The image on the right seems very outdated. Off the top of my head I can already name stuff like The Cave, Yooka Laylee, Minecraft Story Mode, etc. from the publishers/developers on the left.

It's a weird case. Knowing that it was a real pain to work with Wii U (not helped by being on a whole different technical standard in numerous ways from every system it was surrounded by on both generations), I can see why most third-party devs dropped off. But now the Switch is on a more standard proprietary setup like the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, so it really comes down to how good the internally-contained hardware is and how much third-parties are willing to put up with Nintendo of Japan's stubborn nature.
Honestly don't get what excites people about Skyrim being re-released again 5 years later, even if it's on a handheld.
Surely by now everyone and their dogs must've played through it at least twice?

It's the broad appeal. I look at Youtube comments and I see countless people massively enthusiastic about being able to play Skyrim on a Nintendo system, much less on the go. There's just something about Bethesda games where people will bitch from here up to the moon about their diminishing quality with each new game and they're still a massive success that the casual crowd can pick up, enjoy for a while and remember.

because that was for the Wii U on launch, seriously it was even in the quote above the image man.

With no game announcements yet that really seems kinda meaningless. Like you put Unity, havok and the likes on there, but they don't exactly make games do they. Can't exactly remember the Wii U's launch line-up, but I wouldn't be surprised if many companies "yeah you can stick our logo on there no problem and we'll kinda support it maybe".
I really hope that Nintendo managed to gather more their party support this time around, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if game devs (or rather, companies) are less than enthusiastic. The Wii U didn't sell well, and game devs would probably rather just put out an easy port where they don't have to change too much (Xbone, PS4 and PC) - especially when those already have significant market share.
I don't know, let's see.

How can you say that? Hint: it wasn't. The PS4's SDK requires more working around than the Wii U one. I don't know where you're getting your information from but that is completely untrue. Hell, they even allowed you to use Unity or HTML for your games.

since the screen is the computer part of the console then you could actually have a fully wireless headset
since the screen is the computer part of the console then you could actually have a fully wireless headset
its funny how close the switch is to being able to be a VR headset
yet Nintendo itself is far off from trying that
Didn't the Wii U have a similar list of supporters on launch?
As stated earlier; same as last time and four of those are launch days hit and quit it devs and half of them are tool companies not game devs
Two years from now it'll be Namco Capcom and Ubi$haft
A lot of the companies called it quits after releasing shit games and then complaining why noone bought them, citing that it must be the wiiu.
I like how we're already ready to toss this thing in the garbage months before we really get the info we should require to make decisions like that

not really
i say this as a life long cynic about fucking everything
it gets tiring to be non stop negative all the fucking time, and it gets even more tiring when that's all anyone wants to put out
and that's all anyone wants to put out anymore
I'm not even sure what the point of cynicism in this context is? Is being anti hype really better than being hype? Or would it be more reasonable to just be, I don't know, kind of in the middle?
Like i'm sick of gamers attitude towards their hobby
I like how we're already ready to toss this thing in the garbage months before we really get the info we should require to make decisions like that
As an owner of pretty much every Nintendo console but the Virtual Boy and japanese systems, i'd be cautious about the Switch after the catastrophic occurrence that happened to the Wii U. Sure, it was great for what it was, but Nintendo's just about abandoned it already with no more DLC or big updates for any of their big games and all their focus going into Zelda and what's ahead.
I don't want the Switch to be a Dreamcast, but with how PS4 and XBO are moving up a half-gen, Nintendo has to keep relevant somehow even if they're not directly competitive. And unfortunately their method of trickling down information and avoiding some serious questions leaves a lot to be desired.
You can be a pessimist when it comes to video game purchases, and an optimist when it comes to anything else in your life
Gamers have this attitude, because being optimistic fucks you over. See: pre-orders, pre-order bonuses that fuck over consumers that don't instantly buy-in to bullshit, cash-grab sequels, etc.
If you pre-order and its shit, you're out xx money
If you don't buy it and it turns out to be good, you can just go buy it without taking risk.
Like I'm not saying "Pre order the switch" I'm saying "Why are you guys already saying it's a literal piece of fucking garbage?"
There's a fucking difference between skepticism, and cynicism. You're not acting skeptical or quizzical, you're not giving anyone the benefit of the doubt, you're so self assured in your cynicism that you don't even question it
considering it looks like skyrim is not actually happening (at least at this point) and was allowed more as a sign of support for the platform by Bethesda, its really hard to get excited for any of the games they showed, even/especially the new 3d Mario
I want to be excited though because just at a glance it looks really cool and i'd love to have nintendo's console and handheld games consolidated into one platform but I'm hoping they don't wait very long to release more info like how they waited to just announce the thing in general. Bethesda in the past has just generally refused to work on anything Nintendo citing poor hardware specs so that they're interested this time, even if I'm not actually interested in their games, still sounds good

i dont know how you can say this when every time i see you in anything video games related ever you refuse to allow any potential criticism whatsoever of whatever video game company is being targeted? its a bit hard to be both a drone and a cynic
What reply would please you, my lord?
You talked about pre-ordering
Where did I say "Go pre order?" no where.
Not a single fucking place. Because I wasn't talking about pre-orders. I was talking about how you're not skeptical, you're not thinking about it, you're out right pessimistic and cynical and hatefilled in regards to this. If that's how you want to be, power to you but frankly, people like you are why I'm getting sick of gaming communities.
I'm not even saying "BE HYPED, GET PYSCHED, GO PRE ORDER", but if all I did was read your reply, I'm sure that's what you read me saying. I asked, in my last reply that you have quoted right there, in clear fucking english my question
Why are you guys already saying this is a literal piece of garbage? That is not saying "Get hyped and go pre order" That is a literal question asking you point blank what the fuck is the point of your degree of cynicism?
I'm skeptical, not outright fucking pessimistic off the bat and this attitude doesn't make gaming any better
I know you're not and I'm sorry you're getting the brunt of my frustrations with the scene in general.
Like I'm not saying to be optimistic, I'm not even going that far, I'm just sick of the outright crap that pervades so many gaming communities that stems from us just being too cynical. Skeptical thought is great and I encourage that but I can't just keep participating in such depressing communities
Imagine if you could use the screen as a VR headset, and the split controllers as VR hands.
I imagine it would be too large and/or heavy for that purpose, but theoretically if there was a "Switch VR", all it would need to be is a head-mount for the main unit, akin to the Gear VR. It'd be a fairly self-contained VR solution, actually. The guts, screen, motion tech, and controllers are already there via the Switch's portable mode.
All that's missing a means to strap the screen to your face. And after all, that's all that VR is.

A bit disingenuous (though not entirely untrue), this is what they actually were talking about- what Nintendo showed off when debuting the wii u
[T]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CvViFAuWEAAvDF2.jpg[/t]
So while there was a similar list of developers on board, it definitely was not as big as Switch's list. On top of that, "Nintendo Partners" are those developing at least one game for the system- and I expect at least a single game from each of the developers listed there and more (I.e. Devolver Digital tweeted out that they had games in development for it).
In the end, while I understand the pessimism, I truly believe that third party support is here to stay with Nintendo this time, with Nvidia developing the hardware and UE4+Unity support already pledged. We'll see more in January, after the holiday rush and all that.
