I wouldn't call the Wii Useless, without the Wii, we wouldn't have gotten so far with Motion Devices if Nintendo didn't make it. And while the Wii U hasn't been the best, the Gamepad is really useful and the console is far from slow when most games are 60FPS and on 720p or 1080p, which is more than the powerhouse the PS4 and Xbone is.

Woah, hey man I know it's just like your opinion and all, but despite being "useless and slow electronic gizmo" by Nintendo their games for their systems remain to be some of the best in their respective genres. You can think whatever you want about their systems like Wii, Wii U and DS and 3DS but the games that get released for them are fun as fuck to play.
And in the end you only get a console to play its games and nothing else.

This is completely false lol.
There's FAR more 1080p & 60FPS titles on the X1 and PS4
The Wii serves a good purpose as an emulator console; I finally played Chrono Trigger and it was pretty good with a gamecube controller.
I'm going to be disappointed if it doesn't come with some decent internal storage. With more consoles using their respective E-Shops, Nintendo could be losing out from direct sales of their games.
At least I won't have to buy some bullshit Y cable this time for an external drive.
Hopefully it has a more accessible architecture than the weird in house one they had before
Think i'm behind the 8 ball. Why are people disappointed about the new console?
I vaguely remember the thread title being different, but it's possible I just misread it.

At least they're actually trying to innovate the way we play games instead of just making underpowered PC Boxes like Microsoft and Sony are. Fuck, I don't even like the Wii or 3DS and I can appreciate that.

Everybody shits on consoles for being underpowered and with no reason to pick them over a PC besides price and some exclusives, and then when Nintendo tries something new everybody shits on it and calls it a gimmick because they compromised on power and goes "why doesn't nintendo just make a more powerful console???" when they already tried it and it didn't work and it certainly wouldn't work again because the PS4 and Xbox's brand value is too strong for mature serious gamerz who don't buy consoles for babies, and thus likely wouldn't buy a theoretical Nintendo console that's stronger than the competition because Nintendo doesn't market it with generic grizzled shootman.
For better or worse it's a fact that people care more about power than anything else. Whatever feature Nintendo offers isn't appealing enough if the trade-off is lower power. I like the Wii U tablet but the timing was years too late for it to be a big feature rather than merely a quirk of the console.

Give me one reason beyond exclusivity and money that's valid to maintain the console ecosystem.
Oh wait, shit, that's right. There isn't any reason. PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, all are inherently pointless beyond milking every dime, dollar, and cent from the consumer base for the least amount of effort required.
It hurts the consumer every single step of the way, hands down. Period. Now if you're going to tell me that the Wii U's shitty upgrade, or whatever other supposed portable features this new console has, are worth neutering an entire decade of video games.. I'm going to have to call you out on that bullshit. And the Wii U failed because it was the equivilant of a PS4.1 and did nothing for the ecosystem. No sane dev team is going to throw away two plus decades of experience to cater to what's been devolved into a niche with touchscreen controls and waggle.
Let me repeat myself, the sole reason that console exclusivity exists is to generate profit. Right now people are shitting on Nintendo for their "our way or no way," mentality.
It isn't power that people care about, it's compatibility and staying power.

No but you see it's great because EA and Ubisoft can continue they march through the gaming world if they had three homogenized DVD/Blu-Ray/Netflix boxes that begrudgingly play games on it sometimes instead of two.

i cant wait for sony or microsofts next 'black box that play the same games as eachother u can also run better on pc' we need at least 10 more of those

Then again they're easier to use & cheaper than gaming computers, hence why so many people own them.
Then again they're easier to use
not really, they've gotten rather shitty after 360/ps3 had their mid-life cycle
Then again they're easier to use & cheaper than gaming computers, hence why so many people own them.
Then again they are getting more and more complex with each generation, so it is debatable. Having to pay for online play and the general higher prices of games makes even the pricing debatable. The exclusives is really where it's at.

i didn't say that i was a console peasant

That's debatable at this point.

Calming if true- Nintendo being silent being based on the games and not incompetence would make the past months make more sense.

There is absolutely nothing exciting about the Xbox or PS anymore. They really do feel like what you described. The best combo for a gamer, in my opinion, would be whatever Nintendo console is new at the time and a PC.
Hopefully they do three things: have a hard drive that is not filled by one game.
Not restarting the fuckin VC for a fourth time holy shit
Actually have games at launch

just want more on the nx version of this
To be fair with some creative use of the gamepad the Wii U had a lot of potential.
But then potentials stay as potentials unless it is worked on.
But most of the games released on the Wii U was still spectacular.
I sure hope the NX stays true to Nintendo's ideology "Exciting new ways to have fun".
If they reveal a new lineup of games for their mainline series while also being backward compatible with WiiU games I think it could make for a really solid system.
I bet Mario NX is gonna be yet another "New Super Mario Bros"
I bet Mario NX is gonna be yet another "New Super Mario Bros"
Making another one of those after Mario Maker would be too short sighted- expect something 3D, I'd say.
I'd be ok with another 3D Land game because that's a solid game
I bet Mario NX is gonna be yet another "New Super Mario Bros"
Super Mario Galaxy 3 please
Super Mario Galaxy 3 please
Id rather have an open game like 64/sunshine than a linear game like the galaxies/3d world
How long until the reveal from now on?
About 40 minutes.
