I don't know about you guys but Ricochet was fun as all hell when I played it. It wasn't until I started to play into tfc or day of defeat that I tried playing it again and nobody was playing Ricochet. . . I'll be happy for Rocochet 2 or EP3.
I played Ricochet on LAN with my little brother back in the day, along with the other mods that came with Half-Life. We never figured out how to play online, so it was always him versus me. Despite all that, we actually managed to have some good fun and it never got boring. [editline]24th April 2012[/editline] I kind of miss that
Heh. I bet in the next 'orange-box' or whatever they decide to do, they'll throw 'Ricochet 2' in as a side-project to HL2 as an actual game.
I first got a hold of Ricochet through some old steam key on the back of an old copy of Counter-Strike 1.6. I had no idea what it was, but when I started playing it I actually thought it was pretty addicting. Anyway, we're not seeing HL3/Ep 3 this year. It would make no sense for Valve to announce it when they've got other games like DOTA 2 and CS: GO coming up, because it would easily overshadow them. We're probably at the very least gonna have to wait until next year.
Maybe the next "orange box" type package will include Episode 3, CS:GO, and Ricochet 2??
What's worse is that they'll add more characters, excellent voice actors, a kickass soundtrack and a fucking great plot and you'll love it and then you'll realize Valve don't count to 3. [sp]this wait for ricochet 3 is killing me[/sp]
Remember how TF2 was in development for, like, 7 years? And how the game was actually scrapped and restarted a few times during this time? The same thing is probably happening to HL.

I'll take my disk launching in Tribes: Ascend thank you very much.
What if it was released as Ricochet 2 but when you pass the main menu screen and go into single player it was HL3
What if it was released as Ricochet 2 but when you pass the main menu screen and go into single player it was HL3
While the fans would love something like that, from a legal standpoint it's not possible.
There won't ever be an ep3. They've already said numerous times that the episodic method didn't work and they ditched it after ep2. If there's a new Half Life game, it's going to be HL3.
That info is not accurate. Also why would they leave the HL2 story arc on a cliff hanger?
That info is not accurate. It was an experiment so that they could release new games on a more constant basis, but in the end it didn't work out for them. Of course they won't leave us at a cliffhanger, HL3 would pick up where Ep 2 left off. Here's a quick Google search source: http://z14.invisionfree.com/halozero/index.php?showtopic=6419

Here's a quick Google search source: http://z14.invisionfree.com/halozero/index.php?showtopic=6419
I'll just copy this over from the other thread:
Valve said that they were done with the episodic content so it's Half-Life 3 now.
No, Valve said they wouldn't use the episodic model in the future. Since Episode Three is the last installment, it isn't a part of their episodic release structure. Episode Three will conclude the Half-Life 2 story arc, and Half-Life 3 will be something new. Episode doesn't mean anything in regards to the length of the game, other than to keep continuity with the other games. [editline]25th April 2012[/editline] Besides, it's taken out of context. He's comparing the episodic release model with even shorter release cycles for content, which is what they are doing Team Fotress 2.
Gabe Newell told Develop that the episodic development philosophy has been replaced wholesale by the ‘games as a service’ model. “We went through the episodes phase, and now we’re going towards shorter and even shorter cycles,” Newell said in an interview published in Develop magazine issue 116.
I figured it out. I think if we can get enough people to play ricochet and make Gabe happy hell start talking about half life 3... or ep3. Im serious... like if we could get a good 2000 players all the sudden im sure Gabe would be like oh snap they really care. Why else would he say ricochet 2 of all things :P Fuck it im reinstalling it! [editline]25th April 2012[/editline]
Remember how TF2 was in development for, like, 7 years? I highly doubt that Valve isnt working on something Half Life related given the way their company works.
