement can be judged only generally by what ideas and opinions the majority supports and circulates.
For someone who isn't in the US, What is this black matters lives thing?
First, the media blows up any case of police brutality involving a black person, or really any case of a black person dying in an encounter with the police regardless of their treatment.
Idiots who take the media narrative at face value then react violently, and in doing so drown out whatever rational voices may or may not be present on either side.
Moments like this make me wants to find a BLM member and punch his stupid fucking face in.
It makes me realize how everything sucks and I can't do or say anything because I'm white.
Fuck this gay ass country for letting this shit pass.
You know Ive seen some bad posts on fp but this is one of the worst
"I cant do or say anything because I'm white"
Seriously? How sheltered are people that they think that BLM's existence is a direct attack on their livelihood
