Hacking as a form of war? It kinda is.
Electronic warfare on the Internet has existed for a long time. I'm sure you've heard about about some governments using botnets to attack a rival country's infrastructure in an attempt to damage their economy.
However, Lulzsec has no known political agenda, no affiliation with any government institution nor profit interests.
Guess that means he's innocent :downs:
Especially since lulzsecruity could just have dropped them.
"What? Billy got arrested...FFFFUUUUU! Okay we'll act like no one was caught!"

They're the legal definition of cyber terrorism :v:
I am a bad person, cause i was reading through the twitter, saw this "@LulzSec The Lulz Boat
Our apologies to slow-moving old people. We decided to start stealing that database by date of birth, then gave up when we reached 1943. D:
18 hours ago via web" and utterly laughed my ass off...
They do have a point actually; exposing the miserable security of a big company that millions of people entrust with both their money and personal info with. If Lulzsec can hack them, so can other people. It's better Lulzsec than some serious criminal organization that wants to use the stolen info maliciously. Besides, gamers aren't suffering now when the PSN is back up. But yeah, they're still asses.
I get it, they're grey hats or whatever the terminology is now.
looking at your name and avatar, I don't trust you, or expect much either.
Because my name and avatar are completely relevant to the issue at hand.
I get it, they're grey hats or whatever the terminology is now.
Actually by releasing the info to the public, allowing anyone to do malicious stuff with the info, they are black hats.
White hats are the ones that hack and then tell the company how they hacked so the company can fix it.

Maybe Sony should make a point by sending a bunch of thugs over to kick their heads in.
And yet, they've managed to hack several large companies
I think the childish nature of the name and everything else is just a front really
they said they got into sony using a simple sql injection so that says enough
sony is easy, that doesn't mean they're good

Or they can take the damn hint and improve their security.
Look, the hackers are still scumbags, but they're clearly announcing what they're doing which might help Sony prevent future intrusions by some organization with far worse ambitions.

leaking details isnt helping
They say they got the wrong guy so they release him, but he COULD be the right guy.

Kind of hard to work on improving your security when they won't stop.
It's like bitching at a bank to build a better safe when people are robbing them twice a day.
Though I'm not a PSN user, I'm glad they got their shit straight.
Hope nothing happens to the Xbox :ohdear:
was apprehended and taken into custody by the FBI after an apparent counter hack

Then the FBI comes in and kicks down their doors.
I feel all giddy inside.
leaking details isnt helping
"lessons not learned in blood are soon forgotten."
Imagine how it must suck to be the wrong guy who (may have) been arrested. The cops busting down your door with guns drawn, screaming some gibberish like you're being arrested over "Lulzsec".
"Lulzsec? Is that a prescription drug?! I swear I never sold any Lulzsec to anyone, officer!"
obligatory death penalty.
About time!
Serves them right for poking around this much.
According to LulzSecs twitter, he isnt one of them
I think the police failed, as fucking usual

Do you really expect them to say "oh yeah they got us"?

Again
"Shit, they're onto us! Act like nothing's happening!"
The logs were not from a core chatting channel but instead from a channel the group uses for gathering "potential backup/subcrew research and development battle fleet members, i.e. we were using that channel only to recruit talent for side-operations," according to a LulzSec statement. The person allegedly arrested was not a part of the group, the statement said. "Our core chatting channel remains unaffected," the group wrote. "Our core LulzSec team is at full strength. The Lulz Boat sails stronger than ever, nice try though."
and yet i still have no reason to actually believe the FBI found the right person
Well looks like two people's lives are ruined, the person who was arrested and the person who leaked the logs.
It seems my decoy did the job.
Um, wait. YEAH, in hide and seek. With kids. At a playground.
I'm 8 and totally innocent.
LulzSec needs to die. They are probably all commies. I hate commies.
[editline]9th June 2011[/editline]
dumbs are from commies like doriol
I don't know what I'm more annoyed at...Sony being incompetent and not upgrading all of the security for all of their services, or the fact that something exists called "Lulzsec." Seriously, how do you call something you're a part of "Lulzsec" without punching yourself in the face?
