Im not a fan of Churchill but im also not going to deny that he must have done something right to get in twice. If people actually discussed it in a civilised manner instead of "HES FAT AND SHIT" then it wouldn't cause such a shit storm.
I feel like his face needs to be a bit more faded in the final design.
theyre replacing elizabeth fry with him?
fuck that

It amazes me that people don't want to acknowledge a man who led Britain though some of the darkest times in the 20th century
It amazes me that people don't want to acknowledge a man who led Britain though some of the darkest times in the 20th century
hes got plenty of fucking acknowledgement, an entire party extols his virtues
It would be much more amusing to see them put Thatcher on it.
Imagining northern England would be burning their money in pure rage.
100% behind this!
Putting thatcher on it would be much funnier.
I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually do.
Should have a note dedicated to Alister Darlings eyebrows. Those things were just fantastic.

The germans never invaded Britain.

It'd be kind of like the 50 Dollar bill and how some southerners use Grant's face as a dartboard.
Except they've got a little more reason to hate him.

I wonder how many of the people rating this winner are actually British?
Churchill was a bad man.

Would you have preferred Neville Chamberlain lead the war effort?

It actually wasn't. Germany had no interest in doing harm to England. Hitler saw the British Isles as racially pure but not really all that aryan, which is why he was just like "meh" and didn't see the need to take them over. Like America, he had a relatively friendly relationship through the 1930s until shit really went down. I mean, if you're talking like invasion, he had no will to do so. If you're talking trade interests, it was quite the opposite. The only real threat that he posed was the ideological soundness, which if my memory serves, the British monarch at the time wasn't concerned with either. Europe was under fascist control, sure, but if expansion and political domination were a problem in the minds of the British people, they easily could have looked at their own empire as well.
In the distant future? Possibly problematic as lebensraum would become increasingly less as the German people grew, but immediately, Britain brought itself into the war.

Yeah, Hitler wanted an alliance with Britain early on but it fell through.
Apparently he also lived in Blackpool for a few months during his artist years, he quite liked the place. He even told the Luftwaffe not to bomb it.

They never landed boots on Britain proper, which is what constitutes invasion.
I guess they invaded the UK with the channel islands, though.

Only the occupation of the Channel Islands counts. Aerial attacks and plans that never got put into action do not count as invasions.
You guys should put Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry on your money.
