You thought you needed a guide for the steam version?
La mulana is a daily deal right now
About £1.20 to boot; I dunno how much that is in dollars, but it's still VERY cheap, and it's well worth the time you put into it for that price.

It's $1.49USD which is an absolutely absurd price for such a decent game.
GET HYPED
I don't get hyped for anything on kickstarter anymore. I've come to realise if the publishers don't want to fund a game there is usually a reason for it.

what makes you think every kickstarter project tried to get a publisher?
what makes you think every kickstarter project tried to get a publisher?
Larger funding, physical production, marketing. It'd be stupid not atleast not try going to a publisher first before going to kickstarter.

Do you think maybe, just maybe, the people making these games might like to own the rights to the games that they make?
That's sorta the idea behind Kickstarter. Being able to self-publish and therefore be completely in control of your own IP. With Kickstarter and the ability to self-publish on the three home consoles and Steam, developers no longer have to worry about their publishers trying to take control of their IPs during development or later down the line.
La-Mulana is a game I love and hate. Its amazing artstyle and music, but the difficulty makes me want to choke a kitten. Like the Giant boss. Or getting stuck (yes, stuck) because you don't have a weight on you. Or the sun falling on you. But it feels fucking satisfying to peg Elmac in the face and watching him crumble. Or finding a new path you missed before. I have yet to beat the game simply because I keep dying :v:
However, I'll stand aside and see if this game is worth the trouble.
I've been over the kickstarter and it's still horribly mediocre. Call of Duty is to 3D as This game is to 2D.
Can someone clearly state to me why this is a revolutionary mind bending experience that everyone is this thread is freaking out about?

I'm sure someone can explain it, but I don't see why anyone should.

La-Mulana was one of the first great one-man-show indie games. It came out before Braid made that kind of thing popular.
The original La-Mulana is notoriously difficult and cryptic: Think Dark Souls + Myst.
As a result, it is a niche game. There are pretty much no other games quite like it.

Bought it solely on this. Thanks.
I hope my life is dedicated to it.

Oh my god Steam is actually not letting me install it due to the pure amount of installs currently processing. I must play this game.

If you found the giant boss difficult just wait until you reach Tiamat or, even worse, the final boss. Tiamat is really difficult but neat. The final boss is really difficult and only gets harder and harder the closer to winning you get. (And as such, being the final boss it's a very long fight. It takes me a solid 10-15 minutes to reach the final phase of the fight.)

Hm, let's see. Good story that's inspired by real mythology and very painstakingly detailed. Good platforming, pretty good combat, good (if convoluted and really difficult at times) puzzles, great art, incredible soundtrack, very good and unique bosses, and on top of that a light RPG system that makes you feel as if you're actually getting stronger as you progress through the game. Comparing it to CoD is frankly insulting to the game. CoD has good game mechanics usually and decent graphics, that's about it though. It's lacking in basically everything that makes La-Mulana good. Plus there's the part where La-Mulana is better than a huge chunk of AAA games despite being made by a small Japanese indie team which is impressive as fuck.
Looks good except I don't like the fact that the females are all portrayed as pedobait lollies.

Clearly - dicks, around here kids are giving birth to kids, the govt needs to discourage people from having 3 kids before they are even 18, but that's for another debate.
