I think L4D3 (if they're still planning on releasing that) might be the first game that actually uses Source 2's fancy new things. Dota 2 on Source 2 might technically release earlier but it'll still be mostly the same Dota 2.
What makes you think that? And why would they make Dota2 on source2?
What makes you think that? And why would they make Dota2 on source2?
Dota 2 on source 2 is already a thing, the dota 2 workshop alpha tools run on a new engine, which guess, it's source 2.
Don't be disappointed, be excited.
The amount of user created content is going to be huge. I can't wait to experience new mods and maps.
What makes you think that? And why would they make Dota2 on source2?
The Dota 2 client and SDK mentioned in the OP already run on Source 2. It's not complete but it definitely uses Source 2. Valve also teased a "significant engine update" for the first half of 2015.
L4D3 was heavily referred to in the JIRA leak (and other leaks) and seemingly had (very early) testing going on already at the time.

source 2 in general is gonna be something else
calling it, black box will release with episode 3, l4d3 (and all l4d 1 and 2 campagins), and dota 2
What makes you think that? And why would they make Dota2 on source2?
It was announced dota would be moving to source 2 in early 2015
Half life 3 is not being made.

Black Box is already a thing. Ep2, TF2, Portal 2, without the previous games. I think it was bundled with some ATi cards.
I'm not just looking forward to Half-Life 3 (or EP3, whatever they wish to call it), I'm looking forward to the shit AFTER that also, the amount of mods that were around after HL2 was absolutely brilliant, hell this forum itself is home to it's biggest mod. MINERVA: Metastasis, SourceForts, Empires Mod, I'm honestly looking forward to what modders and the rest will be able to bring to the table, and I hope it's just as great as it is when HL2 was around.
There is also a small reference in their official employee's handbook on around page 20 released in 2012.
8 years of absolute silence will do that.
I cared for about the first 4
then my fucks ran out. I'll get hyped when they announce it.
If Half-Life 3 has been, and is being worked on.. then it has to get some sort of award for industry secrecy.
Half life 3 is not being made.
It definitely is, although not in any big scale. They'll have to focus on getting the engine done.
this is the world we live in.
where finding the text "hl3" in the game engine valve designed is something to exercise skepticism over.
8 years of desperately wanting information on this fucking game.
there are kids who have been born and are in 3rd grade right now.
Valve probably wants to leap the industry like it did with HL2 and that's why it takes so much time
8 years of silence should make people give up. That's almost a whole decade.
TF2's development reached back to like 1998 (release:2007) and core HL2 went on for like 1999-2004, with Ep2 only releasing in 2007.
This is just bog-standard Valve time as I see it.

We literally had Gabe Newell hammering a crowbar on an anvil saying "These things, they take time" two years ago and apparently everyone forgot about it shortly after. This is why there's no reason for Valve to keep dropping hints on purpose unless they reach a frequency that would make people upset for getting them "hyped" for nothing.
Like, I hate sounding like an apologist, but with that context, I just don't see what the fuzz is about.
Gives me vibes of something along the lines of this. I wouldn't be surprised if they talked about engine physics at GDC, and showcase a small demo running on Source2.
Well they talked about their physics engine at GDC the last 2 years.
dota2.exe
portal2.exe
Games that aren't the HL series, Portal (1), or other legacy Source games (TF2, CS:S, DoD:S) use their own name as the process name, as they're on a newer branch of Source than those games.
I wanna see an advance in the face technology used in Half Life 2.

I don't think I've ever seen anything that beat that, it still impresses me, even today, hell a lot of things in Source still impress me even today.

Overexposure to the Source engine can easily make trivial things seem impressive to you though, things that other engines can do with no problem at all that need super amounts of trickery or are just plain impossible in Source
Well it's been a while, we can only hope hl3 is good.
It will never live up to the hype.
is anyone gonna forget the time mike morasky openly said he was working with kelly bailey on music like 2 years ago?

Valve.exe has stopped working.
