Teacher dies of asbestos poisoning after pinning students work to contaminated walls

oh shit. I was drilling a asbestos roofing to reinforce. You wouldn't believe how many houses in the countrysides here have asbestos roofs, that are on the brink of collapsing.
A few years back, I was in a little outbuilding of our school, which was a tiny weights room. Used to go there a lot, but on this particular day some guy in the year above me punched a hole in the ceiling, causing all these fibers to burst out and fill the room
The teacher returned and told everyone to get out, the next day the gym was shut for good
So all that time I've potentially been breathing in asbestos fibers
you gun die
Is asbestos still legal in the UK or something? Or are schools just too cheap to have it removed?
I remember some years ago, the drama studio at my school burned down over the weekend. I don't know if it would have been different if there was no asbestos, but we got the whole week off because of it. So that's the kind of motivation that is required to have it removed.

Asbestos is actually meant to make buildings fire-resistant. The only actual bad thing about asbestos is that its horrible for your lungs in the long term. That's probably why most buildings won't remove it until its absolutely necessary, like for demolition/renovation.
