I don't see why that guy can't just put a Solargrip around an AK pistol grip, circumventing the whole "assault weapon" thing:

It's quite popular in California, I'm pretty sure you could do that in Canada too.
Good god, what a horrible set-up. Just get a thumbhole stock

There for a reason. Pistol grips on "assault weapons" are illegal in california because they look scary.
Thankfully in states that aren't run by morons we don't have to do that.

Yes, I know that. Which is why you should get a thumbhole stock, as shown in my post, which IS legal in California.

Doesn't need to be done in Canada. Even we aren't full retard enough to ban pistol grips

Thumbhole stocks don't help. They are also part of the ban.

Seriously, you register your car so why not your guns?
Srsly guise, u register ur car so y not register EVERYTHING YOU OWN?? (exact same argument)
a gun's a bit more important than a guitar or pair of socks.
Srsly guise, u register ur car so y not register EVERYTHING YOU OWN?? (exact same argument)
It's the same argument but it isn't necessary to make a slippery slope out of it.
What sort of point is there in registering bolt action rifles and such?
Are drive-by bayonettings a problem in Canada?
Used properly a rifle would be more dangerous than any handgun in a planned killing.
That's beside the point, a gun is a device used for killing and as such it needs to be registered.
93 percent of guns used in crimes aren't obtained lawfully anyway, so they don't help much.
93% of guns in GENERAL, not Long guns. I'm sure the figures for rifle-related crimes are probably closer in favor to the registered weapons seeing as bolt action rifles, shotguns and semi automatic rifles are not used in organized or street crimes as often as handguns, sub machine guns, and assault rifles.

A car is a large machine that is easily capable of doing lots of damage, and as such the damage needs to be accounted for if it is done.
A gun is a small device that is easily capable of doing lots of damage, and as such the damage needs to be accounted for if it is done.
The car/gun analogy is solid.
