The only difference is that health care is useful.
guns are pretty useful too
owning a firearm for self-defense and knowing how to use it could be considered a part of healthcare anyway
Sure but compared to health care not everyone needs a gun. Im not a ban all guns kind of person but I know they arnt that useful unless you are a hunter.
I'd vote for it!
hey guys
hey guys
lets propose a bill requiring every driver to have car insurance for their car
isn't that outrageous?
Giving raging alcoholics guns is a horrible idea. Sure you might say that if they were going to kill someone they would get a gun but an alcoholics is only like this for a certain point of time. same with crack heads. If there wasnt a gun next to my crack addicted uncle while he was tweaking out then I would have 2 more uncles right now.
Because owning a gun and having health insurance are of equal importance.
hurr fucking durr
they could put me in jail for not having a gun fuck that i'm not buying one
don't even live in SD but whatever
This is better than forced health care. I love the idea of pacifists buying guns.

Sure if your end goal is to cause more deaths then stop them.
so if owning a gun became required, what sort of guns would hipsters own?
I love the idea of pacifists buying guns.
well this pacifist could beat you in a fist fight
granted i would punch you in the nuts and run laughing like a little girl

Ironically the original intent of giving people the right to bear arms was so that they could overthrow the government if it became corrupt, self defense is merely how Americans made use of this right, as it's a more realistic scenario.
A similar law currently exists in Kennesaw, Georgia.
[Sec 34-21]
(a) In order to provide for the emergency management of the city, and further in order to provide for and protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants, every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm, together with ammunition therefore.
(b) Exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who suffer a physical or mental disability which would prohibit them from using such a firearm. Further exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who are paupers or who conscientiously oppose maintaining firearms as a result of beliefs or religious doctrine, or persons convicted of a felony.
The law is actually unenforced. But when it was passed the crime rates dropped a little. And yes plenty of people did buy a gun.
It was more of a symbolic gesture, and it is probably unconstitutional but no one to my knowledge has challenged it yet (because I figure no one has ever been fined pursuant to said law).
Actually the ACLU sued the city and the courts found the law constitutional under the second amendment's secondary purpose of allowing the state to call up a militia composed of the people
Ironically the original intent of giving people the right to bear arms was so that they could overthrow the government if it became corrupt, self defense is merely how Americans made use of this right, as it's a more realistic scenario.
that's still one of it's main purposes, nobody talks about it because it's too taboo. Also, saying that overthrowing a government is an unrealistic scenerio is a little weird considering that there's like ten government overthrowing revolutions happening right now and also because America was pretty much founded on "Yeah, fuck the government! King George can suck my dick!! Freeeeedoooomm!!!" and the founding fathers were known for saying such inflammatory things as:
"God forbid we should ever be twenty years without such a rebellion.
The people cannot be all, and always, well informed. The part which is
wrong will be discontented, in proportion to the importance of the facts
they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions,
it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty. ...
And what country can preserve its liberties, if its rulers are not
warned from time to time, that this people preserve the spirit of
resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as
to the facts, pardon and pacify them. What signify a few lives lost
in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from
time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants.
It is its natural manure."
no one in particular may be forcing you to take a poorly-paying job, but the looming threat of homelessness and lack of health insurance sure can.
Who the fuck says you must own a home, rent a apartment
Also how is not paying some jew in a high-raise office his yearly bonus bad for a insurance plan that fucks me in the ass a bad thing?
nope that was outsourcing. Maybe if there were stronger tariffs we wouldn't have that problem
Outsourcing didn't kill the gas station attendant, now did it?
some jew in a high-raise office
You're right man it's all a zionist plot, but I don't think most jews would work in a high-rise office after the whole planning 9/11 thing.

I get bored debating against one side all the time. So I switch to the other. :P
I jest, I don't actually know why.
also why is it whenever I agree with someone in one of these argument threads that person almost always ends up saying something blatantly racist?
You must have hick beliefs.
You must have hick beliefs.
