You are purposely acting ignorant to attack Obama. You know that he did not support the NDAA, and you know his reasons for signing it. The Republicans go away with the perfect crime with that bill. They forced him to sign it and they gave themselves a platform from which to attack Obama.
Where in my post did it say I was attacking Obama? What I was attacking was the lie that NDAA does not affect American citizens.
I like Ron Paul because it seems the internet does too.
I also dislike Rick Santorum because it seems internet does too.
I like Ron Paul because it seems the internet does too.

The rest of the world dislikes Rick Santorum.
I think Sick Rantorum fits him better
mr. "fuck the federal government" ron paul tried to pass federal legislation banning abortion. honesty and integrity indeed.
Lol I love how all the hate against ron paul pretty much exclusively amounts to the fact that he doesn't believe in federal regulation of social issues, and as such it means he's AGAINST GAYS AND WOMEN WITH BABIES
Let's completely forget his stand on real fucking issues that are actually a REAL problem because "OH HEY HE DOESN'T LIKE ABORTION BECAUSE HE SAID HE WONT PASS A LAW FORCING ITS APPROVAL"
You people have really back-assword priorities when you choose to support/elect candidates based on relatively minor social issues that will never change anyways for the next 15-20 years as long as the current baby boomer generation is still alive. That's the real issue with american politics, much of the "popular opinion" of candidates keeps getting focus on sensationalist shit that has no honest place in politics, that's more about what kind of family man a candidate is vs what he'll actually do, that's more about social issues over political economic ones, etc. You're no better than fundie conservatives because you're falling prey to the same propaganda bullshit that the repubican party RELIES on to get support.
Now that said, I should say Ron Paul is kind of crazy for wanting to never have made the Interstate Highway System. I don't like his economic ideas. I do think the federal government needs it's spending programs trimmed a lot, but I think certain areas of the government should always have ample money flowing into such as medical programs, stuff like infrastructure (highways, etc) and other public services. Ron Paul is in favor of completely getting rid of this though, and he puts way too much trust into the corporate/private sphere, which has proven time and time again in this generation that it is more corrupt and un-trustworthy than the government, and has PROVEN that when you give ultimate economic power and authority to the corporations it leads to catastrophic effects. Such as the housing market fail, the great depression, AND the terrible work conditions of the industrial revolution.
You're right, lets focus on his economic ideas
oh right, I can pass it quickly because Atlas Shrugged isnt' a good basis for government.

Yeah it's very easy to dismiss those problems when you're a straight white male.
I remember seeing a good analogy about this current election (one I've seen a few people around here revise a bit for simplicity.)
U.S. in its current state is like a house with the windows busted out. Obama and the democratic party would spend a lot to have the windows replaced but they would be high-quality durable windows that should not break again. The GOP would just strip doors out and use those to board up the windows for as long as possible. And Ron Paul would burn the house down and go live in the woods.
[editline]13th March 2012[/editline]
And yeah, as a fact, the Virgin Island don't get to vote for president, which makes it strange that they even get a caucus. To quickly paraphrase from C.G.P. Grey, the U.S. territories are the only location in the Universe where U.S. citizens can not vote for President. Even astronauts can vote from space.
You're right, lets focus on his economic ideas

Is he any worse than what the other GOP people running are going to do? Mitt Romney can't stop acting like Goldman Sachs incarnate and seems intent on screwing over the lower classes at any opportunity. The other two are so far out of their rockers I don't even think I have to go over them. Their policies even worse than Romney's. That's why they attack him on non-economic issues like religion and "family values."
Not funny man, my uncle has Narcocolepsy.
He must be pretty tired of it
He must be pretty tired of it
You missed my pun. I thought it was pretty clever, too.
You missed my pun. I thought it was pretty clever, too.
so you're saying that someone who can't see how letting states decide basic rights would go horribly wrong should be president
nice

Yeah, but you're implying I'm choosing one over another. I'm saying they're all the same.

And I say he's the lesser of 4 evils.
And I say he's the lesser of 4 evils.
Hardly. He's just as equal. he may have a few 'good' policies, but the bad outweigh them to an extreme.
Hardly. He's just as equal. he may have a few 'good' policies, but the bad outweigh them to an extreme.
His more extreme views would be blocked in Congress, unlike the other 3 who would have more receptive Republican legislators to back them.
His more extreme views would be blocked in Congress, unlike the other 3 who would have more receptive Republican legislators to back them.
That's an incredibly stupid reason to support him. By that yarn, Santorum is actually a good candidate for president since his extreme policies would just be blocked anyway.
Didn't he say not to use the word socialist?
but obama essentially is a socialist, it's very blatant and he is not attempting to hide it at all.
this isn't an attempt to defame socialism, i am merely pointing out the elephant in the room.

obama pretty much wanted the provisions that would give him more power. you can read more about the NDAA here if you dont know much: http://big.assets.huffingtonpost.com/NDAAFactSheetFINAL.pdf

i knew you would dodge my question, i was expecting a real answer since i asked first.
all the massive increases in spending for medicare and medicaid, and the banker bailouts dont ring a bell? how about how he subsidized solyndra? how about the massive amount of new regulations he has introduced? how about obama's civillian national security force (1 million strong)? theres many other points and if you havent paid attention to his speeches then you can take the time to do so as it will do you good.

I'm gay actually but nice try
Sorry but when it comes to politics I frankly don't rate gay marriage and abortion anything more than minor issues that I am in favor for, and if you base your entirely political ideaoligy on such minor bullshit then you're part of the political problem in America
Especially since lets not kid ourselves - you don't change culture because it becomes law. Fact of the matter is it is in America's culture to be against federal law for gay marriage and for abortion and as long as the majority are against that there is nothing you can do. Wish for a better future? It'll happen naturally when the old-style conservatives from the baby boomer generation and older all die off and the current generation "grows up".

Last I checked I'm still alive and the country is still doing fine socially for the most part

I could tell you all the reasons why this country is NOT doing well socially! I could also tell you that one example is not good enough to claim a minority is doing fine. If I can ignore all issues about gays because you say you're doing fine, I could say that we don't have to worry about Black people because Obama is doing fine!
But instead I'll notify the thread that Ron Paul is done with his mashed potatoes, & wants more yams!
[editline]13th March 2012[/editline]
Ron Paul does not believe parrots exist!
Read the title as "Ron Paul WINS a Cactus"
