the republican party is not stupid in the slightest, the idiosyncrasies of the american political climate have made them some of the most brilliant cultural engineers in the world. "evil" is the word you're looking for

Why? (Hint: his views being different to yours is not the correct answer)
Let me let the man speak for himself:
there should be no mosque near Ground Zero so long as there are no churches are synagogues in Saudi Arabia. The time for double standards that Islamists to behave aggressively toward us while they demand our weakness and submission our over.

If the Soviet empire still existed, I’d be terrified. The fact is, we can afford a fairly ignorant presidency now.

The idea that a congressman would be tainted by accepting money from private industry or private sources is essentially a socialist argument.

The problem isn’t too little money in political campaigns, but not enough.

I read Men Who Hate Women and the Women Who Love Them and I found frightening pieces that related to…my own life.

We should replace bilingual education with immersion in English so people learn the common language of the country and they learn the language of prosperity, not the language of living in a ghetto.
I'm sorry, but I do not want a man like that in office.
Newt just drop out of the race too, you cheated on your two wives when they were terminally ill
Personal Issues =/= Presidential Electibility [editline]22nd January 2012[/editline] Also, Newt is ahead by 70k votes with 92% of the polls in, he won.
Santorum will move on to Florida Santorum will move on to Florida Showdown for S.C. primary
Good job
Personal Issues =/= Presidential Electibility
being newt grinch = unelectable or so I hope holy fuck the republican party is pathetic
Personal Issues =/= Presidential Electibility [editline]22nd January 2012[/editline] Also, Newt is ahead by 70k votes with 92% of the polls in, he won.
Personal issues could signal a candidate's standing on public issues. It's not like they don't matter.
Personal Issues =/= Presidential Electibility [editline]22nd January 2012[/editline] Also, Newt is ahead by 70k votes with 92% of the polls in, he won.
Personal issues, like tinhead said, give an important reflection of a candidate's standing on public issues. It also gives a guide to what sort of leader a person is. If someone has a hard time committing to marriage or understanding another perspective (such as that asking for a divorce during stressful cancer treatment is not a good idea), how does that reflect on commitment to public office? It reflects a lot.
There is so much deadlock and turnabout in this that a brokered convention is within a (tiny) realm of possibility. That would be interesting.
The fact that Gingrich won in South Carolina just shows how absolutely stupid South Carolina is.
^ Anyway looks like Obama will be a 2 term president.
^ Anyway looks like Obama will be a 2 term president.
"The race for 2nd place"
Let me let the man speak for himself: I'm sorry, but I do not want a man like that in office.
0 marks you didn't read the question
^ Anyway looks like Obama will be a 2 term president.
Yes, our whole state is stupid because one party full of idiots elected an idiot. Brilliant.
Ron Paul 2012, otherwise Obama 2012.
WOW. Too bad I couldn't vote. I was only a few days off from the registration deadline. Oh, well, at least I got to go see Colbert talk.
this takes things to a new low for republicans
No I'm saying if something incredibly stupid or impossible happened like Obama dying or stepping down happened I'd vote Republican. In other words I'm not voting Republican.
Even Biden would be better than the clowns the GOP is putting up.
Yes, our whole state is stupid because one party full of idiots elected an idiot. Brilliant.
Yes exactly. Also first to secede. Good job.
Even Biden would be better than the clowns the GOP is putting up.
I'd sooner have Gingritch in office or see Obama win a second term than see Biden in control of the United States.
Whose the best choice for GOP? Ron Paul?
Hey how many votes did Herman Cain get? Or are they covering up Colbert's handiwork.
0 marks you didn't read the question
Okay let me spell it out for you: All of his views aside, Gingrich has a hard time putting himself into other peoples' shoes. I have no problem with Republican policies, especially because I'm a pretty moderate Democrat. I have a problem with someone who believes ignorance is excusable in non-crisis scenarios. I have a problem with someone who throws around "socialism" like it's calling something a faggot. I have a problem with misogyny. And I don't have the time to deal with a President who can't see several sides to a problem, synthesize the issue, and make a clear cut choice. Obama can do that. I don't think Newt can.
Hey how many votes did Herman Cain get? Or are they covering up Colbert's handiwork.
1%ish of the vote so far http://elections.nytimes.com/2012/primaries/states/south-carolina
I'm just going to say I voted for neither of them today.
Don't worry, it's just one state. Florida is the big one - it's a "winner take all" state, its delegates aren't divided depending on how big a percentage gets of the votes. If Paul can win it, it's a big step up.
LOL hey remember the last primary thread when you literally said that Ron Paul would win 1st place in SC Ron Paul Supporters-always moving the goal posts
I'd sooner have Gingritch in office or see Obama win a second term than see Biden in control of the United States.
While this is mentioned, why did Obama pick Biden to be his vp?
While this is mentioned, why did Obama pick Biden to be his vp?
To get the middle class pasty white male vote probably.
LOL hey remember the last primary thread when you literally said that Ron Paul would win 1st place in SC Ron Paul Supporters-always moving the goal posts
Do you have to try and pick a fight with Ron Paul supporters in every thread on the subject? I cannot believe this asshole is getting so close to office.
While this is mentioned, why did Obama pick Biden to be his vp?
Because Biden was acting like a spoiled child after he lost the nomination to Obama.
The idea that a congressman would be tainted by accepting money from private industry or private sources is essentially a socialist argument.

The problem isn’t too little money in political campaigns, but not enough.
don't mind me. just having a seizure.
don't mind me. just having a seizure.
THOSE QUOTES AUUUUUUUUUUUUUGHHHHHH
To think that part of his surge was due to him flipping out at the media for asking him about his past marriage... To me personal issues like that are very important when judging a leader. I mean, He cheated on 2 wives. Also... even worse, that whole Ethics Violation while he was speaker. That's not even personal life. Also, suggesting Perry and Santorum to drop out before SC was really arrogant. He lost by quite a bit in Iowa and New Hampshire. As an independent voter, I went with Romney. Lesser of all the evils in my opinion (I almost went with Ron Paul also) since I got to vote in the NH primary
