Trademark. You don't have to defend your copyright, but the lawyer who wrote an article about that part a few days afterwards completely ignored the trademark issue.

Despite the shitty stuff the big N has done lately with the copyright stuff etc, they're still really important in the gaming industry and I respect them for the most part.

I dunno considering the PS4 Pro and Xbox Scorpio are right around the corner I'd say this is Gen 8.5

Yeah, but this is looking to be an outright new system rather than an update of current hardware like PS4p and Scorpio are. That's the criteria for a new gen.

Nah, I'd say we're pretty much at gen 9 when it comes to Nintendo and Microsoft. The PS4 Pro is basically an upgraded PS4. The NX is something completely new, and based on what we know about the Scorpio I'd almost consider it a new console as well.

Xbone to Scorpio is a larger jump than PS4 to PS4 Pro. Plus Sony is keeping the PS4 name for the Pro model, I wouldn't be shocked if the Scorpio doesn't keep the Xbox One label.

They aren't important anymore at all. People said the same thing about SEGA ten years ago and it was wrong then. The one thing they still have is excellence of execution, pretty much everywhere else they've been exceeded or replaced.
They are important in one way. As a great example of treating everyone around you like crap cause you're "the brand" doesn't work anymore.
If Nintendo went 3rd party or their franchises went to other companies nothing would change.
I'm excited for this, but also a bit scared as well because I feel like they might fuck it up. I hope everything goes well for Nintendo, it doesn't hurt to have competition

Probably supposed to be those cool haptic feedback motors that could simulate different textures, they were in the news a few years ago and then nothing ever came of them.
