And no, A shitty phone is not the most revolutionary piece of technology made in the 21st century. If you really think like that, you're thick.

It didn't do anything that inspired people to be serious about touch screens, and it sold like shit compared to the iPhone. The OS was sluggish and uber shit. Just because it's based on Linux doesn't mean it's instantly good. That phone wasn't even publically released, from what I just read.

So?
It's a touchscreen phone without a button keybord made before the iPhone.
What makes the iPhone special, in any way?

You've got a point with the technological part. Saying a phone tops all the medical and military technological breakthroughs is indeed a pretty "thick" statement.
And $100 says that phone failed because it wasn't as 'pick-up-n-go' as the iPhone. That's what made it special, a brain dead monkey can use one of them.

Offers incredible user experience, is easy to use, and the App Store.
That's how it works. Usually you have this oblivious group of 'experts' who say shit about the iPhone/iPad, anything Apple, but have little to no experience with the actual products. Then they resort to inferior alternatives to avoid the Apple brandname, ignore the existence of jailbreaking and call it a closed environment. All that while the people who didn't jump to conclusions are loving every second of the product they bought because it's actually good.
Apple hates people that Jailbreaks their products.
Also that big pricetag, and no flash support = no-go bro.
DroidPad.
I'd buy one.
It'll sell like hot cupcakes :haw:
I know I'd buy one, if the price is fair.
Offers incredible user experience, is easy to use, and the App Store.
Sounds revolutionary. I bet that's never been done before.
Oh wait, it has, thousands of times.
How about you tell me what makes the iPhone revolutionary, instead of what crappy software that would work on virtually every other phone in existence it has on it?

Flash is outdated, time for HTML5 to reign supreme. It just needed a big name in the industry to start the move towards HTML5, and Apple was the big name of choice. And look at the shitstorm it started. HTML5 is being implemented left and right in favor of flash in many sites already. We wouldn't have gotten the same reaction if, say, LG tried this move.
And I, nor 99% of the users of iPhones, don't give a shit what Apple likes or doesn't like. We don't own iDevices because of Apple. iPhoneOS is the only thing Apple did right in the past decade aside from iPods. But given the reputation Apple has, of course there are bound to be haters that are going to hate. No flash? No big loss. We have YouTube along with a buttload of other major sites that have started implementing HTML5 or making mp4 versions of their content available. We aren't missing much. Games? AppStore. Cost money? Installous. Every issue has a simple fix, but those fixes, along with jailbreaking in general, are often ignored by people who own competing phones because they know jailbreaking is a valid point towards owning an iPhone. It makes the iPhone just as open as Android is.

It doesn't work on virtually every phone in existence, and that's why the iPhone is good. Also, the iPhone enjoys sporting touchscreen technology that is years if not decades ahead of the competition.

Flash is faster than HTML5. Proven multiple times on multiple operating systems.

If I didn't know better, I'd suspect you were trolling.
Hardware wise, the iPhone is rather unimpressive. Any app in the appstore could be made to run on virtual any other new phone.
Again, what makes it revolutionary? Quit dodging the question.

You want it to be ironic because you're labeling me a stereotype to make yourself feel better knowing that you have an explanation. Like I said, flash is outdated. HTML5 is still very new, and the speed of its development can only be increased by a big company supporting it in a big way. Apple is the big company. Of course, nobody likes it, but then again, 'nobody likes iPads' either even though two million units were sold in the first 2 months.
Shit's going down.

Every one of his posts has made a good point. He shouldn't stop posting when he is right.
The only reason the iPhone made such an impact is because of the Apple logo.

Until HTML5 is faster than Flash, it's worthless. A broken fix for a problem that doesn't exist.

It got rid of buttons in general in favor of a big screen and it did it right. Any phone that did it prior to this had one thing that killed it. When the iPhone came out, it was simply perfect. Fast, responsive, full-featured, and sexy. The UI was unlike anything previously seen. I'm trying to word this in a way where I don't sound like Steve Jobs, but it's really what the iPhone did. I said it's the first, I didn't say it's the best. There are probably better phones out there today, but keep in mind that they exist because of the iPhone.
I think what needs the most justification is the price of the damn thing. $500 for 16GB?? How the FUCK do you justify that?

No, they don't. They existed before the iPhone. I am certain there are tons of phones you never tried before the iPhone came out that, if they had been endorsed by a larger, more public company, would have made the same impact as the iPhone.
It is all marketing.

So, the software on the phone makes the phone?
Doesn't sound like an answer to my question, just a different way of dodging it.

Funny, you have a knack for dodging all my answers that are related to the hardware and nitpicking about the software. Stop being biased and read more carefully.

But actually, the software is 80% of the phone. The 20% goes to the awesome touchscreen which is still the best in existence as far as I know.

The only hardware related tidbit you've thrown at me is the touchscreen technology, which is exclusive to the iPhone right now thanks to clever copyrights.
'The UI'
'It just works'
'The apps'
Are all software related, and don't make the phone revolutionary or unique, because they can be removed or changed. They aren't actually part of the phone.

It is a part of the phone, though. I don't know why you are ignoring the software as having to do something with the iPhone's success. It's the biggest thing, actually, what with the Appstore's large number of apps.
I think what needs the most justification is the price of the damn thing. $500 for 16GB?? How the FUCK do you justify that?
They justify it with their name. The audience they market will buy it, so they are allowed to do it.
Doesn't mean anyone with a brain will buy it.
how is this even news? does everyone just find stupid shit on the internet and use it as an excuse to post here?

This must be the most revolutionary piece of hardware ever, then.

Please don't jump to conclusions. You really have to spend hours with one until you understand what it's all about. The bigger screen may sound like it doesn't justify the price, but the bigger screen along with the faster processor allow you to do so many more things, and allow app developers to make way more complex apps that are so much more productive than their iPhone counterparts. It's not really a productivity device as much as it is mostly for entertainment, but you could definitely use it to make Spreadsheets/Word documents on it.

Quite the opposite. I disagree that a full-featured desktop OS should be put into a small device like that. Not only does the OS not use the touchscreen to its fullest potential, but the majority of the apps are bound to run horribly due to the insufficient hardware. The OS was made for desktops, which is what makes this different from the iPhoneOS, where it was made just for smaller devices. That's why it excels at user experience whereas a touchscreen Windows device isn't really all that great.
Not to say that it's a bad device. It's not 'revolutionary,' nor does it really do anything new. It looks like a great device, though.
