So some guy on my Facebook made a post about this and claimed that this duck dynasty guy did not represent the South at all, and so I disagreed and posted Southern state poll results pertaining to gay marriage support, showing that the states constituting the South had the lowest support in the nation. Naturally removed me, because a good response to someone disagreeing with you is to just ignore that disagreement, not attempt to learn anything.

You have the right to say what you want, but others have the right to call you an ass. Being fired for being a bigoted asshole isn't persecution, it's a business decision. Especially since "I think black people were better off under Jim Crow" isn't something you're born with or a culture, it's just being a dumb ass.

Publishers/production companies are hardly the sympathetic type of individuals. They would rather keep their views instead of having their show decline in popularity. Well he said homosexuality was a sin, never that he hated or had any ill will towards gay people, so they technically fired him for a commonly held religious belief which will catch A&E more flak anyway. Afterwords he put out a release through A&E saying he doesn't hate people for their lifestyles because he believes everyone is a child of God or something to that effect. Strong christians are going to turn this into a religious thing.

He doesn't preach hatred of gays, he just states what the bible says, then says that he still loves them just as he does everyone else because we are all god's children and should love each other. So it looks like it wasn't acceptable to fire him for his personal beliefs, that were asked about specifically, and never preached hatred, but disagreement.
